I grew up in South Africa, so our vacations were in December. My all time favorite one was December 1995. It was the first time I went away with girl friends. We first went to Sun City and the Cape Town. We had the time of our lives!
A week on Martha’s Vineyard…good friends, perfect weather. It was beautiful and relaxing. I came back recharged and 5 lbs lighter- how often does that happen?
The best summer vacation I ever had was spent at Virginia Beach. One week at a waterfront mansion, no clocks and no worries. Sun and fun, period.
The best summer vacation was going up to see lighthouses in Maine. I love everything about Maine.
Spending a week at the beach at and old place with no wifi so I was OFF THE GRID for 8 days. I had my dogs and my friends and relaxed. I have to admit tho, I missed being in the know sometimes. 🙂
In about 1987, my husband and I and some of our friends went to Point Sebago in Maine with our young children – it was a combination camping/resort, and at that time in our lives, a big splurge! – and the kids had so much fun! I’ll always remember it fondly as one of our first “big” family vacations.
We live 1,000 miles away from our families so each summer vacation we go home and our kids get to see their grandparents and cousins, watch baseball games, eat sweet corn and enjoy the Midwestern summer weather – one more week and we start this year’s trip – can’t wait!
The best vacation I have ever had was the summer my daughter, two grandsons and myself traveled by car to all the national parks. We traveled for three weeks and enjoyed seeing so many wonderful things. What a great trip!
The best summer vacation I ever had was as a child; my grandparents took my sister and I on a road trip to Northern California and the Bay Area. I loved the Redwoods and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge. We kept stopping at diners searching for the “perfect” chocolate milkshake. Thanks for the chance to win.

I always loved the two weeks we would spend in the summer with my grandparents in Louisiana. We would bake, crochet, make candy and play with cousins! Loved it!!

Probably the summer my family drove down to the US and drove across country. We were going to a friend’s wedding in Washington, and we camped and stopped to visit other friends and family & sightsee on our way out and on the way back.
The best vacation I have ever had was two summers ago when my husband and I went to Aspen, the Grand Canyon, New Mexico, and Las Vegas. We had the best time driving from destination to destination. We saw so many cool things! Lots of awesome memories from that trip!!
We go to New Jersey to see my sister and I just loved bringing both of my girls to the beach for the very first time!

We had several holidays growing up at beaches on the East Coast of Australia renting holiday houses, they’ve kind of all blended together in my memory as a great summer family holiday.
Going to Alaska and up through the New England states
The best summer vacation I’ve ever had was the year my husband and I took our children to Disneyland and then up the coast to San Francisco and Muir Woods. We camped on the beach, we walked in the redwoods. It was lovely.
We went to Ireland for 2 weeks! Our son was studying there for a semester, so we got there as he was finishing up his classes. It was so nice to see him after a few months of being apart, and seeing Ireland all together!
I think the best summer vacation I ever had was when I and a friend went for 6 weeks to explore the West Coast of US. I had never been to the US before but my friend knew a family up in Washington State. It was weeks of traveling, exploring, visiting lots of different places and meeting new friends.
My Mom and Dad didn’t travel much. A couple of years after Dad died, I took Mom and my dog to a relative’s house on Cranberry Island, Maine. She loved it. The house is right on the water and she would sit for hours on the porch or we’d be on the beach. The dog would be lying in the water with the waves lapping and Mom would just sit on a big boulder and poke around in the sand with a stick looking for seaglass. We did that for several years until her death and I am so happy that I was able to give her that.

The best summer vacation I ever had was when we visited France and stayed in a gorgeous tower overlooking a river with family and friends. We had a hilarious time together with a bread machine nearly exploding, nearly missing trains meaning we’d have to sleep out somewhere, wine tasting etc. Some really fun and happy memories. Actually you’ve reminded me I must scrapbook them! Thank you for the opportunity to win such an amazing prize, this release is FABULOUS!!
The last summer vacation before we had kids. We went to the UK, were there for three weeks, and we only had three days of rain. The weather was perfect, the food was great, the views and sights were amazing. And we didn’t have any little people to chase. Of course, we didn’t know at the time what that meant!
I have to say some of my best summers were spent in Arizona with my Grandparants.

The best summer vacation I had was the summer my son turned one. It was like seeing the world all anew again when he experienced all the things of summer: sand,sun, and water. It was wonderful seeing the newness of it all again.
I love history and visiting Gettysburg was a highlight on one summer vacation.
The best vacation I ever had was visiting Mexico with my dad. I climbed Chichen Itza, explored Uxmal and swam in a cenote.
The best summer vacation was when I went to India for our first Family reunion. Had a blast visiting cousins and their children. Seeing my mom get together with all her brothers and sisters, in one place was so special to me. That week In India will always be the best. Letting my children meet and spend a special bond with their cousins from all different parts of the world was a treasure.
Don’t really have Summer holidays but a few years ago I visited my sister when she was working in Romania and we went to stay in a small rural village in Transylvania – I’ll never forget the beauty of the mountains and countryside, the sound of children playing and hens clucking outside our lodge, and the wild flower meadows everywhere. The smell of woodsmoke still takes me back there.
The summer vacation I remember as a kid was after graduating high school. The 3 kids and mom and dad driving from Florida to New Jersey to visit family. Lots of fun at the hotels and then the memories with the cousins. Thanks Nichole.
Choosing one is difficult but being by the sea and relaxed with my family is my common theme of contentment.
We spent a week in a rented condo on the beach in Oceanside. Opening the door and hearing the ocean is simply incredible!
10 years ago my in-laws bought a beach house and every summer since we have spent out holidays there…..it’s been where we have played games, relaxed, enjoyed meals together and spent time at the beach. I can’t choose a favorite!
I think the best summer vacation I ever had was when I was around 8 or 9. My father’s sister lived in Dallas, TX, and we drove there from Baltimore, MD. It took several days, and my parents took the scenic route. I remember stopping in little “ma and pa” motels with fun playgrounds and swimming pools, at campy roadside attractions (which were a wonder to little kids), and marveling in awe at crossing the Mississippi River. I also remember driving down the same road in the back of my uncle’s convertible (unseatbelted at that time) that the Kennedy convoy traveled when he was shot. It was a trip I’ve never forgotten for both its fun and serious moments.
My best summer vacation was my honeymoon in Aruba. I would love to go back again one day with my husband!

My best summer vacations were when my boys were younger and hubby and I would drive cross country to Nebraska the hubby’s side family reunion. The boys had such fun on the farm, hubby and I got to visit with family and hear stories and just hang out. I Miss those family reunions.
Going to Bermuda 10 years ago with hubby and kids + 20 other people. Our friend turned 40 and treated his family and close friends to a celebration holiday there :).
Stayed in Michael Douglas’s hotel, swam in clear blue water and soaked up the sun on white beaches. Best Holiday ever.

My favorite vacation was the 2 weeks off from work and NO PLANS! How fun it was to just get up in the morning and have coffee on the porch and decide what I wanted to do that day. Such a refreshing change from all the running around and hectic pace. I’m thinking I need another one of those!

After both high school and college I took a trip to Europe with friends. I’m not much of an adventurous person but those trips were wonderful and I’m so grateful for the experience. Can’t wait to go back!
My favorite vacation was an all girl week at the beach! My mom and I, the cousins & Aunts, and grandmothers (both in their 80’s!) rented a beach house together. We had an outstanding time. Meals were done lickety split & laundry never piled up. Best of all… I saw these ever important women in my life through a new light. They let their hair down and had fun. The bonds of that trip will be with me forever!
The best summer vacation I’ve had so far was last year. We traveled to Bar Harbor, Maine. It was a trip of a lifetime for me – something I have always wanted to do and it was everything I had hoped for. There are no words to express how much I loved New England and Maine particularly.

The best summer vacation was when my husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary several years ago on our first cruise. We had been parents for a few years and had never been aways from our kids for more than a night or two and never at the same time. It was great for us AND them! We relaxed and enjoyed ourselves and missed the kids (always a good sign, lol!).
Neighbors loaned us their cottage up north every summer when we were young, loved seeing the deer and picking the wild blueberries, fishing with Dad (he fished I read a book)great memories
My favorite vacation was when my husband had a long term assignment to Seattle. It was a 9 mo paid vacation. We had a great time seeing the sights and taking the ferry boats and going to Canada. What a treat for a family from KS.
One of my best summer vacations ever was when I was a teen. My parents took us (me and my 6 siblings) camping to Myrtle Beach. With that many kids, camping was our only option for vacationing and we loved it!
Us kids always had someone to ‘hang’ with and we were never bored. We were very close to the beach and would spend lots of time in the sand and surf during the day and at night we would sit around the campfire telling stories and jokes, singing and just having fun being together. So many years later, all of us kids as well as our parents remember those times with fondness.
We looked forward to those trips every year!
Any summer during Uni. Friends would all come home from various cities and we would spend weeks hanging out, playing touch football and cricket on the beach, board games round a table late in the afternoon…..drinks at night, many laughs and many memories still held close even after 20 years.
It took us 17 years to save up for our first REAL vacation. We spent 12 days in Calgary, Edmonton, Jasper, Lake Louise & Banff, Alberta, Canada. It was my husband’s first time on an airplane, too! He passed away unexpectedly a year later so the memories from this trip are extra special.
I would say last summer when we took a trip to the Wisconsin Dells for a few days. It was a trip that we didnt expect a whole lot from and we loved every part of it. It was relaxing (and I can seldom let go and relax) and just plain fun. We just got back from a return trip there this year where we stayed twice as long as we did last year and we would like to make it a yearly trip!
As a kid (and now as an adult) we spend a month at Bethany Beach in Delaware. It’s my second home and I couldn’t imagine summer vacation anywhere else!
I remember a summer camping trip to Yellowstone Park as a kid when everyone in the campground was woken by rangers alerting us to bears in the campground. It was fascinating to watch the rangers smear peanut butter on bread with their hands and use that as bait to lure the mama bear and her two cubs into a big barrel trap. After many tries, all 3 bears were finally in the trap together and they were relocated to a more remote part of the park. It’s a memory that has always stayed with me.
I used to spend the summer with my father’s sister and her family. She taught me to garden, can & pick blackberries. We made homemade ice cream and spent summer nights outside catching fireflies. Simple things! Those have been the things that have been my role model for parenting my own children and hopefully creating wonderful memories for them & our grandchildren.
Hands down, our trip to Alaska. We took the Alaska Railroad tour. Every day had side trips, cruises, hiking, bear searching, a small plane ride, and visiting Denali. Just amazing!
Hawaii for sure! It wasn’t really a ‘summer’ vacation, since it was in March and my kids were still in school, but I’ll count it none the less! We began on Oahu, then ventured over to the Big Island! Can’t wait to go back and visit a few more islands!
The last trip my family was all together ,befor they grew up and left the nest. It was the most beautiful trip to Jackson Hole, and Yellowstone National Park. I will cherish every moment of that wonderful trip.
The best summer vacation I ever had was a trip to a Bed and Breakfast in upstate New York. We had my immediate family and a whole lot of our extended family attend. It was like a family reunion. The best part of it was staying in the huge Victorian house. It was awesome!!
Some of my fondest summer memories were spent at my grandparents’ house. We would go and stay for a week. They lived in the country and had a huge garden and my grandmother cooked every day so lots of meals with vegetables from the garden and playing outside everyday…what fun!
My husband and I did a tour of the Loire Valley in France. We had a guide book that listed lots of ancient houses full of charm to stay in. We stayed in age-old mills and rambling manoirs, breakfasted in baronial halls and dipped our toes in ornamental pools. The best one was a very atmospheric petit chateau in the middle of nowhere. The entrance was up a curving double flight of steps. Outside, the heat was intense and the view from the cool of our room was of a field of sunflowers. What made it so special was the faded grandeur inside, a glimpse into a former time enhanced by the gracious hospitality of the artistocratic owners.
Going home to the Philippines and having my parents meet my daughter for the first time!!
If you ask my kids they will actually say Last year even though my husband had his hours cut & we couldn’t travel anywhere or spend as we would have liked. I made it my mission to plan our Summer & look for Free Fun. We were able to do Free Bowling,Free Movies, Free Museum trips and other free fun. This year already I’ve been told Mama how are you going to top last year? OH Mama has plans! Seeing and hearing the happiness and giggles is the best gift of the Summer to me!
The best summer vacation was two years ago. I live at PR, and all my closest family members (mom, dad, my siblings and their husbands, my hubbie and daughter) traveled to Walt Disney all together for the 1st time ever. It was amazing gathering for a trip all at once and for the most of the group, it was their 1st time ever at Disney. So much to discover! The best friend of my youngest sister with her family members, travel too to surprise her. It was a blast! everything came out wonderful and we had so much fun for 9 days.
I wish we can repeat it again soon…. (*sigh*)
My best vacations were summers at Hilton Head with my husband and kids when they were little. I think about them all the time.
I would have to say it was the time we went to Toronto for the World Fair. We had some much fun but our feet were killing us!
When our kids were younger, we used to rent a condo on the beach on the west coast of Florida during part of the summer. We were frequently joined by other family members. Those are some of the best times we’ve ever had.
My best summer vacation was when the kids were little, we were poor as dirt, but would spend a week at a camp ground close to town. The women would stay at the campground with the kids while the men would go into town to work.It was the best of times!

The best summer vacation memories are spending time at my Grandparents little cabin in southern Sweden. Super cozy and quite primitive right by a little lake. Oh how we loved to play and swim there. Good times indeed. 🙂
When I was a kid and young adult my favorite summers always involved summer camp. How I loved having a week free from my parents, swimming everyday, archery, arts and crafts. It was the best time ever.
Summer vacations at Daytona Beach. Money was tight so six of us (four kids and hubby and me) stayed in a small, very small, room with a tiny kitchenette. We always had such a good time and those memories are cherished ones.
The best summer for me was going to Atlantic beach N.C. Our family had a cottage there.
The best summer vacation I ever had was the last time we went to Disney with our girls. They were at just the right ages to appreciate all that we got to see and still have the wide-eyed enthusiasm for everything Disney.
Up until now, it was probably the big Disney vacation we did when I was about 12! I still remember so many wonderful moments from that. But soon it will be the big Disney vacation that we are currently planning to take our own kids on. I hope they will have as many wonderful, magical memories as I do!

Best summer vacation was when my husband proposed on 4th of July under the fireworks in Oklahoma where we were visiting his family. It was a complete shock. Changed my whole perspective on summer! 😉
Growing up we ran a resort so our summer vacations were spent working but they were the best summers and best ” working vacations” ever!
My best vacation was when my husband and I took a road trip out west. We were able to see so many beautiful sites – Yellowstone, The Grand Canyon, The Petrified Forest and so many more.
Last summer we went to Maine with friends….gorgeous unspoiled landscapes and water, quaint little island, unplugged from the rest of the world. I didn’t expect it would be as wonderful as it was so that made the trip even better!
My best vacation was with my family when I was growing up. We drove from IL to CO to see my cousins. My 2 sisters & I in the back seat, mom & dad in the front. And we didn’t take the interstates, but the regular highways and saw so many sites that are missed if you go wizzing by on the interstates.
Yay! This release is awesome!!! My favorite vacation was when our family went to visit Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Mount Rushmore. We had so much fun, and I will never forget some of the moments we had!
Probably a trip to Collingwood, Blue Mountain and Wasaga beach in Ontario Canada when I was a kid…fun times climbing scenic caves and picnic on the beach…ahh the life.
My best summer vacations were the ones we spent in Colorado camping in the mountains! There is nothing like waking up to fresh cool mountain air and then making a yummy breakfast outdoors!
It’s a toss up – either San Diego, where we loved the zoo or vacation this year which was a road trip through parts of Central Virginia and North Carolina.
When my son was little we used to go to Queensland (Australia) every year and have a family holiday. Now that my son is a grown man I look at those holidays with a smile on my face and great memories
Last summer with my two boys visiting our family for a month across country. Nothing like spending time with the ones you love most.
4 years ago we went on a cruise to Alaska–Beautiful! we traveled with another family and shared a wonderful, fun-filled, yummy, and relaxing adventure. can’t wait to go again
We rented 3 cabins in Frankin, NC and we spent a week with the entire family and it was the best time ever.
I went to the Outer Banks with my whole family and some extended family a few years ago. It was my first time there and I fell in love with it. It was also a great chance to spend more time with everyone and bond.
Taking my family to see the Grand Canyon (and more sights too). I had been a dream of mine to travel cross country and re-discover the western USA with my family as my parents had done with me when I was a teenager. It was a fabulous trip, enjoyed by all!
The best summer vacation I ever had was in San Antonio, Texas. It was a beautiful place and we all had a ball.
I grew up going to Wells Beach at the southern tip of Maine every summer. I have lots of great memories and can’t say as there is any one vacation that was the best, but I treasure all the memories of family and the beach over the years!
Easy question, but I have a tie for best! My husband and I took a small cruise ship in Alaska. All I can say is it was a trip with amazing beauty everywhere you looked. The other, similar but different, we took a safari in Kenya. Again the beauty was beyond words. Both trips changed the way I looked at the Earth in all her glory!
The best summer vacation I ever had happened last summer when we finally cleared our lot right near a big river and put our very first camper on it. We spent 2 total weeks there and I did some “Campin’ Stampin’ ” and had a blissful 2 weeks away from everything!!!
My best summer vacation was a long weekend at a music festival in Belgium with my husband and friends. Great music and great company 🙂
I had wonderful summers growing up spent in NC with my grandparents. However, my favorite recent trip was when my hubby took me to Hawaii for our 15th anniversary. What an awesome vacation! Thanks for a chance to win from this awesome release! =o)
My best summer vacations were the ones that I spent with my cousins in a little town in Spain. My mother would put my sister and me on a plane and we would spend the summer immersed in the culture of her home. I loved the cobblestone streets, going to the open air markets, the beautiful old buildings, and spending time with my relatives whom I only saw once a year.
Last Christmas (yes it was summer) we stayed in a lovely beach house for 3 nights. Christmas by the beach, my eldest son home from the other side of the world, all the family together (including grandparents), long walks on the beach with hardly anyone else, a new place to explore, lots of birds and to top it off fairy penguins!!!!
My best vacation was probably when we went to the beach last summer. We had such a fun time!
My best summer vacation was in California. We spent it with another family who was ‘ the same speed” as we were. All worked out wonderfully and our single boys enjoyed themselves immensely.
The fondest summer vacation memory I have was a trip to Key West with my family when I was in Junior High School. It was my first visit to the Keys and I have been enamored ever since!
Ooh, that’s a tough one! I think I’d have to say, despite being 7 months pregnant and sleeping on the ground in a tent on the way there and back, would be our trip to B.C. for my twin brother’s wedding eight years ago. We’re returning this summer to celebrate our 40th birthday and I’m really looking forward to it!

The year my husband retired we drove across country from NY to California, stopping at 12 National Parks and ending up at my daughter’s for a week outside San Francisco. We had stunning weather the whole month, and saw so many wonderful places. I’d go again in a second.
My mother and I took my two oldest sons on a tour if the west: South Dakota, Yellowstone, Salt Lake, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and Colorado Springs. While on the trip, I found out I was pregnant with son #3, so really, they all were on the trip!
Camping across Newfoundland starting on the southeast side (Argentia) and covering the entire island over the next 10 days. My favorite place was New World Island and Twillingate (where we saw icebergs) … also the fjords in Gros Morne National Park.
For our 25th anniversary we took off for Pikes Peak, no reservations made. Our intent was to stay in Military lodging as we traveled. A week of exploring with no deadlines, yeah! We called ahead to see if rooms we available along the way almost every time we were told no but when we arrived a room was found. When we arrived at Colorado Springs the same was true, we stopped anyway at the Academy and ask for a room. We were told ok…I sighed relief and said oh good today is our 25th anniversary. The young lady looked at John and asked if he would like a suite, it had its own parking spot and the most wonderful view of Pikes Peak. The whole trip was filled with blessings as such. Just the most fun we have ever had…we need to do that again!
My best summer vacation would have to be the year I got married. We traveled to the States to get married during summer vacation and had our honeymoon in Florida at Disney World. It was perfect 🙂

My family has never done much in the way of a Summer vacation. Especially now that we’ve moved to New Zealand, and Christmas and every birthday we can imagine seems to fall in the middle of Summer. However, about 5 years ago, we went to Queenstown for a holiday for a few days. It was short and nothing really special about it, but having my nana from Korea and just having the whole family together was something rather special. Not to mention, we didn’t have to drive all weekend in a rush like our typical holidays! 😉
The best summer vacation I ever had involved going nowhere. It was after I had taught for over twenty years. For all those years I spent big parts of the summer either working another job, going to grad school, or teaching summer school. Finally, ten years ago, I took the entire summer off! It was just what I needed and I loved the free, unscheduled time. That summer was wonderful.
The best vacation was when I was a child and my parents, along with come cousins, took all of us kids to the zoo. It was an amazing zoo and we had soo much fun with the family.
December 2000 (Summer in Australia!)I went to Hayman Island in the Whitsundays – heavenly. Even better, my husband of 10 years proposed to me by the magnificent pool whilst under the stars. So romantic.
My best summer vacations were to my grandparents place in India where all cousins would get together and have fun ! That was the best place and best vacation ever !

The best “summer” vacation I ever had was in January of 2005 when I spent a week in Hawaii with my sister. We left in a snowstorm and landed in tropical paradise!

Dale Hollow Lake State Park, KY. We had a pontoon boat that you could ski behind. And a bunch of our friends had boats, and we stayed the whole wknd, and camped, swam, cooked out. It was a blast!
Every summer we’d spend a week at my aunt’s house with my cousins, and always had the best times. My favorite was when I was about 12, we had all gotten our own life jackets and spent the week in the pool and boating around the bay playing “Rescue Crew 2000,” our own version of Baywatch! We still laugh about that now, and we’re all going back there this summer for SAF!
My best summer vacation was spent at Disney World with my family, even though I’m now 35, being back at Disney with my parents always brings back so many great memories.
Hmmm, I’m going to have to say Disney World as a child. I’d really love to take my kids there some day – there really is something so magical about that place.
Oh goodness, I’ve had some great vacations. One of my favorites was when my daughter and I flew to California a few years ago. It was a great time.
As a kid one summer my family got a house boat and spent a week at Lake Powell in AZ. I had the best time!
I have been fortunate to share many vacations with my family. but the most memorable was our 3 week road trip from Ohio to the West Coast with four kids ranging in age from 6 to 12. On that trip, we discovered one child had motion sickness and another had impetigo! The trip started out rough, but once we got past those issues we had a great time!
We have year round summer vacation in Singapore. Think is to go overseas with family.
I love all my vacations, the beach, DC, what’s not to love about all of them, after all they are vacation. 🙂
Going to Cape Cod every year when we were kids – it was so fun just fishing, swimming and riding our bikes. Those were the good ole days!
Evert summer when I was a kid we went to my maternal grandmother’s hometown. She lived in a tiny seaside town in the Philippines. We went to the beach everyday, bought fish straight from the boat, and generally played until it was too dark out.
Oef, what a tough question this is… I have more than one… But if I had to choose, it would be the vacation in Mexico! We had six weeks in total (that helped, hi hi) and we saw so many gorgeous places! It was relaxed and we had perfect weather! Loved it!!

Loved the ones with my family, but the year my twin and I went to Washington DC to stay with a life-long school friend (we were all 20 years old — 40 years ago!), was the best. It was July and super hot, but the museums were glorious. After catching a ride with our friend going to work, we’d hang out on the dinosaurs on the mall, and wait for everything to open up. Sigh.

My best summer vacation was the year I graduated college. My roommate’s sister lived in San Francisco and we went to visit her for a week. Lots of wine and food! When I got home, I did the laundry and packed again to leave the next day for Myrtle Beach with my family for a week!
My most favorite vacation was when I was 30 and saw the ocean for the FIRST time! It was on the east coast and I was in awe of the magnitude of that ocean! I did not want to leave when it was time to go! It’s been several years since I’ve been to the beach and now thinking of it makes me want to go again!

My best vacation was the time we took our kids to Disney world. It was a combination work/vacation while I was attending a conference. My husband took the kids to the park every day and I joined them at night. We got to stay at the dolphin hotel. The pool was great and the whole week was awesome.
Nothing comes to mind right away but working at a school for the last 5 years I get my summers off with the kids and these have been the best summers! I love having lazy days as well as crazy busy ones driving them to different activities…. I feel very best to hang out with them all summer!
My best vacation was the summer we took the kids on the Disney cruise. First we went to Disney World and spent a few days there and then went on the cruise. It was such a great experience. We all had such a great time. My kids still talk about it to this day.
One of the best vacations I have ever been on is when my husband and I drove around lake Michigan on our first anniversary. I little camping, some B&Bs, and a lot of exploring. Great memories!
the best summer vacation I have in a long time was when hubby me and our daughter decided to drive from Ontario, Canada to Pigeon Forge…we visited Dollywood and the Ripley Museum and stayed on a few extra days ..loved the mountains, spectacular..we drove up a mountain edge road and at the top stood with one foot on each side of the Tennessee/ Carolina border…this being in 2 places at once just happened to be on our daughters bucket list…she got to check that off
My best summers are always spent in Maine. My grandparents lived there when I was a child and I would spend summers with them. Now I am continuing the tradition with my own children by spending the summer in the same town that my grandparents loved.
The best summer vacation I had was a trip to see the Tour de France. Cycling up the mountains to watch the race with all the locals was a unique experience.
My favorite summer vacation was in Williamsburg, VA with my family many, many years ago. We discovered a small sign “Sherwood Forest”. Upon driving up the driveway we discovered a small house with a maid outside. It was the home of one of our presidents, John Tyler. We were the third set of visitors that they had in a year. Our private tour allowed me to hold Mrs. Tyler’s wedding shoes and the infamous Tippecanoe and Tyler Too flag. The tour ended with my family and I sitting and talking with John Tyler III in the library. After all these years I still enjoy remembering this fabulous experience.
My favorite summer trip was spending it with my husband and parents in Alaska to celebrate our anniversaries–our 25th; mom and dad’s 50th! The weather was perfect; the scenery was spectacular; the company was priceless!
The last family vacation I took with my parents. We went to Disney World and I was old enough to understand how much they were paying for the trip and to show them how much I appreciated it by treating them to a nice dinner. I am leaving very soon to take my daughter on her very first trip to Disney – I think this trip might become my new favorite.
Family reunion in Tennessee for my parents 50th anniversary…whole family–22 of us–in one big log home for a whole week. Everyone thought we would be fighting by the end of the week, but instead we had a blast.

The best — is really very difficult. When I was a child, the open and free days of summer were the “best” — time… nothing but time …. to lay on the grass and watch the clouds, to make marigold salad, to go to camp, to play, to read, read, read

Funny enough, our best summer vacations have been in Disney. We camp at Fort Wilderness every year and spend three glorious weeks visiting with Mickey and his friends. Certainly not what everyone would call fun, but even our 22 yr. old daughter still begs to come every year. We love it there which is why when we find a vacation spot we love and have such great memories of, we keep repeating it!
A week in the Colorado Rockies on a “dude ranch” with family. We got to go hiking, horseback riding, shopping in Estes Park and more! One of the best parts was the meal plan (no work or thinking for anyone) and all the fun family activities like Bingo, craft classes, trivia night, etc. Great!

The best summer vacation was spent with my DH and two gorgeous kids on Zakynthos, Greece about 4 years ago. We were in a wonderful hotel right next to the beach. We had glorious weather, jummie food and the kids had a great time.

My parents took my sister and I to the Virgin Islands when I was 10 and it was such a great trip that my husband and I took our son and daughter when they were that age – and it was a wonderful trip! So glad I could give them the same memory I had in that magical place. We still talk about it!
We spent one week in August every year at Houghton Lake in northern Michigan. We kept this tradition all of my youth and even after my father past. I have some of the most cherished memories from those vacations.
The best vacation was the summer our family traveled/camped our way to Alaska. We visited family in Seatle, WA then made our way up & into Canada–Alaskan Hwy.–Beautiful mountains & scenery! Also traveled the inside passage by ferry to Juneau & flew to the Island of Sitka ( wedding there) before making our way by car to the main land of Alaska to visit a family friend & see more beautiful sights! Month long trip & a very special time!
Summer of 2000 we were transferred to the Aussie outback, it was hot hot hot but we made great friends and our families were up from the city to join us.
I normally don’t take summer vacations, but the best summer vacation I had was going to South Dakota with my fiance a couple of years ago. I LOVED Custer State Park and all the wildlife especially the burrows that came up to our jeep and ate out of our hands. Good times! And Mount Rushmore is something to see first hand. It was amazing!
I am reading a familiar theme here! Disney! I was lucky enough to be selected as a cultural representative for Disney in my third year of University a few years ago and worked the summer as a skipper on the Jungle Cruise ride. Loved it! My parents came down to pick me up and stayed two weeks after my last day and we had a fabulous vacation since I was able to show them all the tips, tricks and hidden gems of Disney. It was magical and so fabulous!! I miss everyone there and hope to have a reunion very soon!
My best summer vacation is something I do every summer. I leave the Florida heat and escape to the family cabin nestled in the mountains on a pristine lake in Northern Idaho. The extended family is all there and it is a time full of memories, laughter, and rejuvenating.
The best Summer vacation I have ever had would have been when we visited Hayman. Such a beautiful place in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. So peaceful.
Last summer my son and I took a 3 week road trip with my parents. We hit 15 states, from California to Michigan. Aside from all of the wonderful sights along the way, making wonderful memories with my son and parents was priceless!
My best summer vacation has to last years trip to Disney World. Even though it was HOT, HOT, HOT (did I mention it was HOT), we had a wonderful time. It was worth all the heat to see the expressions on the grandkids faces when they saw “Mickey” and friends. We are planning on going back next year, but will go at a cooler time.
One of my best vacations was going to the Maldives it is breathtaking my favourite part of the holiday was seeing the baby sharks swim up to the island !!

My best summer vacation was spent in a little cabin on a lake in Canada. It was so peaceful, tranquil and quiet. You could hear the loons at night and it was just a picture perfect vacation setting.
First fabulous new release! So many I want! My best vacation yikes I have two, of course my Honeymoon was amazing in Jamaica the whole atmosphere was amazingly beautiful and we didn’t have to lift a finger for anything! My second was the first time taking my son to the ocean those memories can never be replaced, thanks for bringing the memory forward and making me smile all over again just thinking about them!

The best summer vacations I have had we’re when the whole family spent a week in a cottage on Kiawah Island in SC – catching crabs, building sandcastles, riding the bike paths, finding sand dollars on the beach….

The best vacation ever was when my husband and I visited his grandparents in Ft. Myers, FL (many years ago). It was the first time I saw the ocean…..will never forget that feeling.
I always have great memories of my family going to upstate NY with aunts, uncles, cousins. We went to “dude ranches” & family resorts, swam all day, ate home made ice cream and had ice cold bottles of soda from a huge “ice chest”….I still love to look at the old photos.
We used to drive from West Michigan to Cedar Point for vacations. One year we stopped on the way home and camped in a state park in Indiana. Great memories that keep flooding back.
The best summer vacation I ever had was spent in Barcelona, Spain. It was a wonderful city trip with my boyfriend, to explore this fantastic city, the Art Nouveau and Gaudi!
We took a family vacation 2 years ago and went to California. We went to Disneyland, spent a day at Huntington Beach, and then drove up the coast and stayed with my best friend from school – they live in Arroyo Grande/Pismo Beach. We had a bonfire on the beach and walked to a cool sandwich shop for lunch. Her parents came down for the day and it was soo much fun to just hang out with the waves, the fire and friends! My kids loved the ocean and we loved that trip!
Last summer we took our daughters to San Diego. While living in Arizona, I spent many summer vacations there as a teen, and my husband and I took several vacations there also. It was great to show our kids our favorite spots and activities. They loved playing in the surf and walking along the beach. Magical and memorable.
My best summer vacation was going to Florida with my husband and our three children and canoeing on the Peace River and finding fossils.
The year we went to Cape Cod – beautiful weather, beaches, good food, shopping = bliss.
That would be the first week that my family and I went to Ocean City, Maryland. My boys were young, but not so young that I couldn’t relax and enjoy myself. In fact, they spent most of the time running around with their cousins. It’s a favorite for all of us, good people, great weather and very relaxing and enjoyable.

some of my best summer vactions memories come from summers spent at my Grandparents home!! They lived about a 12 hour drive away, near the ocean, on a farm. I loved going there, we could explore all day long, pick berries and come home to homemade goodies…we would have bonfires on the beach at night, it really was the best way to spend a vacation.
The best summer vacation I ever had coincided with my 50th birthday. My husband took me to San Francisco, then to the wine country. We went to Muir Woods, drove the Northern Cali coast and stopped in Half Moon Bay for lunch. What an amazing blessing!
When I was 14 we went to Assateaque Island to see the wild horses. The beach was amazing and the horses were fabulous. We learned how to fish for crab..so much fun.
It’s a toss-up…a Disney vacation and cruise with my sister’s family and cousin’s family… or a week in a rented cottage with five other families and friends. I love to think back on both of those vacations and remember the fun we had.
We didn’t vacation much when I was a child, so the thing that stands out most in my mind was a stay-cation. My dad was off for the week and we did all sorts of things locally – the zoo, lunch at a small airport, horse races, a baseball game, etc. Almost every day, a new activity. Loved it. As an adult, we traveled to the east coast visiting college for my oldest son. We had some unexpected pleasures, including finding we were only a short distance from Sleepy Hollow and the home of Washington Irving. As a librarian, that is a fun happenstance.

My best summer vacation was the one I had every summer we were in the states. I was an Air Force brat but when were in the U.S. we would get to go spend the summer with my grandparents and aunt and uncle in Texas. We played outside all day catching bugs, crawdads, riding horses, moving cows from one pasture to the next, just being free to do what we wanted. I wish my children had the same freedoms we had when we were children.
My best summer vacation was the nearly annual trip to Acadia National Park in Maine. Still one of my most relaxing vacations ever. Thanks for the opportunity to win a great prize!
My best vacation was in 2005. I needed a vacation badly as I had not gone anywhere the prior year. I decided I wanted to go on a cruise by myself. I needed some alone time and some sunshine. So I could tell my friends that I did something on the ship, I decided to go to the singles event that evening. It was being held in the piano bar and when I went in there was just a small group sitting at one end of the bar so I sat down at the other end. In just a few minutes, this very nice looking gentleman asked if the seat beside me was taken and could he have a seat? So I said it was available. From that encounter, we eventually spent the rest of the cruise together. Two years later we were married and we will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this year. BEST VACTION EVER!
I have to start with ALL summer vacations are great!!! No school, time with family, fun!!! Two years ago we took our 7 and 6 year olds on a 2 week trip to see Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, 4 Corners, Lake Powell, Arches National Park, and a few other spots in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado. We did great outings like a Hummer ride, search for dino tracks/fossils, white water rafting on the Colorado. It was a great time and the kids (growing up in NC) thought it was awesome! They talk about their adventures and regularly plan new National Park adventures. It was a long lasting memory for all of us!
Choosing the best summer vacation ever is not easy. Because of the memory of picking blueberries and making a pie with my grandmother, I would say the year we went to Nova Scotia when I was eight was the best.
We didn’t really take many summer vacations when I was young and actually haven’t since I’ve had children. Now, with a baseball/football player, there is no such thing as summer vacation as the summer baseball season runs right into the football season. So, my favorite summer vacation was the summer that I went to sleep away camp. It was fantastic and the only bad part was that I was only there for a week! Love the stamps this month!
We don’t get to go on vacation very often, but our first real family vacation was to Disney World 5 years ago and it was amazing! We had never been there, so we got to see it for the first time along with our kids. We left the day after school was out and it was an amazing time! Our youngest was only 1 when we went there so now that he’s 6 we hope to take them all again soon so they will all remember how much fun it is!
I’m anticipating that THIS summer we will have the best summer vacation ever!! Three days on my parents’ boat on Mackinac Island, followed by two weeks in our new house on Glen Lake (Michigan)!! It’s all a surprise for our three kids…I can’t wait to see their faces!!!
I hate to admit my best vacation was before my son was born but it was such an awesome trip. My husband and I drove up to Bar Harbor, Maine and went to Acadia National Park. We climbed Champlain Mountain. We then made our way down the coast of Maine, stopping along the way in quaint little towns. We stayed over a few days in different places then spent the last couple of days in York before heading home. We had the best time.
Every year we go to the East Coast to visit my in-laws. It’s always a great time.
The best summer vacation I ever had was when I spent the summer in Hawaii working as a camp counselor with two best friends. Great memories, great location, great adventures.
My husband and I took our three sons and my oldest son’s girlfriend at that time on a Caribbean cruise. I did things I have never done before – snorkel, swim with and feed stingrays, climb up a waterfall – but the absolute best part of the entire vacation was spending time with my family.
The one that stands out was the first time we went to the beach when my daughter was 10 months old. She just LOVED to watch the waves come and go 😀
My mom took us to Disney World when my daughter turned 4. She was ill and passed away the day after we returned but I know it was the lasting memory she wanted her granddaughter to have of her. My now 7 year old still talks fondly about our vacation with nana.
We took a trip out West for 2 weeks. Hiked all over in some of our most beautiful national parks. Tetons, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon. Toward the end, my kids said “no more mountains, we want to go home!”
This is a tough one but probably my very first overseas holiday without my parents, I went on a cruise to the south pacific. Man I had the best time.
The best summer vacation I had was when my husband and I went to Pensacola Florida 10 years ago. We loved it so much that we were going to move there. Didn’t work out but sure was fun thinking about it.
Every August for two weeks with my parents, brothers, sisters and various aunts, uncles and cousins at Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos. The great thing about it is that even though we currently live miles apart, we still get together there every summer and it is like we saw each other yesterday!
As a young teen, I spent the summer at my uncle’s dairy farm tending cows, driving tractor (illegally of course ;o), feeding chickens and collecting eggs, etc. You get the pic. To this day, the smell of manure is like perfume to me because it calls up all of those happy days. My uncle has passed on but he is always in my thoughts because of those great memories of the time we spent together.
A week that my husband booked in a thatched cottage, originally from the 1500’s then added onto and decorated so beautifully… a gorgeous garden too, in an incredible village in the Cotswolds! It was a dream come true!

Two of my sisters and I went down to the Badlands … 3-man tenting, I’d have to say despite some nasty storms…it was a blast and to me … there is nothing and I mean nothing like family time.
My very first visit to Disney in Orlando, FL. And, looking forward to giving that experience to my grand daughter for her 4th birthday celebration with the princess’ this fall. She is soooo excited. The anticipation is killing us both! We just can not wait!
Eight years ago we made our first trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. We were lucky enough to return three more times and drink in the beauty of that island. To me it is the most perfect place on earth!
We had a great time in Tennessee and North Carolina last summer and I stayed at The Preserve, which I first read about on your blog, Nichole! It was BEAUTIFUL and the kids LOVED our cabin–so much fun!
An Alaskan cruise with my husband just after our 18th anniversary. It was truly a getaway – beautiful scenery, royal treatment, even better company! Nine years later, I can relive every second. And I have a beautiful scrapbook of it too!
My best summer vacation is a family trip to Cape Cod when I was in my early teens. We didn’t take many trips so that one stands out for me in my memories.
When I was in college, my parents moved to Zimbabwe for a year so my dad could teach as a Fulbright scholar. My brother and I were able to visit them for one month during our summer break. It was an awesome family vacation!
When I was 10 and spent my first summer away from home with my BFF and her family in a cottage in Wasaga Beach. Her and I had so much fun, the memories are still so vivid today and yes, we remain BFF even now!
My parents rent a beach house on the Oregon coast to celebrate their wedding anniversary each summer. My brother and his family come out from Minnesota and we all spend a week exploring the beach, hiking, eating fresh crab. It’s great to spend time with the whole family–dogs included. Everyone loves this trip so we do it every year.
My all time favorite vacation was 7 years ago when we went to Maui for 10 amazing days. Lots of sand, lots of sun, and so many wonderful memories.
My best summer trip was my the first road trip I took with my Husband. When I said I had never seen mountains we got back in the car and drove until I had!
I have many best of summer vacations – but one particular nice one was when we went to Osh Kosh to a fly-in. We had just finished building our plane an RV 9A and we flew it in to Osh Kosh and boy did we have a blast. So many planes to look at – so many great people to meet.

We didn’t go on vacation growing up…but my grandma had a cabin (read “shack” 😉 at the lake. I have some very fond memories of spending time there. My first horrid sunburn, which granny treated with vinegar. Her bright colored aluminum glasses which always seemed to keep drinks super cold. Running on the beach…sometimes afraid to go in because the older boys told me Jaws lived in the swampy part of the lake.
I and my older sister got to spend the summer with my Aunt in Italy. We traveled all over Italy and even took a weekend trip to Germany. We had so much fun. I will never forget it.
The best summer vacation I ever had was a trip to Florida and a visit with a Blue Angels trainer at his home. We got to go to Cecil Field and fly a simulator for an FA-18 Jet Fighter and stand on the strip between the runways and watch the jets take off. It was awesome!

Our best summer vacation was when our kids were little and we traveled throughout central Colorado. We went camping and fishing and visited several amazing landmarks. The highlight of the trip was an encounter with a bear that ate our son’s fish….we talk and laugh about the whole experience to this day!! It was so much fun!!
When my daughter was 5, taking her to Disneyland for the first time…she loved everything about the park and still does.
When I was a kid, we headed for the mountains. It was the most magical trip that I have ever had. One of those things that can never be recreated.
The most rejuvenating and renewing summer I ever spent was one during which I stayed home and completely reworked my perennial border. When I was not gardening, I was reading out on the back deck. That was it. Bliss!
The year after our grandchildren came to live with us, we went to California. It was the first really big vacation they had ever had, and it was amazing to see their faces with every new experience! Who knew the ocean would be more exciting to them than Disney Land?!! It was amazing to experience it all with them!
I have had quite a few awesome summer vacations but I would say my favorite one was last summer when spontaneously I rented a fun little car and my kids and I drove up to the UP of Michigan. We visited the town that is named the same as our last name and got pics of us with the welcome sign. We also went to Mackinac Island. We did this with limited money but it was so much fun.
The best summer vacation I’ve ever had was the first time my parents took my brother and I to Disneyworld! The sights and rides were a blast! I will always remember how much they scrimped and saved so we could go.
My best summer vacation was the first time I went to Hawaii. So warm, so beautiful, so did not want to come home.
Our best vacation was a 9 day cruise out of NY to Martha’s Vineyard, Maine and Canada. We had booked and paid for the cruise and then my husband found out that after 15 years his job was being eliminated, 2 weeks before our trip-what do we do??. We decided to go since it already paid and there was no refund. It was the best thing we could have done for ourselves. This was our last vacation 5 years ago, so I’m hoping we can do this again.
I think one of the best summer vacations was one of our quickest. My husband and I took the kids into the city on a weekend and one day we went to the zoo. This was their first time seeing all the animals they had read about in books and seen on TV and in movies. They were just little (2 & 4) and enthralled. It was so much fun seeing their amazement of giraffes, zebras and elephants! We spent about 7 hours at the zoo that day and loved every minute of it!!
I loved the summer when my whole family traveled to Maine from Wyoming for a reunion. It was a completely new experience for us and I returned home to a proposal from my now- husband!
The best Summer vacation I’ve ever had is with my family — we went away to a family “ranch style” resort. My parents, sibilings, nieces and nephews — we all had such a great time. It was relaxing, and enjoyable to spend that time together – and I’m sure it will be a great memory for my children, as well. This summer we’re all going on a cruise together – and quite frankly, can’t wait! It’s going to be awesome :).
I think the year was 1985, my daughter, my mother and myself traveled to Europe to visit my mother’s home town in Scotland, then on to Wales, and England. My mother has since passed away, but we’ll always have the wonderful memories of that trip, so glad we did it then.
The best summer vacation I ever had was years ago when I took three of my neighbors kids to the beach with me for a week. They were ages 12,11 and 4; all girls. We had all saved money (except for the 4 year old!), and we stayed in a small efficiency room. We had the time of our lives. It was so wonderful that we never went back, for fear that it would never be the same.
It was about 5 years ago. A year after we lost a baby, we’ve been through so much we finally took our first family vacation. We went to Kentucky. Our other kids were about 7 and 4. We explored all different kinds of caves and things. It was the best, to spend time together and be happy again.
Our best summer vacation was a cruise and land tour in Alaska. It was our first cruise and I loved the nature, so unlike where we live.
The best summer vacation I had (which is now a yearly summer tradition) is spending time up in Wisconsin for “Family Weekend” with my husband, 2 kids, and the in-laws. We have such a great time sitting around a fire and laughing and eating great food and enjoying great company. I look forward to this every year!
The best summer vacation was when I was about 10 years old. I spent almost the entire summer on my grandparents’ farm which was about 500 miles from my home. Two of my sisters accompanied me and it started with the train ride there (by ourselves!) and ended with the sweetest memories of my grandparents. I will never forget it!!
Last year, hubby and I drive down the California coast and visit the Big Sur. The view is so amazing and the weather was perfect. We just love it and we both agree it was one of our favorite vacation!!
The best summer vacation I ever had was a trip to the Grand Canyon with my Mom and sister. I had never been to Arizona before and I had thought it would be all desert and cactus so I was surprised at the beautiful variety in the scenery. I will never forget that first look at the Grand Canyon. Also, it was one of my last trips with my Mom.

I have to laugh when people ask about vacations. My family didn;t have money for vactions growing up, and now i spend extra money to go visit family, which to me is not a vaction, a vaction is not doing the dishes! I don’t make enough to have extra, extra money for vacations. 🙂

St. Pete Beach in Florida with my husband. During the day we would sit by the pool and just talk and listen to music…at night we would walk the beach and head next door and listen to the band and dance. Such a beautiful and relaxing time. Thanks for the chance to win.

The first time our family went to Walt Disney World! There’s a good reason it’s called the Magic Kingdom 🙂 It was truly magic!
Family reunion in Hawaii…it was beautiful and very emotional. To see all the relatives again and getting reacquainted with them. It was long over due and a treasured memory because we have lost so many since then.
The best summer vacation I ever had was when I was 10 and my parents sent me to England to spend 2 months with my cousins. It was a nice break from the Florida heat and such a great experience to spend time with faraway family.
Our summer vacations growing up usually consisted of going to Colorado to visit family. At the time, I found it B-O-R-I-N-G. And now with my own family we have tended to vacation at other times of the year. My favorite vacation memory is taking our kids to Disney World for the first time. The look on my daughter’s face when she met Cinderella for the first time – worth every single penny.

The best summer vacation I ever had was the summer two friends and I went to Europe after college. We had so much fun experiencing the wonderful sights of Europe together. I often think back on that trip and how lucky we were to have the opportunity to travel and spend that time together.
My favorite summer vacation was the summer after my freshman year of college. My family went to the Black Hills in South Dakota for the Harley rallys they hold out there (our vacations always were to Daytona Beach or SD for that reason lol). This particular year though we found this cool touristy place called Old McDonalds farm which essentially was a huge petting zoo…I had two sisters who were 3 & 9 at that time…so it was soooo much fun. All of the animals roamed free. There were these cute mini goats that would climb on your back if you got on your hands & knees and the girls loved that. My favorite was this adorable mini potbelly pig who loved to snuggle up next to you…his name was Wizard…I will never forget though that my brother didn’t love him so much because that sweet lil piggie peed on him!!! Bahaha! 🙂
Our summer vacations have been and seem to be still with family. One of my favs though is celebrating Christmas for the first time with my family in Seattle. It was also the first time all but one of them met my oldest (then only) son and nefirst time he saw snow.
As a kid, every summer my mom and grandma would take my sisters and I and my mom’s 2 youngest sisters to the nearest city for a few days of fun. Since we didn’t get to go to the city very often otherwise, this was always a special treat and we all have lasting memories of those annual trips.
I would say when I was a sophmore or junior in highschool, we flew up to Boston from FL, then drove to Maine. It was a really great trip! I never knew I’d live in New England one day.
We had a cottage on Nantucket just a few feet from the beach, and we spent every every there. At night we would have a clambake and make smores. It was wonderful.
we took our kids a couple summers ago to Myrtle Beach when they were 7 & 5…..they got to see & touch the ocean for the 1st time! It was wonderful seeing it thru their eyes!
My best summer vacation was in 1990 when I went to San Francisco, Monterey, Carmel, and Napa Valley. It was a week of sights and sounds that I will never forget.
My favorite vacation was with my kids to Toronto Canada. We had such a good time seeing the sights and riding the double decker bus 🙂
Last year our family rented a beautiful condo ocean front in north myrtle beach. So relaxing and a great time to spend with our kids. Everyone went parasailing one day, that was quite the adventure. We love being at the beach, listening to the ocean, people watching and eating fresh peaches.
I think it would be going on or honeymoon to Hawaii. Although growing up every summer was the best because we didn’t have school
My favorite summer vacation was when we lived in Germany and 8 members of my family came to visit us shortly after my second daughter was born. We visited Paris and Rothenburg and several local sights in the Rhineland. It was awesome to show ones we loved some of our favorite places.
A few summers a go we went to Chincoteague Island. We spent the whole week riding bikes, hiking, walking on the beach and relaxing. It was so peaceful! Thanks for a chance to win!
Had to be a family vacation to Adams Lake in Canada. Stayed with friends. Picked fresh vegetables from the garden for dinner. Out in the middle of nowhere with nature. Relaxing by the lake. Definitely an R & R vacation. Lots of family time and fun!
A vacation I will never forget, and my family won’t forget either, was the week we took our “adopted” boy from Ireland to Lake Kabetomgama in Northern Mn. We loved our times there, but sharing with a young boy who had never experienced the wilds, the fishing for hours, and the black bears which we went to watch at night as they dug in the dumpsters, made that week stand out forever in our minds. (He had never experienced mosquitos,either! They about drove him nuts!)
Every year we go to the Cape and spend our time at the beach, bike riding and just relaxing. Life doesn’t get any better than that!
When our boys were 1, 2 and 3 my husband took us on a 3000 mile camping road trip. And while that may sound absolutely AWFUL on paper, we made some of the best memories of our lives. It was a balst!
My favorite vacation was when I went to South Haven, Michigan with my husband and children. We picked blueberries and raspberries in huge quantities, ate yummy ice cream at a sweet little old srore, went to the beach and hung out at our condo playing and reading with the children. Ahhhhh! Headed back there this summer. Can’t wait!
A two week tour of DC, NY and more with four kids in a large car. We saw tons of cool things, laughed, enjoyed history, and oooooooh and ahhhhh in Boston for the 4th of July.
Summer in Europe with my husband and two oldest boys – who were 2 1/2 and 10 mos at the time… hectic, but fun!
Every year becomes the best one yet. We visit our time share condo, which is located in a beautiful, lush canyon valley, for an entire week. I love taking our little family to get away from everything and spend that week having fun at children’s museums, nature walks, swimming, movie watching, eating out at our favorite restaurants…. And as the children grow older, it just becomes more and more fun each year. Thanks for the fun release week, again. 😉
my best summer vacation was 2 years ago, the whole family, especially my dad, was on an island in the North Sea. It was the last vacation with my dad, who died 7 months later. We enjoyed riding by bike, sitting in the sand, swimming and laughing. everything seems to be so easy.

The best vacation I’ve had to date was last summer. I took my Texan family to meet my extended family in northern Wisconsin and then to southern Wisconsin to meet my best friend. One never knows how much we miss people until we spend some time together. It was absolutely magical.
Every single summer vacation from my childhood was awesome! We would go camping every weekend all summer long with a big group of friends. There was nothing like the freedom of running around the whole campground free from parental control and without thoughts of bedtime!!
My family went for a road trip to Niagara Falls from Kansas. My kids first road trip…they were pre-teens…had the best time!!!

Summer vacations at Ocean City, MD are my favorite. Great food, fun at the beach and swimming at the pool with my daughter when she was young = priceless.
At first I was going to say the summer I went to Italy. But today my thoughts are filled with memories of fishing on the lake with my dad. Those are the moments I cherish the most.

Wow…it was years ago!!! I was only 17 and I flew down to florida to spend some of my summer vacation with my grandfather. I felt so grown up!
While not technically a vacation (as any new mother will attest), August 1995 was my favorite summer “vacation” spent on maternity leave with my beautiful daughter.
My parents used to take me to an all-inclusive resort in the Poconos. They had so much to do – swimming, row boating, shuffleboard, hiking, miniature golf, games, crafts, etc. There was so much to do the week was over so fast! We used to stay in cabins that made you feel like you were in the woods camping. It was so much fun! Ah…the good old days of innocence.
As a stay at home mom – I think every summer is a great vacation! It’s so fun to watch the kids grow and play and be free-spirited. It reminds me what a joy it is to be a kid. To let loose and run. To go outside even tho the wind is super gusty, or the temps are 90+. The kids don’t mind – they make summer wonderful!
As a child, traveling with my parents to almost all of the 48 continental United States…it was fun and I learned a LOT!
One summer we went camping and a friend and I got lost in the woods for several hours. We ended up about 3 miles from where we started, and had hundreds of mosquito bites. While at the time we weren’t amused, to this day I remember that vacation fondly!
I am blessed to have 2 summer vacations that I consider the best. The first was the last summer my parents, older sister and I would all go on vacation together. We traveled up on side of Michigan, up to the Mackinaw Bridge and back down the other side. Lots of fun playing in the great lakes and treasured time as a family. The second was a trip my husband and I took to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A friend had loaned us his beach house and we spent a glorious week relaxing on the beach and enjoying being with each other.
I’ve had many amazing summer vacations, so I couldn’t pick just one. Right now my top pick would be the vacation we just took to Bald Head Island, North Carolina. We went with two other families whom we adore. What a great beach vacation!
The summer of 2002 we took our kids, then 9 & 13 to Disneyland … We smiled for 7 days! It is one of my most treasured memories of time spent together…we just had so much fun!
When college students, my husband and I drove my sister’s car out to Oregon for her. We took state roads and lots of detours, seeing all sorts of incredible sights across our amazing country. It took us starving students almost a year to be able to afford getting all that film developed, but it was the beginning of a lifetime of memories with the wonderful man who has been my love for 33 years.

20 years ago, in my mid twenties, I spent a hole summer on the Isle of Wight, UNited Kingdom. I had the best summer ever and till today I am dreaming about going back to this lovely little Island with the kindest and most friendly people I ever met abroad.

My best summer vacation was a few years ago when we took our daughter to the beach for the first time!
We took our Grandsons to the Black Hills two years ago. We had been there a few times alone but seeing it though their eyes was the best ever. We still look at the videos and pictures and think what a great time we all had.
Although it isn’t the most original, Disneyworld. I got to go often as a child but when we surprised my 2 boys with the trip last year, it was vacation that will be hard to beat.
Summer vacations were always visiting family who lived a distance away from us. And now I live about 2,000 miles from most of my cousins and aunts and uncles. 2 years ago I was able to go to our cousins reunion for the first time in almost 20 years – so great to see everyone.
The year my daughter was born we went to Orlando, FL. My sister and her husband met us there and we made a lot of memories.
My best summer vacation goes way back to the summer I graduated from high school. I spent a month in Europe singing in a choir with kids from all over the USA. The sightseeing, friendships, and memories from that trip are dear to my heart.
Best summer ever, this one! All 10 grandchildren are here with us for a fam reunion. Thank God for a big old house and a pool! Looking forward to the happy memories and scraping in the fall. June release is fab!
My son and his family live in Juneau Alaska and we have been there many times. However, two summers ago, my Mom and I went up to see them and we just had a wonderful time. It was gorgeous weather and we spent a lot of time outside with my grandsons. I love Juneau!!.. Thanks for a chance to win!

My favorite summer trip was a mission trip to Virginia to help with hurricane clean up. I got to go with a good friend and work with some great people. I felt like I grew up a lot that summer.
Bestsummer vacation for me was when my husband came home from Desert Storm and we took our kids to Disney World. They had the best time staying in one of the resorts and we were so glad their dad was finally home.
Easy!! In 2010 my husband and I went to Paris and Rome for 10 days. We left the kids with the grandparents and had celebrated our 12th Anniversary enjoying sights and falling in love all over again.
Oh, and the year I met everyone from Papertrey Ink at the CHA supershow was a very close second!!!
The best and most memorable summer vacation was the year we took our sons to the ocean for the first time. We all spent a glorious week at Ocean Isle with my sister, brother-in-law, and nephews. The cousins are extremely close and had a blast hanging out all day and night. Such wonderful memories!
Four years ago, at the age of 53, I finally got to drive up the coast of California and visit Hearst Castle. I had dreamed of doing that since I was 12, when a friend went and brought back photos to show me. I was living in Illinois then and never thought I’d ever get to do it. When we moved to AZ, the dream got a little closer.
Had a great vacation in a rental cottage on an inland lake in Michigan with my family and my sister’s family. Fun, food, sun and water. Good memories! What could be better?

I was 9 and my family went to Stuart Island in BC. No electricity or cars there then – we arrived by boat. We ate huckleberries we picked, fresh caught salmon and homemade bread baked on a wood stove. We hiked, had picnics, explored and enjoyed each other.
Our family reunions at the beach … they are the best… spending time with our family . we would go canoeing.. so much fun !!!

I think one of my best summer vacations was an impulsive trip to Greece in May 2000. My husband and I bought a cheap trip and ended up at the Greek island Naxos. We also managed to stay two days in Athens and generally just had a really wonderful week at a time when we needed a break.

My best summer vacations were spent on my grandmother’s farm–I just loved the peace and quiet and the animals.
When I was a child, in the mid 1970s, for several summeres my parents took us “family camping” — the local YMHA has a children’s camp in Pennsylvania that they would open to families for a week after the campers went home. Each family got a bunk, and there were counselors for children’s activities, lifeguards at the lake, the arts&crafts house was open, there were evening activities for everyone to enjoy. My father taught me and my brother how to row a boat, how to fish (and put the worm on the hook), and he even dissected a worm to show us what was inside. My mom taught me how to do rug-hooking, which was big in the 1970s. It was a week without distractions, just being together — or apart for a while in a safe environment. That’s when I learned to love and appreciate Nature. Now that my parents are gone, I look back at those photos as if we were in Paradise.
My sister and I went to Los Angeles a couple of years ago. Had the time of our lives. Hit the ground running and never stopped the whole time we were there.
The best summer vacation I’ve ever had was the trip my husband and I took to Italy…it was amazing and an experience of a lifetime. It inspired us to start our family and now we are looking forward to taking our two little ones to Italy when they are older!
My favorite summer vacation was the trip to the Canadian Rockies with our 4 sons. This was the last family vacation we took together before they were married, or off to college or the military. It was a memorable trip back to my husband’s birth place. Many happy memories were shared that summer.
My best would have to be going to the beach in ‘Jersey every year when I was young through probably my early 50’s. My Aunt and Uncle had a house that they rented out all summer and the family would descend on it in the month of Septemer to get it “winterized” – of course that was between enjoying the beach, the bay, the ice cream and the LARGE group of family members there at any one time that month. After they sold the house, my parents rented another place for years and we continued the tradition until they could not do the drive by themselves. The ocean, and specifically Stone Harbor, NJ, is still my favorite vacation destination!

A few years ago we went on a family vacation to Virginia Beach. We rented a house right on the beach, the weather was perfect and it was a fantastic time for all! We also hired a photographer to take pictures on the beach. What great memories!
All those summer vacation memories to choose from! When I was little, we had wonderful days at the lake in SW Michigan with my parents and grandparents. Out with my dad every day in the rowboat, fishing for bluegills with a cane pole and (ewww) worms.
The first year that I retired, we spent 2 weeks touring Ireland. It was a long wish of mine to go there and it was wonderful. We saw so much and visited so many different places. When I got home I spent many long days scrap booking all of our pictures and memorabilia. Great times!!
The best summer vacation I ever had was one to see my mom in Texas while she was still alive. All we did was help her with the house and lie around reading, but it was such a relaxing good time spent with family.

Spending time on a friends boat exploring Glacier National Park. We caught and ate fresh fish, shrimp and crabs all week! The scenery was breathtaking, and it truly was the trip of a lifetime.
Best memory of vacation is being a kid and spending a week in a little cottage in the Thousand Islands with my family. My dad and I would go fishing in his little boat, those were the days.

Although it sounds like a nightmare (and it probably was to my parents), my best summer vacation was the summer between my 5th and 6th grade years (probably around 1991 or 1992) when my family drove from Eastern Montana to Northern California. There were 4 of us stuck in a 1980 Ford Escort for 10 days. The tape deck was broken, so we were stuck listening to the “Top Gun” soundtrack the entire trip! My brother and I fought in the backseat almost the entire way (after he left my crayons out to melt on the already questionable interior AND kicked me and gave me a bloody nose, which ruined my favorite T-shirt.) It was during the time that neon was cool (or so my mom thought) and we all had matching neon jackets. At Fisherman’s Wharf, I remember hearing people mock the “neon family”, but at the time, I thought we were awesome. We almost got stuck going down Lombard Street and had the worst Chicken Nuggets of my life at a sketchy McDonald’s in China Town. Even with all of that, it was an amazing trip. It was my first time in California and I loved it. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the ocean for the first time and to this day, there’s no place I’d rather vacation than the California coast.
My best summer vacation was two years ago with my girls… we went up north to PA and NY visiting all the scrapbook places that were near on on Route 95. We even included several scrapbook conventions, we came home broke, but some great values. Fun, Fun, Fun!
Definitely a road trip to Northern Minnesota from Madison, WI with my Mom, Grandma and 5 siblings all packed into a ford falcon station wagon and camping in a 6 man tent! So many fond memories of how close we were as a family back then and how we truly weathered every situation you can imagine a trip like that would bring.

Two weeks spent driving around France in late summer. No itinerary, no advance hotel reservations, just exploring country roads and staying at small auberges. Fantastic weather, total serendipity!
Best vacation. That’s hard. I’m gonna say when the hubby and I went to Sweden pre-kids in 2003. First time to Europe, and we had a blast. BUT, I fully expect that vacation to be eclipsed by the one we’re leaving on next weekend…..post-kids, but without kids to Hungary and Romania. SO excited. and I have SO much to do before then!

Every summer my brother And I would spend 2-3 weeks with my grandparents in Canada. We had so much fun and grew very close to them. Family is the best vacation. My son now goes with his grandparents for a week every summer. Love tradition.

The best summer vacation I have ever had was 4 years ago. We were moving from Seattle, WA to Pittsburgh, PA. My husband was already in PA, so the kids and I drove down to CA and spent a few weeks at my parents house. Then my mom made the cross country drive with us to our new house. We stopped at the Grand Canyon, the Oklahoma City Memorial, and several other scenic stops along the way. It is a trip we will remember forever!!

I JUST HAD THE BEST SUMMER BREAK I HAD THIS PAST WEEK WHEN I VOLUNTEERED IN A MEDICAL MISSION TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. THE PEOPLE WERE SO NICE AND SO ACCOMMODATING. THEIR LEVEL OF MEDICAL NEED HUMBLED ME…SO BASIC YET SO UNSELFISH…I DID AND DO REALIZE HOW FORTUNATE WE ARE THAT WE ARE LIVING HERE IN AMERICA WITH LOTS OF AMENITIES THAT WE TAKE FOR GRANTED…
I loved our summer vacation at a family camp in the Ozarks in Arkansas. It was so secluded with no television nor cell phone reception. Our only entertainment was horseback riding, hiking, rafting, etc… Heaven!
The best summer vacation was going to Martha’s Vineyard. Our family had so much fun there.
My favorite vacation memory is of one at the Jersey shore. My family rented a huge house, and we beached and biked and walked the boardwalk. Such a good memory.

By far without a doubt would be last year. We told our 2 little girls we were going on vacation to Albuquerque NM and drove forever to get to CA. When they woke up in the morning we went to the Ihop across the street and then when we walked out, we asked them if they knew where we were. They saw the parks and were so excited, it was definitely the best summer ever, we all had a blast for a week! We are planning our next visit for December to see Disneyland during christmas. Summer vacations were a rarity around here, as a child we left the day school was out to spend the summer at a campground where we had a permanent 42′ camper ,we came home the day before would start back. As an adult, our boys played baseball and DH was a baseball coach, so the summers were spent at the ball field . I do remember when our boys were young going to Tennesee for a family reunion, which was wonderful to see family that I rarely get to see.
Growing up on the California coast summers were always the best! Long days of sun, sand, beaches and evening bonfires. But as an adult, the best summer vacation I’ve had was going to New Mexico, and touring all around Albuquerque, Taos …and of course Santa Fe during Indian Market. What a spectacular state!
We went to Disney for the first time last summer. It was the first time that all four of us went somewhere by ourselves. It was awesome!!! We had so much fun, and I loved all the wonder & excitement in the kids’ eyes! I really want to go back! It was so nice to just be our family hanging out with no work responsibilities!

I had a wonderful childhood spent with cousins and grandparents that lived in the same town. In addition to that, we vacationed quite often with extended cousins and some of my best memories are of them and our family trips to Colorado in the summer. It was nice to escape the Texas heat for awhile.
A friend was gettng married in RaleighDurham, so 2 GF’s and I took a road trip to surprise him by coming to the wedding! It was so much fun to see his face when he realize that 3 friends were there. He was expecting only family! We went on to Charleston, SC, the Outer Banks and Willimasburg. What a fun trip!

My husband and I drove cross country from Seattle to Atlanta to visit our daughter and her husband. We had all kinds of weather adventures, lots of geography and history to explore and of course a wonderful time with our daughter!
Every year my family camps together with my parents, aunt and uncle, my cousins and their kids and sometimes my brother and his kids. It is so much fun and we look forward to it every year. Now, after this year though… my answer may be CHA! as I am going this summer!
some of my best summer vacations were spent in british columbia, canada. but my most memorable summer vacation was the one we took to colorado when i was 12. my mom and dad decided to let my older siblings drive in a second car while my younger sister and i drove with my parents. as we were driving through utah, my older brother thought it would be funny to speed past my dad and disappear down the road. i don’t think i had ever seen my dad so mad at them, but boy was it was hilarious!! just thinking about it still makes me smile!
Best summer vacation is a toss up between Las Vegas when my son turned 21 or when I took my son to Orlando to a Star Wars convention. It was such a joy to see him having a great time at both places!
About 10 years ago, I was having a really bad year. That summer I decided to treat myself to a week at a spa. It was hands down the best thing I have ever done for myself and the most relaxing week of my life.
Last year hubby and I went to Europe for the first time. We spent a couple of days in Barcelona before taking a cruise ship to several ports of call in France and Italy. Little did we know then but it would be our last summer vacation just the two of us 🙂
The best summer vacation I ever had is when we rented a large house and our whole family – children, grandchildren, parents and grandparents got to spend time in Maine. We all had a blast, since most of us are from Texas, Maine was absolutely a vacation to remember.
The best summer vacation? Wow! That is a hard one for me… I’d say a week we spent celebrating our son’s 5th birthday at Disney World where we did so many things and the staff just made it extra magical for him. It was beautiful. And also a Cruise we took to the Bahamas with my boy and 6 month old daughter where we had a wonderful time, swam with the dolphins, ate amazing food (especially at Oh Andro’s), etc… It was so awesome that we missed our ship and had to come back by airplane…it was more like a bird really, ha!

The best summer is when we went on our very vacation to Disneyland and Sea World in San Diego. I was 10 and it was also the first time we ever slept in a hotel! I’ll never forget that summer!
The best summer I had was spent in Japan for working holiday, it’s a very great experience, made lots of friends and visited wonderful places !
My best summer vacation was when I was in grade school. We spent time with my grandparents at their mountain cabin. Days were filled with swimming in the river and nights were about counting stars.
We went car camping with my dad through all of Michigan and then up and over Lake Superior. It was great.
As a teenager I went with my family to a beautiful resort in North Carolina that had this gorgeous old inn on the grounds where we had lunch,strolled through beautiful flower gardens and took paddle boats out on the most beautiful lake with the clearest waters and mountains right at the edge of it.
My best summer vacation was when we took our two sons camping up in Door County, WI (they were about 6 and 4 years old at the time). Everything was just new and exciting to them.

My best summer vacation gets repeated every two years ala “Groundhog Day” movie. It’s a wonderful week with my siblings, my parents and all the grandkids at the lake swimming, boating, eating and just enjoying each other. As we all age, I cherish these moments as much as possible.

My husband and I took the “EmpireBuilder” train trip from Chicago to Glacier National Park and then on to see our son and daughter-in-law in Oregon. He surprised me with a tea-time experience at Prince Edward’s Lodge on the Canadian side on the day of our trip that was our 30th anniversary!
My best vacation ever was our cruise to the Mediterranean, a total splurge but so worth it!
I think my best summer vacation was going to the Oregon coast with my own children as well as my extended family. It was so much fun to be on vacation with your whole family!
For the summer of 2011 our family rented a 5 bedroom house on the ‘beach block’ of Ocean City New Jersey. We had my husband, 22 year old daughter, 17 year old son, his girlfriend, my sister, brother in law and 10 year old niece plus my father and my stepmother. The weather was fabulous and we really enjoyed a relaxing beach week together. My brother-in-law is a great cook and offered to cook for us every night. Trust me, no-one talked him out of it. I went to yoga everyday (on the beach) rode bikes, walked, shopped, read, ate soft serve ice-cream and fresh made donuts from Browns. I sat on the beach for hours under an umbrella. It was divine! I hope we can do it again sometime.
Best summer vacation was the two weeks spent in Nags Head with my whole family..
The only summer vacation as a family when I was a little girl was one of the best! We drove to Carlsbad Caverns, then up to Colorado, and back home to Texas. We didn’t miss a historical marker, and Daddy froze us with the air conditioner…good times!! Daddy died of cancer a few years later. Thanks for the chance to win!

The best vacation I’ve had so far is a trip with my husband to Ireland last summer. We had an amazing time and beautiful weather. We saw many sites and ended each night at a local pub with fish, chips, local brews, and singing. I learned the words to some of the favs by the end of the trip. It is such a gorgeous country with wonderful people.

After graduation from business school, I spent the entire summer traveling around Asia and Australia with a couple of classmates. We covered 6 countries, met lots of locals and fellow travelers, and had the time of our lives.

ireland in 1988 for my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary. they had 9 kids, 25 or so grandkids, and nearly everyone was there.
I loved the summers when I used to go on sailing camp in my early teens! Being away from home, without my parents, meeting lots of other kids while learning to sail was wonderful!

Growing up, we were poor and never had money to go on vacations. One summer, my parents had saved some money and we went to Yellowstone Park. We saw so many animals we had never seen, old faithful was amazing to us and each of us three kids were given money to buy a souvenir…something we wanted to start to collect. I picked a spoon…..I now have a huge collection of spoons from places I have been. It is so fun to look at them and remember the good times I have had at so many places. My parents sacrificed so we could have this special time together and it means more to me than any other vacation I have had since.

My best summer vacation was a couple of years ago my husband, two children and I spent a week in Yosemite National Park. We had a lovely cabin we stayed in and each day was filled with hiking and enjoying all of the gorgeous scenery around us.
My friends family bought a huge Winnebago and were planning a cross Canada trip that would take six weeks. My friend wouldn’t go unless she could take someone. I was so honored that she chose me. That was an amazing and memorable trip going from Alberta all the way to Newfoundland. We saw all the provinces except B. C. I still can’t believe t he generosity of my friends parents in taking me along.
The best vacation I ever had was when I went to New Hampshire about six months after my parents moved there. Spent two weeks traveling all over New England with my parents, my sister and nephew (brother-in-law and my husband had to stay home and work). Loved it!! Especially all the American history – since I’m a history buff. 🙂

We’ve taken a couple roadtrips up and down the Pacific coast and those were great to get out of the heat of Phoenix and to do things we couldn’t do at home (e.g., U-pick farms with berries)!
hmmm, that’s a hard one as I’m a teacher and enjoy them all for different reasons. So I’ll go with the easy answer…july 2007, my honeymoon 🙂 Went to Victoria, BC, and then up north to go salmon fishing 🙂 It was more the feeling of being a newlywed that made it so special 🙂

This last fall, hubby and I went to NYC. Love that place! The weather was PERFECT, we walked down to Times Square after dark, had dessert every night at 10, and ate breakfast in Central Park!
The summer before my daughter left for college we traveled out west for several weeks and stopped to visit relatives and friends along the way.

Hmmmmm. . .I think it would have to be the first time I went to Europe. It was the summer between my junior and senior years in high school, and I went with a group of students from a high school about 3 hours from my home. We spent 6 weeks traveling and studying French with students from all over the world. My life was forever changed from that experience. And the fact that I saved every penny to pay for the trip by babysitting (at 50 cents per hour!) made it all the more fulfilling.
We went to Montana in the mountains vacationing as a family for about ten years in a row for two or three weeks in August. I loved the peace and tranquility in the little town we would go to called Cooke City, Montana. I have wonderful memories of it!
It had to be the summer I got to go to Florida and spend a week RIGHT ON the beach!! Our room was in Clearwater….you could lie in bed and listen to the ocean roar and then get up, walk out the door with your coffee and sit on the beach and feel the ocean breeze, smell the wonderful smell of ocean, while the seagulls hovered overhead……ahhhhhh!
My best summer was the year I graduated from grad school, probably because it was the beginning of August and I felt a huge load off my shoulders and was able to enjoy it like a normal person.
One of my best friends in junior high rented a beach house one summer and took me along for 2 weeks, what with the sun, the sand and the gaggle of neighborhood boys, life was at its best!

Best summer vacation would have to be the year we went camping for 3 weeks to LaConner Washington. Nothing fancy by any means but it was just a fun relaxing time. My daughters were 9 and 16 at the time, and still wanted to travel with us, lol.
Now my idea of camping was our trailer, latte machine, tv and satelite dish so not really roughing it but still alot of fun.

For many summers, me and my friends rented a house out in the hamptons on long island. It was a vacation every weekend with lots of funny moments and great memories – meeting my husband there being the best.
I would have to say it was the summer when my honey and I got married. We traveled from southern Cali to Lake Tahoe…and on the drive back, we drove the Cali Coastline, stopping in a different place each night. It was fantastic!
I have 5 siblings. When the oldest 3 were young my parents would take them along with grandparents and their siblings (aunts and uncles) fishing on Rangeley Lake in Maine. About 10 years ago we planned a family trip (5 of the 6 of us and our families) along with Mom stayed at the same cottage colony my parents and grandparents did over 50 years ago. It was wonderful for my Mom to reminisce and share the times they had. It was especially sentimental to all of us as she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few short years later.
My best summer vacation was when I spent a long weekend in Rehobeth Beach, DE with my girlfriends. Great weather, great seafood, great friends…great time!!!

The best summer was when I was 15 and my parents rented a camper and we drove from Illinois to San Francisco and back. It was 3 weeks and so many fun memories. We actually at breakfast, lunch and dinner in 3 different states. Never realized my Mom was afraid of heights until we ended up in a campground 10M feet above sea level.
The best summer vacation was when we went to Bogata Colombia with my daughter and her husband. He has family there and it was just beautiful! They took us to this beautiful place on top of this mountain where there is a Church and it was just breath takingly gorgeous! And was also wonderful to meet his family and see where he grew up. It was very special.
My best summer vacations are spent anywhere with my family! But in particular, I really enjoyed our stay at Horseshoe Bay In Marble Falls, Texas a few summers ago.

So far, our my best was hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. BUT, that was before our son was born and this summer we are going to Disneyland! Peru was cool, but I can’t wait to see my little guy’s face when we hit the park. Thanks for a wonderful release!
The Summer after my freshman year of college, one of my roommates and my boyfriend followed around a certain band and went to every concert we could across several states. I worked my butt off, with no days off waitressing from mis May through the end of June and took the rest of the Summer off – it was great to be able to do whatever I wanted 🙂

I just got back from Orlando where I enjoyed Disney World with my son and six year old grandson. There is nothing like sharing Disney with a child seeing it for the first time. It had been over 30 years since I had seen it through my boys eyes on their first visit.
My best summer vacation was last summer, we spent 4 days in Banff, Alberta, Canada. The mountains are just stunning and the people are so wonderful there.
My best summer vacation was traveling to the Philippines with my husband. We stayed on Palawan Island at the El Nido resort and it was truly heaven on earth. The clear blue waters, wonderful people, breath taking scenery and the best travel companion made it the trip of a life time.
Two summers ago, I took my children on a 2 1/2 day train journey from Texas to Connecticut, to spend a precious week with their grandfather. It was a trip of a lifetime for them, filled with laughter, joy, and beautiful memories!
The very best summer vacation I ever had was the week I spent at Lake Michigan with my grandparents when I was eight. It was the summer after my parents divorced and it was a very bright spot in an otherwise very sad season of life for me. Up to the point, I had never been anywhere by myself, much less for an entire week. My grandparents were older, retired and fairly set in their ways so I’m sure I rocked their world a bit but I felt like a princess that week. Every kid needs some great grandparents! I took my favorite summer vacation in July of 1995 when my husband and I went to Williamsburg, VA. It was our first summer vacation working our first jobs out of school. It was relaxing, fun, and we truly felt like we had earned it!

My best summer vacation was a trip we made to Disneyland by car with our gently used tent trailer. We had both thrills and spills but overall, it is my best summer trip memory!
We have been blessed to be able to travel over the years so it is hard to pick just one because we have visited so many wonderful places. But I think my all time favorite summer vacation was when my husband and I traveled to Shanghai, China, to spend 10 days traveling with our daughter and son-in-law who live and teach there. We were able to see a lot of the things that you only read about, but never dream you will see. The best thing about the whole trip, besides traveling with our daughter and her husband was the fact that all I had to do was get us to Shanghai. Our daughter planned all the rest of it. It was a wonderful experience seeing Shanghai, Beijing, the Great Wall, the terracotta warriors, and the river cruise on the Yangtze, just to name the highlights.
My best memories are of a trip to Hawaii that my husband and I took in 1984. It was just the best. We met some people at the airport when we landed and we did a lot together which only made it more fun. The weather was perfect and we had no problems. Rare! My husbands health prevents us from traveling now so memories are sweet!
Hands down, our Disney cruise last year. It was for our 20th wedding anniversary, and we took the kids. It was amazing!
We go “up north” (northern Wisconsin) for a week getaway – always relaxing & fun.
The best summer vacation I ever had was a staycation in our home state of Arizona. We visited Sedona, Flagstaff and went to the Grand Canyon, it was by far the most relaxing trip and definitely less stress than flying out of town. Great memories!
My husband and I took our two young boys on a road trip through the Grand Canyon and ended up at a dude ranch in Tucson. They rode horses, mountain bikes, swam and just were little boys. It was so much fun and we still talk about it often.

My first actual summer vacation was the year I got married, Summer 2008. We’re from Chicago and we took a road trip to CO Springs (it was just me, our DS, & hubby-to-be) to get married. We then traveled to SD – stopped by Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, & the Badlands. Then we traveled through MN to visit family before finally heading back home. It was the best summer vacay-wedding-honeymoon all in one!
The best summer vacation I had was in 2010. I spent 3 wks at my sister home. We just talked, drank and hung out together. I was wonderfully fun. She and her hubby spoiled me. 3 weeks and I only cooked twice, heaven.
This is probably cheating a bit…but our vacations are usually in the fall. So, my favorite vacation was an 18 day trip to Italy. We did so much in that time, Rome, Florence, Venice, the Cinque Terra, Lake Como..and more. There were six of us and we had just the best time. Hopefully we will go back again.
Our best summer vacation was in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia. We had a sweet little cabin, oh, I wanted to stay forever!
Whenever I think of summer vacation, I recall family campouts. The real kind of camping: tents, coolers, tarps and campstoves. Those were the glorious days!

The best holiday I had was the first time we visited the US for our Silver Wedding anniversary. We visited New England and stayed in some wonderful Bed and Breakfast Inns. I saw whales for the first time, ate lots of the food I’d only read about and made lots of lovely memories.
Every summer in July, we would spend a week at a cabin on Leech Lake with our two young daughters. Several of my siblings would also go with their familes, and the cousins still talk of their great summer memories spent at the cabin at “Bayview”. It was such a peaceful time spending quality time with those we loved to be with. Sometimes I wish I could go back and relive those wonderful summer weeks.
My favorite summer vacation I ever had was last summer when my family spent two weeks in New Zealand.

My husband had a couple rough years healthwise. Last summer we were finally able to take our first vacation in 3 years. We (husband & 2 kiddos) spent 12 glorious days on Kauai. It’s an understatement to say this vacation was much-needed. We truly enjoyed each moment & treasured the time we spent together. This vacation was exactly what we all needed.
The best summer we had was the year we moved to live by the sea. Our children were young and still at home. The weather was glorious and we felt like the holiday continued long after we were back at work and school….Ah happy memories!
The best vacation for me is defined by wholesome relaxation, great connection with friends and loved ones, gorgeous surroundings and spectacular food. All these components were aligned ever so lovely on our vacation trip to Florida a couple of years ago. It was just my daughter, husband and me which made it so close and personal. We gazed at stars together, enjoyed our favorite food and visited over 8 attractions in a period of 1 week (lots of these were nature walk oriented which aided the relaxation aspect). When we are feeling blue this is definitely our go to “happy memeroy”. The best of it all is that we are planning on doing a repeat this year 🙂
The best summer vacation we had was two years ago when our family drove down to Chicago. There were so many fun things to do and our boys were 7 & 2 at the time and had an absolute blast! We’re going again this summer and I hope we have another wonderful time!
The best summer vacation would have to be when I was in 8th grade. The whole summer was spent with friends going to the pool everyday, and experiencing my first summer love!
Best Summer Vacation — my Aunt and Uncle were house/dog sitting for family friends who lived on a lake. I spent the entire week with them, learned to swim (my poor uncle’s balding head was scorched, he spent so much time in the water with me), read with my favorite Auntie and played with Lad, the frog hunting Collie. Grandparents usually came for picnic supper. I think I was maybe 10. Thanks for helping me remember that great time!
Summer is my busiest time of year at work, so I really think my best vacation was my pre-summer trip to Africa earlier this year, such a treat to explore new places with my husband (and no kids).
The best summer vacation I ever had happened over Labor Day weekend and week! I took a Backroads bicycle tour through Napa/Sonoma/Russian River Valley. NOTHING like biking in the sunshine; stopping and tasting wine; meeting new, interesting, amazing people; and eating GREAT meals….and not gaining an ounce! PERFECT week!

The fondest summer vacation memories are those spend on Lake Osakis in northern Minnesota. Just me, my brothers & sisters and my parents for two magical weeks every summer. Priceless.
Last summer, my hubby and our two boys took a road trip to Florida (from MO) with my parents. We were a little nervous about having 6 of us in a vehicle for that long. But it worked out fine. We had a fabulous time. We visited Graceland, the town in GA where they filmed the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. Not to mention seeing beautiful Siesta Key Beach and parasailing. With my Mom’s recent cancer diagnosis, I am so thankful we were able to take that trip together.
Best summer vacation ever was spending the time in the Great Smokey Mountains. It is without a doubt the best place ever! In fact, usually every vacation has been spent in the mountains. To me it truly is God’s country. Now with all our animal rescues we don’t really go on vacation. We spend the money and time on them. Which is wonderful in itself 🙂
My favorite summer vacations were the ones where I got to go to summer camp with my friends. We had the best memories staying up late, swimming in lake and running around all day. I loved every minute of it.
My favorite summer vacation was also my honeymoon in 2006. We went to Canada and camped and saw 5 different cities in a week and a half. It was the perfect start to our marriage 🙂
The best summer vacation I ever had was summer of 1994 when I was leaving abroad at Sonoma, California with a USA family and with my USA sister JoAnn(which is my lovely sister)and my best friend Nomar from Honduras we took a trip to Disneyland, San Francisco, Sacramento and walked along the Golden Gate Bridge. Those were good and happy times – of course! I was 19!! It was so bonding time and had so much fun… I still remember all the details of the trip… No one wanted to leave. Best time ever!!!!!
My best summer vacation is simply enjoying the summer with my kids, going to the beach, the pool…and having no worries about school in mind.
The summer of 1999 my step-mother invited everyone to visit she and my Dad at their home in Custer, SD. This was a surprise for my Dad and was he ever! We rented cabins on the edge of town and the kids went crazy hiking, walking across small streams (and falling in). The kids got acquainted with cousins they had never met. I visited with relatives I had not seen in years. We all immersed ourselves in the surrounding sites: Mt. Rushmore, caves, wildlife (buffalo). It was so fun and we have memories to cherish forever.
My best summer vacation was back in the 70s when all the neighborhood kids would come over and rollerskate on our blacktopped driveway..Mom would make lemonade or Kool-ade for us and we listened to KC and the SUNSHINE Band and others on the radio.
The best summer vacation was when I went back to Wisconsin and spent the summer with my cousins that I had never met. We became fast friends and I had so much fun! When we returned home I missed them so much I called to talk to them….not knowing as a kid it was long distnce lol!! Boy, did I get in grounded from the phone lol!!
There wasn’t just one best vacation…it was all of the summer vacations when my kids were little. They were so happy, they got to swim all day and there was no stressing over homework or “having” to be somewhere every day. Summer was also a time when everyone was healthy and “sniffles-free” all at once. I really miss those days and think of they often!
Best Summer vacation was our family drove down to Florida and had a beachfront suite on a private beach. We were younger then, so carefree and kid-less, lol!
Because my kids have been in year round school, we have traveled during there breaks. So most of our vacations were in November or March. But last year we got to go camping in July in Yellowstone. We got to hike, see different geysers and we even saw 4 bears. Fun times!
July 2007 – our nephew (we hadn’t seen for 20 yrs) came out to give my husband a kidney – it was an amazing reunion!
Without a doubt, traveling to Charleston, SC, and staying at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island last year. Amazing!
My best summer vacation without a doubt is when I was a kid I got to spend the entire summer camping and gold dredging with my older sister and brother-in-law in various towns in the foothills of northern Calif. We had to hike into town to get the mail once a week, addressed to General Mail! It was absolute heaven; all day on the river and a dinner by the campfire–didn’t even have an outhouse! THAT’S camping!
Best summer vacation ever was for two years, the last year our eldest son spend his vacation with us. We went to france and did lots of fun stuff, had a really great time with the whole family.
It’s going to be this year! We’re all going to Hungary, but travelling by train all the way from Scotland. We’ll be stopping in Brussels and Munich on the way there and Prague on the way back!
The summer before my husband went back to school we both quit our jobs and had fun. We spent three weeks at Lake Powell, took a road trip to see the southwest and then drove across the country. It was the most carefree I have ever been.
Definitely the best vacation I’ve ever had was the summer after I graduated from high school… my high school bff’s parents took her to Mexico and invited me to come along. It was the first time I’d ever ridden a plane before, so that was exciting. They had a timeshare at a fancy resort with all kinds of amenities, including a spa and 7 themed restaurants in the hotel… all-inclusive *everything*. I was a skinny mini back then, and I got the best tan ever. That was an awesome week.
The best vacation I can remember is one that I took a few years ago with my mom & niece Alexis. We went to Discovery Cove in Florida where we spent the day & got to swim with the dolphins which is something that I had always wanted to do. It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. The next day we went to Sea World which was also fun. Now my 5 yr old nephew wants to go so we are going to plan a trip to take him & I can’t wait to do it all over again. I absolutely LOVE dolphins so this was a dream come true.
The best summer I have ever had was going to Gold Coast, Australia with my friends.
One summer, when I was a child, we traveled by car from our home in North Carolina to my maternal grandmother’s farm in the mountains of Alabama. After a week of playing with my cousins and enjoying time with family, we drove to visit my paternal grandfather in Miami, Florida. From laid back farm life to beaches, parks and restaurants, we had a blast!
I just went on a super fun 2 day vacation with some of my best friends! BUT the vacation that I am looking forward to the most is my honeymoon in August!!
My favorite summer vacation was to visit my Grandmother. My sister and her husband were able to go with my Dad and me. My sister had just graduated from the first 4 yrs of college and had not been to Grandma’s since she was a baby. Since she had no memory of this, it was like the first time for her. It was a lot of fun taking my Sis around and showing her our family history. We have since lost my Grandmother, so this will always be a special time for us.
The best summer vacation I’ve ever had would definitely have to be roadtripping across the western united states with my parents and brother: across North Dakota, Montana/Wyopming (yellowstone, Devil’s tower), stopping in seattle to visit friends/relatives, then heading down the coast to California, and coming back through Colorado/South Dakota. Amazing!
My best summer vacation was last summer when I went to visit my brother in Amsterdam.
My best summer was when my family would go camping every summer to Western Reserve campground. It was my first really camping experience and every time we went, there was always so sort of weather disaster that we ended up calling each of our campsite a name, kind of like how they name hurricanes in the south. We always had loads of fun and made some great memories in the process!
Our best summer vacation was spending a week in North Carolina at the Outer Banks a few years ago!! It was so fun and relaxing!
This will date me, but the best summer vacations were when our children were small in the 60’s & 70’s & we took a 2 week vacation every summer. We lived in the midwest & they were usually to Florida & the beach … Daytona & Fort Lauderdale most of the time. Then DisneyWorld opened & we were there the 1st year (& many times since then). The kids would play monorail each night with the sliding closet doors in out hotel room. It was a great, carefree time!
I would have to say that staying at our cabin, out in the country. It’s so quiet at relaxing. Plus I bring all kinds of stuff to make cards:)
I was raised by a single parent so we didn’t have many vacations. I did spend my summers with my grandparents so there was much excitement and anticipation in getting to spend those long lazy summer days with them. Reading Black Beauty in the lawn swing, running thru the sprinklers and the many picinics with teddy bears and my mother’s old dolls are what I remember most. Lovely days!
Years ago my late husband and I spent a week on a Dude Ranch in Montana. No phone, no TV, no radio or newspaper. Just the two of us, the ranglers, the Montana mountains, horses and eating breakfast in the wide open spaces. This was bliss!
Best summer vacation was Boundary Waters Canoe Area! We were out there for 4 beatiful peaceful days. Saw only one other camping party paddle by. Always talked about going back, but we never did make it. Now we’d never be able to carry the packs, or portage the canoes.
The best vacation I ever had hasn’t happened yet — it is coming up next month: a cruise of the Black Sea! The trip of a lifetime!
As I get older I look back to when my son was little and the vacations shared with him. We would spend a week every summer camping in the little town of Trinidad in Northern CA. Rain or shine, we camped and loved every moment. I can still see the look on my 4 year old’s face as he stood on the beach and watched a whale in the wave’s with her baby. The memories are so vivid.
I grew up in Hungary and the best summer vacation I had with my family and friends was going to the Adriatic Sea and we camped on the beach for a week. I remember getting up in the morning and the beach was right there. I had to most fun in a Paradise like place.
My best summer vacation ever was the trip to Ireland, home of my ancestors. We went with the Glee Club from the all boys high school. They sang in some beautiful cathedrals and outdoor venues. It was so fulfilling on so many levels.
The best Summer vacation was with my husband, the first non kid vacation to mexico. We had to deal with a hurricane half way through the trip, and helped clean up afterwards, but it was still a wonderful time.
The summer I spent time with my grandparents just after graduating from high school. They are both gone now, and the memories we made that summer are some of my very favorites.
We took a Disney Cruise to the Caribbean as a family when my daughter was 7 – and to this day she still talks about it being the most fun she ever had!
Road trip as a kid. My dad rented an RV and we drove from California to Yellowstone with my visiting grandparents. I have vivid memories of this trip even though I was only 6.
My best summer vacations were the ones spent at summer camp in Vermont. I met amazing people every summer and still have many friends from those wonderful days.
The best summer vacation I ever had was when my mom, my grandmother, my sisters and I took a *girl’s only!* road trip through several states and national parks! Such great bonding time for us — and memories I’ll treasure forever!!
The best “summer” vacation was 20 years ago when we went camping with my brother’s family in the U.P. of MI. We did lots of hiking, eating smoked fish, sight-seeing, staying up late to see the racoons invade camp, played on the beach of Lake Superior, kid-napped my nieces for a day to visit the falls and the Soo Locks … wonderful memories.
My forever, best summer vacations were all of the childhood summers I spent with my Grandparents. Learning, growing, living, singing, running, playing, swimming, Bozo, making Jello w/G’pa every Fri., dancing to music on Lawrence Welk w/G’ma, G’pa’s pigeons, Mike the Collie, my yellow and red sandbox, my purple bike, the ringing bells on the ice cream truck, G’pa taking me to the zoo, community picnics … endless memories of wonderful, blessed days full of happiness and love. 🙂
