Blending Basics:
  • Use blending brushes for a soft, even blend
  • Dab ink on scrap paper before applying to avoid harsh starting points
  • Use circular motions to blend color seamlessly
  • Build up ink gradually for a more natural gradient
Ways to Use Ink Blending:
  • Create gradient backgrounds (e.g. light to dark)
  • Add depth to florals (e.g. darker edges, lighter centers)
  • Blend leaves or elements for realistic shading

Do’s:
  • Use high-quality blending brushes
  • Start with lighter colors first
  • Clean brushes between colors
Don’ts:
  • Don’t press too hard—light pressure builds better blends
  • Don’t blend directly from the ink pad to paper
  • Don’t forget to tape down your cardstock to avoid slipping

Recommended Supplies:
  • Blending brushes
  • Ink color combos
