Introducing the Fruit Fusion Collection

May 12, 2011      Nichole Heady      816 Comments

Welcome to day four of our May Release festivities!  We have an AMAZING group post put together for you today, so let's dig in!

Melissa Bickford has designed an entire product line entitled Fruit Fusion.  The collection includes a total of six mini stamp sets, six coordinating dies and a beautiful patterned paper pad.  The entire Fruit Fusion line-up is simply AMAZING and holds so many possibilities.  And the best part?  Everything is broken down into bite-size pieces so you have the opportunity to purchase only what you love.

Fruitti-Tutti-front-cover
To start, the patterned paper pad includes six colorful designs, each focusing on one of the fruit themes from the collection.  The prints she designed are just so "happy" and bring so much color to a project!  They will stand on their own or pair well with the stamp sets.

The details.

  • The Fruitti Tutti patterned paper pad will be available for sale on May 15th.
  • It will retail for $8.
  • The Fruitti Tutti patterned paper pad contains six (8×8) sheets each of six patterns.  The patterns coordinate with Simply Chartreuse, Pure Poppy, Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet & Dark Chocolate.

Now, let's move onto the stamp sets!

Apple-title
Fruit Fusion: Apple is the first set I am introducing today.  This adorable little set features separate images for the apple & stem so you can use multiple colors.  One of the apple stamps is solid with a pretty fill pattern and the second is a "halved" apple with the seeds exposed.  The word "apple" is a separate stamp which can be added to complete the coordinating tastefully "punny" sentiments.

Apple-die
The details.

  • Fruit Fusion: Apple will be available for sale on May 15th.
  • It will retail for $5.
  • Fruit Fusion: Apple includes a total of 7 stamps (1 solid apple, 1 halved apple, 1 solid stem, 1 outline stem and 3 sentiments)
  • A coordinating die will be available for purchase separately for $3.  It measures 1-1/4" x 1-1/4".

And now for my creation with this set…

Thank you apple card
I chose to create my version of patterned paper with the stamps from this little set.  I alternated the colors New Leaf & Simply Chartreuse with both of the apple images.  Notice that each apple uses the opposite color for it's stem.

Stitching closeup
The sentiment is comprised of a Wonderful Words die & Wonderful Words Additions stamp set.  The "thank" was stamped in Simply Chartreuse and trimmed down to a block.  "You" was die cut from Simply chartreuse cardstock and adhered in place with a 2-way glue pen.  I used some fun stitching with my sewing machine to help add emphasis to the sentiment and help it stand out from the background.

Berry-title

Fruit Fusion: Berry is the second set I am introducing today.  This cute set features separate images for the strawberry & stem so you can use multiple colors.  The word "berry" is a separate stamp which can be added to complete the coordinating tastefully "punny" sentiments.

Berry-die
The details.

  • Fruit Fusion: Berry will be available for sale on May 15th.
  • It will retail for $5.
  • Fruit Fusion: Berry includes a total of 6 stamps (1 strawberry, 1 stem and 4 sentiments)
  • A coordinating die will be available for purchase separately for $3.  It measures 1-1/4" x 1-3/4".

And now for my creation with this set…

Berry card
This bright & bold card is just perfect for a summertime thank you!

Berry closeup
I die-cut the strawberry shapes from white cardstock and stamped them with Raspberry Fizz & Simply Chartreuse.  I allowed them to dry just a bit, then used a 2-way glue pen to add dabs of adhesive and sprinkled on glitter.  This helps to define the "seeds" and add a bit of sparkle.  I stamped the stem from Flower Fusion #4 onto scrap cardstock and trimmed just the leaves out to add behind the strawberry cluster.

Sentiment

I used Mat Stack 5 to frame my sentiment.  I started by stamping the top and bottom halves of the die-cut with Background Basics: Gingham using Sweet Blush ink.  I then added a line of stitching with my sewing machine along the edge of the borders.  The sentiment fit perfectly between them.  Note the fun Cane Print texture I added to the Aqua Mist background using the new impression plate.

Cherries-title
Fruit Fusion: Cherries is the third set I am introducing today.  This adorable little set features separate images for the cherries & stem so you can use multiple colors.  I love how you can mix and match the patterned & outlined cherries for a variety of looks!

Cherries-die
The details.

  • Fruit Fusion: Cherries will be available for sale on May 15th.
  • It will retail for $5.
  • Fruit Fusion: Cherries includes a total of 6 stamps (1 solid cherry duo, 1 outline cherry, 1 stem, 1 set of leaves and 2 sentiments)
  • A coordinating die will be available for purchase separately for $3.  It measures 3/4" x 1-1/2" and cuts two cherries at once.
  • PLEASE NOTE: the two solid cherries in this set are combined on a single base for easy one step stamping in conjunction with the stem.  I personally cut the two apart so that I could mix and match the two different patterns I saw fit.  There is plenty of room between them to trim them apart and I suggest that perhaps you do the same to bring your set more versatility.

And now for my creation with this set…

Cherries card
I let the new Fruitti Tutti patterned paper set the tone for my project.  I created a card front with the paper, Pure Poppy cardstock stamped with Polka Dot Basics and a little Rickrack die-cut from Simply Chartreuse cardstock.

Sentiment closeup
For the focal point, I die-cut white cardstock with the Limitless Layers 2.5" circle and stamped it with the cherries & sentiment.  I used Pure Poppy & Simply chartreuse on the cherries and True Black for the sentiment.

Grapes-title

Fruit Fusion: Grapes is the fourth set I am introducing today.  This amazing little set features separate images for the grapes & stem so you can use multiple colors.  The word "bunch" is a separate stamp which can be added to complete the coordinating tastefully "punny" sentiments.

Grapes-die
The details.

  • Fruit Fusion: Grapes will be available for sale on May 15th.
  • It will retail for $5.
  • Fruit Fusion: Grapes includes a total of 9 stamps (1 solid bunch of grapes, 1 outlined bunch of grapes, 1 solid stem, 1 outlined stem, 1 vine tendril and 4 sentiments)
  • A coordinating die will be available for purchase separately for $3.  It measures 1" x 1-1/2".

And now for my creation with this set…

Grapes card
My project is super, super simple, but I really love how it's turned out.  I started by die-cutting the grapes shape and stamping the outline versions of both the stem & the grapes onto the die-cut.    I colored them n with Scarlet Jewel & Ripe Avocado Copic Trios.

Sentiment closeup
Next, I heat embossed the sentiment from the set then added the background from Background Basics: Retro with VersaMark ink.  I drew a frame around the edge of the Scarlet Jewel center using a black pen and ruler.

Melon-title

Fruit Fusion: Melon is the fifth set I am introducing today.  This amazing little set features separate images for the rind & fruit segment so you can use multiple colors.  One of the fruit segment images is a fun plaid while the second has a Tin-Types style pattern applied to it.  The word "melon" is a separate stamp which can be added to complete the coordinating tastefully "punny" sentiments.

Melon-die
The details.

  • Fruit Fusion: Melon will be available for sale on May 15th.
  • It will retail for $5.
  • Fruit Fusion: Melon includes a total of 7 stamps (1 melon rind, 2 patterned melon segments and 4 sentiments)
  • A coordinating die will be available for purchase separately for $3.  It measures 1-1/2" x 1-3/4".

And now for my creation with this set…

Melon card
I've always loved soft, pretty cards and this one fits the bill perfectly.  I used the Edgers #3 die to cut both the front and back covers of my Kraft card base.  The focal point uses Library Card as its base.

Melon closeup
For the melon, I die cut the rind from white cardstock and stamped it with Ripe Avocado.  I then die-cut the fruit segment from Melon Berry cardstock and stamped the plaid image with Fresh Snow ink.

Ribbon closeup
I used a Melon Berry Copic marker to add a stripe down the middle of this 1/4" silk ribbon.  As always, love this subtle effect for projects like this.

Pear-title
Fruit Fusion: Pear is the sixth set I am introducing today.  This fun little set features separate images for the pear & stem so you can use multiple colors.  One of the pear stamps is solid with a pretty fill pattern and the second is a "halved" pear with the seeds exposed.  The word "pear" is a separate stamp which can be added to complete the coordinating tastefully "punny" sentiments.

Pear-die
The details.

  • Fruit Fusion: Pear will be available for sale on May 15th.
  • It will retail for $5.
  • Fruit Fusion: Pear includes a total of 8 stamps (1 solid pear, 1 halved pear, 1 solid stem, 1 outline stem, 1 pear seed and 3 sentiments)
  • A coordinating die will be available for purchase separately for $3.  It measures 1" 1-3/4".

And now for my creation with this set…

Pear card
Have you ever paired together Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest and Vintage Cream together?  They are perfect together, taking on a warm golden glow.  To begin, I created my card base from Summer Sunrise cardstock.  I stamped the cover with the flower trio image from Blooming Button Bits stamp set all over it using Orange Zest ink.  I then used some of the individual dots from Polka Dot Basics to fill in the centers.

Pear closeup
I stamped the pears onto a Vintage Cream layer using Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest & Spring Moss.  The center one is die-cut and adhered with a little foam tape for dimension.  The sentiment is from Blooming Button Bits and it is added with Dark Chocolate ink.  I also added to lines of embossing under the sentiment using my Scor-pal.

Love the Fruit Fusion stamps and die sets. It’s funny how looking at each one reminded me of a member of my family. Apple:me – my surname starts with A and I’ve used it as my symbol for years. The cherries:my Mum – her Mum’s name is Cherry and so they always remind Mum of her Mum. The grapes:my Dad – he worked in wineries for years and it’s still a passion of his. My Mum even has a set of diamond grape earrings in his honour! The watermelon:my son – really he loves ANY and ALL fruit but particularly watermelon. Nice and juicy!

I echo another comment I read “got to have them all…stamps, dies and paper.” The patterned paper is the first one that I’ve seen that I don’t care how much it cost I would buy it right this second. The colors are delicious, the style whimsical, refreshing, happy, I just can’t describe it enough. Melissa, you’ve knocked it out of the park! Great job!

Must admit though after seeing all the DT examples, it would be hard to order just one. The real asset here is a coordinating die for each, and the patterned paper another winner. WTG, PTI ~ you rock!

I also love that you have broken the sets into $5 bits and that the dies are also individual. My favorites are the apple and cherry. If I had to pick one, I’d pick the apple. The versatility of the apple–teacher, ipods, Rosh Hashanah–make it something I know I will use often in many different contexts. That being said, I will probably want to own them all.

It is so nice to be able to really pick your favorites, and know that you will use them all the time! I am really loving that you are doing this with a lot of different sets, and making things more affordable for the consumer. That is definitely a need in this economy, and you are letting people keep up with the latest and greatest without breaking the bank. That is so commendable, and a wonderful business decision.
