Snapdragons. My grandmother, who I did not know as she died before I was born, loved snapdragons. My mom told me many times that my grandmother could grow anything. I believe I inherited my green thumb from her. When I see snaps they remind me of her even though I didn’t know her physically I still keep her in my heart.

My favorite flower is a toss up between pansies, and morning glories. The pansy because of it’s significance in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It is the juice of the pansy that makes everyone fall in love with the first person they see when they wake up, and this is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. The morning glory is my favorite because every year when I am in Stratford for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, they have morning glories planted and in full bloom around the Festival and the Studio theatre.

There were a whole line of them planted along the long driveway to our home, and I can remember coming home from the bus stop and smelling them all the way along. Also, they always bloom around Mother’s Day, and so I associate them with my Mom and her Mom. To this day, she still puts lilacs on her family’s graves on Mother’s Day. We have only 1 lilac at our home, but it increases every year, and I have a jug of them sitting here on my desk as I write.

This is a really hard question because as an avid gardener, there are so many flowers to love. However, since I need to choose one, it would be the peony. After the long winters here in the North, peonies are a sign of the truly warm weather. Just thinking of them, I can smell the fresh and warm morning air that accompanies them. It’s a shame the Southern gardeners really can’t grow these beauties. The flowers are huge, trouble-free and pest-free (aside from the ants that love the nectar.) Can’t wait for mine to bloom….I have buds now, still a little chilly here!

oh, too many to pick from!!!
as a teen, i would have said orange tiger lilies, because i kept trying to paint them, and they were elusive to me.
early 20’s, i would have said tulips, first thing i planted at my first house.
mid 20’s, gerbera daisy, they are such happy flowers, they make me smile.
early 30’s, hydranga, gorgeous color, again elusive as a painting.
at 36, peony, those lovely layers.
and now, at 40(ugh!) always a favorite, the Iris. i have painted it, and am happy with it, and still wish to paint it.

It was this neighbor that that through her kindness and patience started me down the path of crafting. Gardenias will always hold a special place in my heart!

I’ve never really been a flowery girl, but for some reason tulips speak to me. I think it’s because of the variety of colors…and they aren’t over-fragrant. They also are a sign of spring. I just love it when the green starts to sprout. Even in crazy long-winter weather, seeing the first signs of tulips makes me smile in anticipation of sweet spring.

We were married in February, so this was a bit of a challenge- luckily in Italy, where we were married, the climate is more temperate and the florist was able to come through. Snapdragons.
When we lived in MD we were on a military post but had a small yard that I was able to plant things…do a little landscaping.
    OK…since I had no idea what I was doing…
    I experimented.
And I planted Snapdragons one year…
    from seeds…
and the following year they were HUGE!
My parents came to visit and my Daddy was in the back yard and saw my Snapdragons…
he couldn’t believe how huge and utterly gorgeous they were.
He told me then something I never knew…
something even my mother didn’t know…
and in all of the years of my mother planting and gardening…
and him complaining about how difficult it was to mow and trim around her countless flower beds…
    he loved Snapdragons.
    They were his favorite flower.
    When he died…
I insisted that Snapdragons were included in his casket arrangement.

I have many favourites since there are many types of flowers (indoors, outdoors, cut flowers, border flowers, flowering trees, vines, shrubs, etc, etc. lol). I love lilacs for their gorgeous smell, but only when kept outdoors and still growing on the trees. I love magnolias for their incredibly understated elegance in the garden. I love peonies (minus the ants), but just to admire not to grow. If I’m growing them in the garden myself, I like roses best. Hydrangeas are a lovely, lovely flower too and up here (Southern Ontario) they last and last. I think they’re the prettiest thing to use for flowering shrubs.
The best thing about flowers is the same thing that is so wonderful about humans, animals and of course, paper crafting. There is a colour, shape and style for everyone no matter what we are naturally drawn to!

My favorite flower is the gladiola, for two reasons. First, my brother (whom I lost about 10 years ago) loved them too, and planted them profusely in his front yard. The other reason is because they come in a variety of colors! And I love Papertrey Ink too, because of the variety of styles you present!

Without question, hydrangeas. I had them in my wedding bouquet and have loved them ever since. I’ve also discovered that they are perfect for a gardener like me–they grow best on dead wood and look amazing every summer with no fuss! Mine have even inspired a local artist walking by. She knocked on my door and asked to take a few home because the warm, burgundy colour in August was what she was trying to capture in her painting.

Daffodils. I love that they are one of the first signs of spring. We had a bunch of them growing in our yard when I was young and I loved their cheerfulness. Funny story – my husband knows I love daffodils. But it’s not really something you get at a florist in an arrangement. So somehow he got it in his head that I love yellow flowers (which is not true – just daffodils), and now he always calls the florist and asks for a bouquet of yellow flowers. It’s so sweet that I don’t have the heart to tell him. 🙂

My favorite flower is the lilac. I have such fond memories of trimming stems of them off the bush with my grandmother. And their scent is like no other. Unfortunately, we can’t grow lilacs where I live in Texas, but every time I see a photo of beautiful lilacs, I swear I can smell them like it was yesterday!

Peonies because we take them to the cemetery for Memorial Day and both of those 2 because they were the flowers for my daughters’ weddings. I love Lily of the Valley because it always blooms for Mothers Day. As you can see flowers are inter-related to the occasions and seasons of my life. I really love the lily. It’s so beautiful and comes in many colors. I have loved them since they were placed in my wedding bouquet in 1993.

Roses because they remind me of my Granny. She had over 100 rose bushes in her garden and could tell the name of every variety!

My favorite flower is the poinsettia. I remember going to church as a child on Christmas Eve and seeing all the poinsettias lining the stage in memory of people who passed away. It was such a beautiful sight and it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it

Oh this is a hard question…I think for me it is peonies in the spring and by far garden roses in the summer – especially the heirloom roses with their incredible fragrances. But really any flower will do -dahlias, lilacs, daisies, tulips, daffodils, pansies – oh I adore happy pansy faces. You know as I think about it more this is a very hard question to answer. How can I rule out one of God’s beautiful creations over another? Luckily with all the beautiful year of flowers series I never have to in stamping land! Thanks for another incredible release PTI! I am in craft heaven tonight! 🙂

I love so many flowers, but i do love a big bunch of yellow day lilies- they are so pretty and cheery. One of my new favorite varieties of that is the Asiatic lily – I love the pinks and purples in it.

I love petunias! When I was a little girl, my mom always planted all her flower patches with pretty petunias. Each year she would choose a different color scheme, but always petunias.

I happen to love orchids. Why? Because they’re beautiful, elegant and rare (in terms of how long it takes them to grow). I have one that blooms about once every two years so it’s really a treat when that happens. Any chance of a PTI set dedicated to one??? 

My favorite flower is the Hydrangea. They are so beautiful. They bloom all summer long, and if you pick a bouquet to put in the house, the bouquet will last for a very long time. This flower just speaks of crisp quiet early summer mornings when the sun is first up.

My favourite flower is an Australian native…Correa reflexa, sometimes known as Dusky Bells. I studied it for my Botany honours thesis, and included it in my wedding bouquet. With that kind of background, you can guess how much I’m loving this release!

Boy, that’s a tough one. But, I would have to say that my favorite flower is the tulip. They are just so pretty. And I think the fact that they don’t bloom for very long makes them even more special to me.

My favorite flower is the peony. I love how big and full and fluffy the flower is… It has so many petals and smells so fresh and pretty! I remember walking through a garden of peonies when I was a young child and thinking they were the most amazing flower- with their blooms as big as my face…
