Summer is at the forefront of our thoughts today at Papertrey Ink, and we're thrilled to be bringing you some summertime fun! Grab a popsicle and soak up some sun while you browse today's new product introductions!
There's nothing better on a hot day than a refreshing popsicle! Summer Sweetness, designed by Lizzie Jones, is the perfect set for celebrating summer with a frozen treat. This set includes three generously-sized ice pops and ten charming sentiments, ranging from a simple hello to sweet thank you and birthday greetings. Many of the sentiments even coordinate well for inside and out companion messages. Pair these images with the coordinating die collection for easy-to-create dimension and expanded versatility.
The Details:
- Summer Sweetness will be available for purchase on May 15th.
- It will retail for $15.
- Summer Sweetness contains a total of 20 images. The popsicles measure 4/5" to 1 1/10" wide x 2 2/5" tall. The "enjoy Summer" sentiment measures 1 1/4" wide x 1/2" tall. Birthday Classics: June, designed by Dawn McVey, is the fifth set in a monthly series that features a gorgeously unique birthday sentiment as well as birthday sentiment building options, with each set focusing on a specific month! Finally, you can create birthday sentiments specific to each recipient’s birth month! Custom birthday cards just got more fun than ever! You’ll want to be sure to collect them all to create cards for anyone on your birthday calendar!

This is the fourth in a series of small sentiment sets designed to coordinate with a stylish, trendy phrase frame die. These particular sentiments finish the die-cut phrase "Enjoy", giving you lots of design options. The size of the coordinating die-cut phrase frame will also work well with our Monthly Moments series!

Create trendy, stylish backgrounds for your cards with just a few quick impressions using this new background builder. The extra large background strips easily cover the 5-1/2” width of an A2 card cover, making it easier than ever to use. The smaller strip is great for tags, Monthly Moments pocket page inserts and so much more!

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
For my first project I pulled out the new Background Basics: Super Chevron set. One of the things I love about this set is the ability to stamp two stripes at once. Not only does it make it fast and easy to fill a card front, but it also makes it a breeze to keep everything straight and opens up opportunities for fun techniques as well. Check out this video to see how easy it is to create this look!
By stamping *in between* each set of stripes with a variety of colors, new shades of each color were created where the impressions overlapped. I can't wait to play with this technique using other color combinations!
At the bottom of the card I added a fun sentiment using Dawn's new Birthday Classic: June set. I love that this particular set includes the word "summer" as well so you can make a seasonal themed birthday card rather than month specific. The card front was mounted onto a Soft Stone card base.
This next project uses the new Splat sentiment set, one of my favorite new products from this release!
I stamped this "Wish Big" splat in the corner of my white card front first. It is inked with Hibiscus Burst, and then the edges rolled in Raspberry Fizz to create a bit of a shaded effect. I then added a variety of layered dots from Polka Dot Basics III, stamping each color twice without reinking to get a shade lighter with the second impression.
I used a two-way glue pen to add dots of adhesive that I sprinkled with Prisma Glitter. Super easy, but bright and colorful all at the same time!
This was another quick card I put together using the Splat set, this time pairing it up with Circle Scribbles.
I stamped the "hello" splat using Tropical Teal, then added the Circle Scribbles in Simply Chartreuse and Hawaiian Shores, stamping each scribble twice without reinking.
I trimmed the stamped front panel and trimmed it down then adhered it onto a white card front. This could be done with any of the Splat stamps in any color scheme to create cards for a variety of occasions!
One of the fun things about reverse stamps like the ones found in Splat is trying out techniques, such as emboss resist like I did here. I started by stamping several of the small stars from Super Stars in a cluster using Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise and Simply Chartreuse inks.
I then heat embossed the "celebrate" splat on top of the stars using VersaMark ink and Clear Filigree Embossing Powder. I used a sponge in small circular motions to rub Simply Chartreuse ink over the embossed area, bringing the sentiment and the exterior edge of the splat to life.
I tied a bit of Orange Baker's Twine around the Classic Kraft card front to finish it off.
The new Phrase Play #4 die and stamp set are unique in that you can use them horizontally or vertically. For my next project I opted to use it in more of a horizontal orientation, tilted at a slight angle. I have really enjoyed the simplicity of using lots of white in my projects lately, and I embraced it in this project as well.
After die-cutting the Phrase Play #4 frame from white cardstock, I left the letters in place and colored over them with Copic markers to create an ombre effect. I die-cut the frame a second time and replaced the letters with the colored version. All of this was adhered to a white card base.
The sentiment was added to the interior of the frame using True Black ink. I also added the star that was popped out from the letter "o" just to the side of the stamped sentiment.
One last card for you today, this one with a summer theme. This large sentiment from Birthday Classics: June paired up with one of the popsicles from Lizzie's new Summer Sweetness set are just the perfect match. I started by stamping the sentiment in Raspberry Fizz.
The smallest chevron stripe in Background Basics: Super Chevron was the perfect thing to add above and below the sentiment in Limeade Ice.
I die-cut the popsicle and stamped it in Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise and Classic Kraft. Just look at all the detail that Lizzie incorporated into this set! I love the woodgrain on the popsicle stick so much! I also stamped the sentiment a second time on scrap cardstock in Limeade Ice and punched out the center of the sunburst with a 1/2" circle punch, adding it to the card here.

Splat is a modern set that works well for all cards but I can see using it for cards that I make for my son’s friends…hard to find a good set for teenage boys. This will work well….great release.

Just loving the “Enjoy: Phrase Play” and the Splat set. The Splat set is going to go with SO MANY of the other sets you’ve already released. It’s a totally fun look that’s right on target for the hot fun days of summer.
The Enjoy die is perfect partner for so many sentiments. This may be the one I break down and order. (I want them all, but time, space, and budget make getting all of them a bad idea.) Loving the fun summer colors too. Most of us are so ready for hot weather after this winter.

PTI offers so many incredible products that I’ve found I need to be particular when choosing sets, otherwise, I’ll run out of money and storage space. So from the first day of introductions, just the Birthday Classics: June will be coming to my house. I have to use more ice cream cones before I move onto popsicles!
