Introducing Flower Fusion #3, Think Big Favorites #3 & Chevron Stripes

April 11, 2011      Nichole Heady      675 Comments

I have a lot of exciting things to introduce to you today so let's dig right in!

Maile's headshot
First up is a new background set from Maile Belles.  If you have been keeping up to date with the latest fashion trends, chevron stripes have made a huge comeback as as popular motif on fabrics and such.  Now Maile has created an easy to use background set that has several individual chevron stripes that you can either arrange the way you like on a single block or stamp several stripes individually in a variety of colors.  Not to mention it is an amazing value for all you can do with it!

The details.

  • Background Basics: Chevron Stripes will be available for purchase on April 15th.
  • It will retail for $15.
  • Background Basics: Chevron Stripes contains a total of 7 stripe images measuring 4-3/4" long.

Melissa's headshot
Melissa Bickford has designed a spectacular addition to her Flower Fusion line-up.

Flower-Fusion-3-die
The simple five-petal daisy design is fun and so versatile.  The set includes a solid large daisy, a outline large daisy and a small outline daisy.  And I can't forget to mention the flower center, stem & fabulous sentiments done in the traditional Flower Fusion style!

The details.

  • Flower Fusion #3 will be available for sale on April 15th.
  • It will retail for $5.
  • Flower Fusion #3 contains a total of 7 stamps (1 solid large daisy, 1 outline large daisy, 1 small outline daisy, 1 dot flower center, 1 stem and 2 sentiments).
  • A coordinating flower die will be available for purchase separately for $3.  The die coordinates with the two large daisy images in the set.

Candice's headshot
Candice Aguilar is bringing us this month's addition to our ongoing Think Big Favorites series.

Think-Big-Favorites-reveal
Her popular set, Birds of a Feather, had some of the most highly requested customer sentiment favorites in our forum!  This super-sized version of the sentiments will open a whole new world of options to you!

The details.

  • Think Big Favorites #3 will be available fore sale April 15th.
  • It will retail for $5.
  • Think Big Favorites #3 contains a total of 3 sentiment stamps.
  • "With Sympathy" measures 2-1/4" x 1-1/4".  "Merci" measures 1-5/8" x 1-1/8".  "Hello Friend" measures 2-1/2" x 1".

Now, how about we move onto some fun projects!

Smile Card
First, a bright & colorful project that's full of sunshine!  I started by stamping one of the solid Chevron Stripes once each on New Leaf, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise & Lemon Tart.  I love how well they fill in the bottom portion of an A2 card.

Focal closeup
The focal point is made up with images from Flower Fusion #3.  The flower stem is stamped in New Leaf while the flower is stamped in two layers using Summer Sunrise & Orange Zest.  Before stamping the flower, I had die-cut it from white cardstock, making it easy to pop it up on dimensionals.  All of this was done on a Mat Stack 1 die-cut.

Down
It's a simple card, but yet packs a lot of punch.  I love the clean look of white on white, don't be afraid to experiment with that yourself!

Merci Card
Another simple card, but in a sophisticated black & kraft color scheme.

Sentiment closeup
For the focal point, I die-cut Mat Stack 5 from Kraft cardstock and stamped it with "Merci" from Think Big Favorites #3.  The outline flower from Flower Fusion #3 was added directly centered over the dotted "i" in the sentiment.  I finished it off with a small black rhinestone over the dot.

Back view
For the card base, I assembled several Chevron Stripes on a single block and stamped them repeatedly down the length of my Kraft card base.  Sometimes when I am creating a simple card with a dominant background pattern I like to carry it all the way around to the back.  It really adds a lot to the project.

Down
I love the contrast of black & kraft and the vibrancy of these stripes and look forward to combining the look with other Think Big Favorites sentiments.

Sympathy Card
Now for a simple, tasteful sympathy card.

Sentiment closeup
I started with stamping the "With Sympathy" sentiment from Think Big Favorites #3 in Smokey Shadow ink onto Vintage Cream card base.  The flowers (from Flower Fusion #3) were added with Ocean Tides ink, with the centers done in Spring Moss.

Down
I stamped the leaf/stem combo image onto a separate piece of Vintage Cream cardstock and cut out just the leaves to highlight my floral images.  This same look could be recreated in a huge variety of color options or sentiment choices.

Hello Friend Card
This is one of my favorite projects for today because it features a fun unique color scheme of Sweet Blush, Orange Zest, Berry Sorbet, Scarlet Jewel & Terracotta Tile.

Sentiment closeup
The card features the "hello friend" sentiment from Think Big Favorites #3 stamped in True Black.  I added two lines underneath it with a ruler and pen.  The flower is die-cut from True Black felt using the Flower Fusion #3 die, finished off with a Scarlet Jewell button.

Stripes closeup
The Chevron Stripes were stamped on Sweet Blush cardstock from top to bottom in Scarlet Jewel, Berry Sorbet & Orange Zest.

Down
I hope you enjoyed all the creative goodness I shared with you today.  All of these sets have so much packed into them, it's almost as if they are part of an extra value meal!  We would love to hear your initial thoughts on all three of these sets.  You could win big today just by sharing your thoughts with us!

I love all of these sets. I’ve been collecting the flower fusion sets, and really like how they all coordinate with eachother. They also work well with beautiful blooms. The sentiments and font for Think Big are beautiful, and you have given me so many ways to think about using them. Honestly, I thought I could do without the Chevron stripes, but the more I see them used, the more I like them. I like the fact that they can be part of the background, or they can be a focal point on the card, calling out for attention. Lastly, I am liking the price points (!)

I also love the shape of the flower in the flower fusion set – its a shape that features in practically all my doodling so I will that there are both solid and outline stamps- increases the versatility hugely – as of course does the companion die. The chevron stamps are really going to be fun – clearly they can have a retro feel to them, but they also can look so fresh and crisp. Tons of versatility with all of these sets.

I love the idea of the Chevron stripes being used individually or as a grouping. Very nice option. The Think Big Favorites #3 have got to be my favroite set so far of this series. They are very elegant yet playful and will serve me very well. I haven’t noticed Birds of a Feather until now, but really do like the images in this set.
