Hi everybody, welcome to our next episode of The Great Cover-Up!
Let’s get started!
Hi friends! It’s Dana here with today for this week’s Great Cover Up Challenge. Amy and I are cohosting the challenge this week and we hope you play along! This week we are challenging you to use a Cover Plate in your card design.
Cover plates make such a great background and are a staple supply in your card making stash. I love to use them to create a card panel. I also like to use them to inlay the die cut pieces back into the die and make a fun and colorful background, like I did today.
I started my card by running the Cover Plate: Decorative Circles die through my die cutting machine with white cardstock and a variety of colored cardstock from Papertrey Ink. The PTI rainbow is definitely a favorite of mine!
Next, I inlaid the small shapes back into the die cut to create my panel. I kept my colors random and created a fun and colorful background. It reminds me of a vintage wedding ring quilt pattern.
Once my panel was finished I used the Perfect Pairs: Essential set to stamp and die cut my sentiment. Since my card panel was so busy I kept my sentiment fairly simple.
Thanks for joining me today. I hope we inspired you to pull out your favorite Cover Plate and join us for this week’s challenge.
Enjoy your day,
Dana

PAPER: A variety of PTI colors
OTHER: VersaMark ink pad, White Embossing Powder
Hi crafty friends! Dana and I are co-hosting today’s challenge. We love our Cover Plates and Border Bling Dies so our challenge is to use them! They make for beautiful background whether you inlay (like Dana did) or use them for a backdrop for some of Papertrey’s gorgeous Into the Blooms Dies.
I used the Border Bling: Blooming Hearts Die done in all white. It has such fun whimsical border cutouts! For my focal point, I began die cutting the pieces to the Into the Blooms: Roses. They were inked up with various shades of the new Distress Oxide color Saltwater Taffy and Distress Oxide color Peeled Paint. Once colored, they were all spritzed with water and then white pigment ink. These two techniques really soften the look of the blooms! After arranging the roses, a sentiment strip that was white heat embossed, with Inside Greetings: Happy Hello, was added with foam adhesive. To finish, white pearls were the perfect touch!
**Fun note–This card was actually made back when the roses were released but I just wasn’t happy with it! I set it aside and moved on. Here, I deconstructed it (ripped the rose and leaves off) and the remade roses for a much softer, feminine look. I love my second version so much more!
