We're celebrating the friendships in our lives, with today's new product introductions.  Those dear ones who love us in the good and the bad, not because they have to, but because they choose to.  Friends laugh with us, they cry with us, they do silly things with us just so we won't have to do them alone.  *wink*  They rejoice with us and help to lift us up when we fall down.  It's with those treasured friendships in mind, that we bring you today's post…

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!

Watercolor Friends Card

For my first project I paired up the bew Wonderful Words: Friends set with one of my old favorites, Mini Blooms.  I started by heat embossing the  word "friends" onto white cardstock with White Filigree Embossing Powder.

Watercoloring

Then I added the Mini Blooms images with Ripe Avocado, Autumn Rose and Ocean Tides.  Using watered down ink refills and a watercolor brush, I went over the outside edges of each flower and the leaves to give them a softer look.  I then used a Classic Kraft refill to go around the word.

Postmarks

I used Background Basics: Postmarks to add a subtle distressed look to the background.  I used Fine Linen ink, but stamped off on scrap paper first to give it a very light look.

Down

After rounding the corners of this completed cover block, I adhered it to a Classic Kraft card base.  White crochet thread was tied around the spine.

Beautiful Friends Card

I felt like getting a bit artsy with my next project and pulled out a bunch of brightly colored cardstock scraps to incorporate.  I was inspired by the companion sentiment in Wonderful Words: Friends, "Make the world beautiful".

Sentiment

I was going for a bit of a chalkboard look for the background so I stamped the companion sentiment in VersaMark and heat embossed it in white.  I then added "friends" with Fresh Snow.  I used a sponge and some additional Fresh Snow ink to add "chalk residue" around the edges and over the sentiment.

Accents

I dug through all of my dies and found these leaf shapes from the Frilly Flowers collection interesting.  So I die cut them from all of the scraps of cardstock I wanted to incorporate and started arranging.  Some of the smaller ones were stamped with one of the blocks from Background Basics: Diagonals using VersaMark.

Down

I love how different this is and just know it would really brighten someone's day!

Friends Til the End Card

How about a more masculine take on these sets?

Border

I created these borders using the Background Basics: Diagonals Additions set.  I love having the flexibility to use these bits and pieces alone or paired with the original set.  I used Enchanted Evening, Classic Kraft, Ripe Avocado, Spring Rain & Terracotta Tile (one of my favorite masculine color schemes).

Sentiment

"Friends" was stamped at an angle using Terracotta Tile ink.  Sometimes it's important to remember that you don't always have to stamp everything horizontally, playing around on the diagonal can open up all kinds of possibilities!  The companion sentiment was added underneath in Classic Kraft.

Down

I distressed the edges of the Vintage Cream card front for a bit of texture.  The Classic Kraft card base was stamped with Background Basics: Super Stripes in Vitnage Cream as a finishing touch.

Gold Hello Card

I have one more card for you today and this one has a touch of gold to give it a trendy, modern feel.

Background

I started by creating this background block with the new Background Basics: Diagonals.  I stamped the main strip in Hibiscus Burst.  It is really quite easy to line up and fun to see the background build.  I added some bits from the Additions set in Orange Zest and also heat embossed some with Gold Filigree Embossing Powder.  I had a blast adding the contrasting pieces in and can hardly wait ot make another one!

Letters

I wanted to continue with the gold theme, so I heat embossed some die-cut Headline Alphabet letters in gold to spell out "hello".  I find that two coats of embossing gives a nice shiny coat.  Everything was adhered to a Soft stone card base as a good neutral.
