Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!

To My Friend Card
My first project showcases the fabulous new Framed Out #6 stamp set & die.  I love how versatile it is and I am looking forward to incorporating it into lots of different types of projects.

Frame
I die-cut the frame from Classic Kraft cardstock and popped out the center.  I stamped it with the coordinating woodgrain frame image using Classic Kraft ink.  I stamped the stitched interior frame with Aqua Mist ink and added the sentiment from Framed Out #6 with Charcoal Palette ink.  I then stamped the sentiment a second time on a scrap of white cardstock using Winter Wisteria ink and trimmed out just the banner.  I adhered it onto the original sentiment with a bit of foam tape.  The frame was tied in place with twine.

Flowers closeup
For the focal point I stamped a vase from the new Mega Gracious Vases in Aqua Mist.  I built the bouquet with elements from Daydreamer.  I used Hibiscus Burst, Winter Wisteria & Spring Moss inks, stamping each image twice without re-inking to add a bit of a shadow effect.

Down
This was all adhered to an Aqua Mist card base.

My next project is actually a little set of cards perfect to keep on hand for all the special little boys that may be in your life.  I decided to pair up the new Little Hot Rod set with elements from the previously released Super Stars & desktop File: Inspiration sets.

Airplane card
I die-cut the Desktop File Card from Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped it with the graph paper block from the coordinating Desktop File: Inspiration stamp set, using Spring Rain ink.  I added some stars using Enchanted Evening ink and labeled the "tab" with Simple Alphabet & Pure Poppy ink.

Airplane closeup
I die-cut a letter using the Modern Alphabet Upper dies from Pure Poppy cardstock and adhered it as an accent.  I stamped the circle frame from Desktop File: Inspiration in Pure Poppy around it.

Bus card
I added Super Stars to the Classic Kraft card base using Classic Kraft ink.

Bus closeup
Adorable little sentiments from Little Hot Rod were added to the lower right corner in True Black ink.

Train card
I created my own custom accent strips with Enchanted Evening, Blueberry Sky & Pure Poppy cardstocks.  I allowed the left side to overhang and notched the end.  A Pure Poppy button tied with Pure Poppy Baker's Twine finishes the accent.

Train closeup
I love how the Desktop File Cards almost take on a unique version of an old-school flashcard.

I know many of you are always asking for inspiration when it comes to projects for little boys, and I hope this collection provides a few ideas for you.

Sped Limit Card
I was inspired to create my own version of a customized speed limit sign for this next project, perfect for a pre-teen.  They will love seeing something like this customized with their very own age.

Speed limit
I die-cut the letters using the Modern Alphabet Upper dies and True Black cardstock.  The numbers were die-cut using the By the Numbers dies.  The white cardstock background was impressed with the Simple Stripes Impression Plate.

Car
I die-cut the car from white cardstock and stamped it with the coordinating image from Little Hot Rod using Terracotta Tile ink.  I added "Birthday Boy" from Enjoy the Ride suing True Black ink.  Smokey Shadow cardstock was added to the bottom of the card to ground the car and achieve the look of a pave road.  I used a small strip of Summer Sunrise striped paper to the center of the road to represent the "yellow line".

Be a Star Card
For my next project I wanted to do a bit of color blocking.  I cut blacks of Blueberry Sky, New Leaf & Enchanted Evening.  I rounded all of their corners with a corner rounder punch and stamped them with various stars from Super Stars using VersaMark ink.

Focal
I die-cut the vehicles from white cardstock and stamped the coordinating images from Little Hot Rod using Charcoal Palette ink.  They were all adhered with foam tape.

Down
The Enchanted Evening block in the lower corner was heat embossed with a sentiment from Super Stars using White Filigree Embossing Powder.  Everything is adhered to a Smokey Shadow card base.

Yeah! Card
For my last card, I wanted to use a bright & bold color scheme of Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, Hibiscus Burst, , Sweet Blush and a touch of Berry Sorbet.

Background
I kept the Modern Alphabet dies wired together and I was able to use it in one piece to impress the Hibiscus Burst background.  I swiped the edges with Fresh Snow ink to help accent the impressed pattern.

Focal
I die-cut Modern Alphabet from Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, Sweet Blush & Berry Sorbet cardstocks.  Each of the letters was adhered with foam tape.   I pieced together the sentiment block stamped in different colors, from an image found in Framed Out #6.  Everything was matted with Summer Sunrise cardstock and then mounted on a Pure Poppy card base.

Wow! What a line up already: something for boys, amazing new dies, more of Dawn’s beautiful handwriting and woodgrain…oh my!

About that woodgrain, I am from a small logging community in the Pacific Northwest where the logging companies, lumber mill and U.S. Forest Service are major employers, where hunting and fishing have no ‘seasons’ and where woodgrain is NEVER out of fashion!

Can’t wait to see more of what’s in store!

I also adore the little hot rod set. My son’s nickname in “hot road,” so I am sure this will be a set he can use too.
