August 24, 2013      Nichole Heady      96 Comments

Good-morning
GOOD MORNING, CARD BAKERS!!!!!!!  Welcome, everyone to the official kick-off of Stamp-a-faire 2013!  I know some of you are waking up at 4am on the west coast this morning to join us!  Now that’s what I call dedication!

Breakfast-bake-and-take
Can you believe that the big day is finally here?  All of us have been busy behind the scenes making preparations for months and we are so excited to finally start showcasing everything we have been working on!  Today promises to be an amazing learning opportunity for everyone, no matter their skill level!  Not to mention the fun you will have rubbing elbows with other stampers from around the world!  To kick things off this morning, we have a Breakfast Bake & Take to get your creative juices flowing.

The-Challenge
We are providing you with 9 color schemes and 9 sketches to choose from!  You can use the graphics below to make your choice, or you can download them in recipe card format to add to you recipe box below.

Your challenge is to pick one color scheme and one sketch to whip up a quick project you can be proud of!  A great way to warm-up for all of the stamping that lies ahead!  So put on some of your favorite stamping tunes (something peppy to get you moving, you know?), grab your cup of coffee AND LET’S GET STARTED!!!

Here’s my take on the Breakfast Bake & Take Challenge!

Whole Lot of Happy Card
It took me about 15 minutes to put this card together after I selected a sketch and a color scheme!

Numbers
I started with a Raspberry Fizz card base and added strips of Hawaiian Shores, Blueberry Sky and Winter Wisteria.  I also die-cut the By the Numbers Border die from Plum Pudding cardstock and adhered them alongside the strips.

Buttons
According to the sketch, there could be three small embellishments at the top of the strips.  I opted to use buttons with a bit of a different stitching pattern to hold them in place.

Sentiment
I heat embossed this sentiment from Inside & Out: Birthday II with Black Filigree Embossing Powder.  I then punched it out with a 1-3/4″ circle punch and adhered it in place with foam tape for dimension.

Down
WHOLE LOT OF HAPPY SUPPLIES

  • STAMPS: Inside & Out: Birthday II
  • INK: VersaMark
  • PAPER: Raspberry Fizz, Plum Pudding, Winter Wisteria, Blueberry Sky, Hawaiian Shores
  • OTHER: By the Numbers Border die, buttons (Winter Wisteria, Hawaiian Shores, Blueberry Sky), white crochet thread (DMC), Black Filigree Embossing Powder, 1-3/4″ circle punch (EK Success)
  • FINISHED SIZE: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″

We had a group of 4 play along from Billings, MT today and had a blast! We even turned an experienced quilter into a novice paper-crafter and she had a great time!

I’m late to the party for I’ve had work that needed to be completed before joining in the fun. I have peeked at a few videos already during my breaks. 😉 There are so many different techniques for us that I hope to join in on a few. Thanks to all for an inspirational day. Oh, and I’m in New Jersey.

Why is the Rocky Theme going through my head??? lol My name is Tammy, and yes I am a PTI addict. ; ) I’m attempting to participate here by myself in Virginia Beach, VA. Somehow I’m spending more time watching videos and looking at everyone else’s projects. Still lots of fun though! Thanks for all the inspiration!

A bit late here! My friend and I joined from Canton, MI. We had hoped to get through all the challenges and have fun – which we did! I had also intended on working on my son’s baby book, but ended up working more of the challenges instead.
