Blending Basics:
- Use blending brushes for a soft, even blend
- Dab ink on scrap paper before applying to avoid harsh starting points
- Use circular motions to blend color seamlessly
- Build up ink gradually for a more natural gradient
Ways to Use Ink Blending:
- Create gradient backgrounds (e.g. light to dark)
- Add depth to florals (e.g. darker edges, lighter centers)
- Blend leaves or elements for realistic shading
Do’s:
- Use high-quality blending brushes
- Start with lighter colors first
- Clean brushes between colors
Don’ts:
- Don’t press too hard—light pressure builds better blends
- Don’t blend directly from the ink pad to paper
- Don’t forget to tape down your cardstock to avoid slipping
