Ghostly Mischief in the “Boo Scullery” by Bobbi Lemanski

There’s a little Halloween magic brewing in the Boo Scullery today! This handmade card features a spooky cabinet packed from top to bottom with colorful potions, mysterious bottles, and all sorts of bewitching concoctions. But it looks like someone has been busy mixing up a little mischief!

A friendly ghost floats right out of the scullery, arms full of potion bottles and ready to whip up something frightfully fun. His broom is casually resting against the side of the cabinet, as if he’s taking a quick break from his Halloween duties. With all those tiny bottles, magical details, and the playful “Halloween Boo” greeting, this card is filled with just the right mix of spooky, whimsical, and cute!

I’m using the following Papertrey Ink products for this 5″ X 7″ card:

Build-A-Ghost die set

Bewitching Bookcase stamp set and coordinating die set

This is Big Sentiments: Halloween stamp set and coordinating die set

Houndstooth Press Plate

This card is 5″ X 7″ and uses a white card base made from Stamper’s Select White cardstock. True Black Ink was used for all the black ink stamping. Here are the step-by-step details for creating this card.

Check out my REEL on Instagram and watch this card come to life in less than two minutes!

STEP ONE: Using the Houndstooth Press Plate and True Black Ink, press the houndstooth pattern on a 5″ X 7″ piece of white Stamper’s Select White cardstock, keeping an even border on the sides and at the top. Stamp the sentiment from the This is Big Sentiments: Halloween stamp set at the center bottom in True Black Ink.

Stamp in True Black Ink on another piece of white cardstock, the bookcase from the Bewitching Bookcase stamp set. Use the coordinating die to cut it out. Keep the cutouts for Step Two. Attach the bookcase to the houndstooth background using foam tabs to make it dimensional with some shelf depth on the cardstock. TIP: Leave space open on the sides to slide the cutouts back in.

STEP TWO: Stamp the various potion bottles and jars in True Black Ink, from the Bewitching Bookcase stamp set, in rows on the cutouts from Step One. Using Copic or other markers, color in the jars and bottles in pink, orange, purple and gray. Lightly add shading to the top of each cutout using a blender brush and black ink.

STEP THREE: Using the Build-A-Ghost die set, die cut and assemble the witch’s broom and the ghost. For the ghost, die cut arms/hands in the body using the die in the set. Blend black ink lightly around the ghost body. Attach the witch hat, eyes and mouth.

Stamp more potion bottles and jars in a row on a separate piece of white cardstock, hand cut and color. Attach the bottles behind the ghost’s hands and attach using foam tabs to give some dimension to the bottles.

STEP FOUR: Insert the stamped insets behind the scullery cabinet. Adhere in place.

Stamp once and die cut three times, the “Boo” and the “Halloween” words using the This is Big Sentiments: Halloween stamp set and coordinating die set. Use Orange Zest ink for the top of the “boo” and Pure Poppy ink for the bottom of the word. Allow the colors to overlay and blend in the middle. Stamp “Halloween” in True Black. Attach the words to the front of the card, adhering to the front of the cabinet. Attach the “boo” sentiment over the “Halloween.”

STEP FIVE: Attach the broom by leaning it against the side of the scullery cabinet. Attach the ghost to the front, positioning the ghost so it looks like he is flying out of the cabinet.

Using a marker, add specks of black around the sentiment at the bottom. Attach the card front to a white 5″ X 7″ card base.
