Welcome back for day 6 of our 4th Anniversary festivities! Today marks the start of the "official" countdown, where I will be showcasing all of our new February products for the next five days, along with some help from the rest of the team!
Today I have an AMAZING, innovative product line to unveil…a little something that Michelle Wooderson and I have been working on together.
Several months ago, Michelle sent me sketches for a unique concept where a stamper can "build" their own vintage button cards. As soon as I lay eyes on her concepts, and was dreaming about using this set myself, I just KNEW this was something I had to help bring to life!
Button Boutique is the result of Michelle bringing her love of all things vintage together with her love of stamping.
The details.
- Button Boutique will be available for sale on February 15th.
- It will retail for $24.
- Button Boutique contains a total of 29 stamps (2 full-size button card frames, 4 borders, 6 decorative titles, 6 small accent sentiments, 1 stitched button divider, 4 large buttons, 3 small buttons, 2 small stitch images to use with buttons, 1 "handstamped by" image)
- These images are designed to coordinate with the Button Card Die Collection (more details below)
To complement the new Button Boutique set, we are also bringing you a fun new die collection. This set of three dies makes it easy to create authentic looking vintage button cards. The large rounded rectangle will match up perfectly with the frames & titles int he stamp set. The small "hang tag hole" can be added for more authenticity. And finally the pinked-edge "fabric swatch" is the perfect thing to add as a mat behind your buttons and more!

- The Button Card Die Collection will be available for purchase on February 15th.
- The set of three dies will retail for $10.
- The Button Card Die Collection contains three dies with the following dimensions: 2-3/8" x 3-1/2" (A), 3/4" x 1/4" (B), 1-1/2" square (C).
In addition to the above Button Card Die Collection, we are also bringing you coordinating button dies! I mean, you totally can't be creating all those adorable new button cards without having some fun, unique buttons to add into the mix! We're talking thin chipboard, felt, fabric, patterned paper…the possibilities are endless!
The details.
- Both the Buttoned Up #1 & Buttoned Up #2 dies will not be available for purchase until approximately February 18th due to some quality control issues. This is only a estimated arrival, so they could possibly arrive sooner or later than this estimated date. We will be sure to keep you posted.
- The Buttoned Up #1 Die & Buttoned Up #2 Die will retail for $5 individually.
- The Buttoned Up #1 Die creates three standard buttons with a single cut measuring 1", 3/4" & 1/2".
- The Buttoned Up #1 Die coordinates with the all 7 of the button images in the new Button Boutique stamp set.
- The Buttoned Up #2 Die creates three scalloped-edge buttons with a single cut measuring 1", 3/4" & 1/2".
Now, what fun would it be if you couldn't die-cut heavy-duty button cards for use as mini-book covers or sturdy gift tags? And who would want to diminish their creativity by not creating their very own buttons with dimension and pizzaz?
All of these things are possible with a new light-weight, die-cuttable coaster-board we will now be carrying! After endless amounts of researching, testing and more testing, we have found the PERFECT coaster-board that will work seamlessly with nearly all of our dies! Think of coaster-board buttons covered with pretty patterned papers! And the best part? It is already a beautiful cream color, ready to be stamped!

- Papertrey Coasters will be available for sale on February 15th.
- One package will retail for $1.
- A single package contains (25) Vintage Cream 4-inch square coasters.
- This coasterboard is approximately 1/16" thick, with the perfect balance of softness & sturdiness to work with the majority of our dies. (Some dies with several small, detailed interior cuts may not give you optimum results)
I have one additional stamp set to introduce to you today as well. When I was experimenting with how I would want to use the button cards and button die shapes, I discovered that it would be so much fun to have smaller scaled background patterns with them. Specifically adding patterns to the buttons themselves as well as the "pinked-edge fabric swatch" shape from the Button Card Die Collection.
This is how the new Bitty Background Blocks stamp set came to be! It contains six 1-1/2" square small-scale pattern swatches. You will love how versatile this little set can be, even beyond buttons!

- These blocks will coordinate with the "pinked-edge fabric swatch" die from the Button Card Die Collection.

Well, I definitely think that that's enough new stuff for one day! Let's get onto the projects!
Are these not THE cutest things you have ever seen?
Many of you have probably been dabbling in the latest craze, just like me, making flower pins. hair clips, headbands and the like. I know I like to package them up as gifts for people, but it can be a little time consuming (not to mention daunting) to create something that looks really sophisticated and polished. Button Boutique provides THE perfect solution for these!
I started by cutting out some flowers with these Beautiful Blooms dies. I cut large flowers from Terracotta Tile felt and smaller ones from fabric that I backed with interfacing.
I folded each of the flowers in half and in half again, stitching them in place on top of an unfolded, flat flower. It really only takes a few minutes and I love the volume you can achieve.
The smaller fabric flower was adhered to a hair clip using a hot glue gun. I also attached a handmade button to the center. I die-cut with the Buttoned Up #2 die from our new Coasters and then stamped it with a coordinating stamp from Button Boutique using Berry Sorbet ink.
For the felt flower pin, I created a special button by stamping one of the larger Coaster buttons I die-cut earlier with this beautiful pattern from Bitty Background Blocks. (It is a miniature version of In Bloom!)
The button was hot glued to the center of the felt flower…
and the back glued to a pin back, covered with a circle of additional felt.
The button card for the hair clip was SO easy! I just die cut the Button Card from one of our Coasters and stamped it with the frame using Terracotta Tile ink. It's all one big image, so it is really just one quick step!
The swatch was created by die-cutting Vintage Cream cardstock with the pinked-edge fabric swatch die from the Button Card die collection. I then was able to easily stamp it with the gingham pattern from Bitty Background Blocks.
I cut two slits through the card and clipped the hair clip in place for it's final presentation!
The pin card is a bit simpler. It is stamped with the simple outline frame, followed by the "Vintage Style" heading and the "handmade is best" sentiment at the bottom.
You might have noted that I used the hang tag hole die along with the button card this time. I didn't add it to the Hair Clip card because it would have obstructed the design at the top of the frame stamp, but in this particular case, it worked out perfectly!
I found the easiest way to use it was put THREE glue dots on the back of the tiny die and adhere it directly to the button card die. Be sure to use three glue dots to avoid shifting. Then after you die cut you card, you can remove it if you wish so you can use it without the hole again.
My next project is inspired by a BEAUTIFUL book I picked up recently. It is entitled French General Treasured Notions by Kaari Meng (and quite honestly ALL books from Kaari are amazingly stunning). It contains beautiful photography of different types of vintage notions and crafts to create with them, including fun button projects. In fact, I used this book as a bit of a inspiration while I was designing Button Boutique as well.
This is the project that was directly inspired by the book. I love warm blue tones paired with cream and linen colors. So dreamy, peaceful…
This time I die-cut the button card from Ocean Tides cardstock, with the hang tag hole portion glue-dotted in place. I stamped the frame followed by the "Superior Quality" banner at the bottom then finished with the small "Made in USA Papertrey Ink" at the very bottom. I also added the "25-cents" border at the top. All of this was stamped in Fresh Snow.
I die-cut a pice of muslin fabric with the pinked edge fabric swatch die from the Button Card Collection. I then stamped the fabric with one of the patterns from Bitty Background Blocks. Isn't it just stunning! I know I'll be using this concept a lot! This swatch was layered over a strip of vintage book print. Buttons were stitched on top, two die-cut from coasters and covered with patterned paper, the other two are Vintage Cream buttons.
I die-cut another piece of muslin with the Love Lives Here circle/heart die. I stamped it with one of the patterns from Bitty Background Blocks using Ocean Tides ink.

Ok I am already in love. I love using buttons on my cards, but this gives you the flexibility to add a “paper” button that isn’t so bulky. Yeah!!! Not to mention you can make a button in any PTI color of your choosing. Can’t wait to see what is next.

I love buttons, my Mom had a wonderful old tin of buttons that she kept. She also had old button cards, but I would never want to use them on anything, so these are just the ticket!!

What a beautiful release – have never seen anything like it out there in ‘cyber craft land’. I am a ‘button person’ from way back and cannot make a card without at least one button. The dies and stamps would be such a wonderful way to create every button colour of the rainbow. Wonderful. Looking forward to the rest of the February releases.

What a SUPER great idea!! Love the possibility of making buttons that are “flatter” than real ones, but look real. The bitty backgrounds are a lovely addition, which I think I would not only use on the buttons, but on all kinds of diecuts. Can’t wait to see more of this months release

I’m SO excited about the buttons! It reminds me of being a child, flipping through my mom’s big sewing basket of button cards. Oh how I wish she were here to crochet me some flowers for the many button cards I will be creating with these awesome set(s)! The possibilities are ENDLESS!!!!
Not to mention how handy these will be when I want to make and mail a card with button accents, minus the cost and damage from the USPS! Definitely a plus!

I can’t believe it’s the first of the design team projects for this release and there’s so much packed in to this first day. This button set is so cute. I love the new doilies that are coming up and the new patterned paper is so pretty. And a new color that I can see using for many things, including Fourth of July cards.

Oh my giddyness!! This is amazing!! One of my favourite things when I was a wee lass was going through my Mama’s sewing cabinets admiring all the pretty fabrics and gushing over the gorgeous notions that it held. My favourite thing now is to look over the lace scraps and buttons that my Mama gave me recently. They are so vintage and gorgeous and are packaged so similarly to this!! My mom still has a can of old buttons from my Great-Grandmother that I used to love to play with when I was a child – thinking I should go and get that can and look through them again!! Now we’ll never have to worry about not having that matching button since we can create them on demand. The coasterboard is another definite asset to your product offerings. Oh, wow!! I really love the idea of the diecut ‘buttons’!! So many ways they could be prettied up to have the perfect embellishment for a project without as much bulk as real buttons! Love it all actually….
What is it about buttons? I love them, I play with them, I enjoy rooting through the bag of PTI buttons when I get them (and squeal in delight when I find that really unique one!). Yep, these are all going to be mine. If Betsy didn’t sell me, Maile did. Well, they all did. Best group post… ever.

Oh wow! What a great idea and concept! Leave up to the PTI gals to figure it all out for us! It is true that since the felt and flower dies came out, I’ve been creating tons of cute hairpieces. The packaging of them for gifts was always a challenge. Now you’ve made it so simple! I also can’t wait for the button collection. Love how it can be made with coasters so that it’s so much sturdier. Can’t wait for this set!
When I saw the first image of the flower pin and clip I actually said “oh Dear God!”. I didn’t twig with your sneak peak that this was going to be a stamp set, I was thinking a new range of more special buttons that would be purchased as a card of 4. How wrong was I?!?! This is an amazing set and concept. Mish is a genius – I always love seeing her sketches too.
Truly original, I’m over the moon for this and can’t wait to pick up every single piece of it!!!

I already love the Bitty Background Blocks (love all the patterns I have seen so far). I have to admit that I’m not into buttons much, but I can see using the Button Card die collection for other uses.

I am just like Mish. . . .I find these wonderful vintage button cards but I just cannot bring myself to use them. . . First I thought, mmmm, what can I do with this… But after seeing all those beautifull creations, WOW and I mean WOW, I just have to have this set. I LOVE it.
I am lovign the possibilities for packaging brooches etc for craft fairs. This looks quick and easy which is great. Also when made andput together they look fab. Hmm another dilemma lol. Lesley

The button stamp set and dies are so very neat! I am crazy for buttons and I use them a lot! When my good friend’s Mom passed away, she gave me 100s of vintage buttons from her Mom’scollection. That was 15 yrs ago and I can’t part with them but I often look at and appreciate them, likewise do visitors who see them displayed in my home. The thought of creating my own button cards and fabric swatches … oh, my … makes me swoon! Heehee! 🙂

This set and all the projects reminded me of my Mum’s button box. When I was little I would spend hours looking at all the buttons and trying decide what I could make with them. Thanks for bringing back a great memory. I can’t wait to use this set.

I really love this whole button idea! The dies, stamps, new tiny backgrounds, etc. are all awesome! The projects that have been shown take me back to my childhood when I loved playing with my mother’s sewing box and all the delicious buttons she had in her stash. It’ll be so fun to play with this idea using these new goodies and recapture some lovely memories.

What a beautiful set of dies & stamps…how great these would be to play with for mini-albums. I have such great memories of my grandmother’s button jar & lace/ribbon scraps boxes I played with as a child, and this set really makes me want to make some button accents for a mini-album for my mom…

I love the idea that I can create my own buttons! At Christmas our cards were made using “Wreath for all Seasons” stamped on the Tag 1 die with a button on the hole. I love that I could use that design and make the buttons match with any patterned paper. So many possibilities! And to be able to use the new coasterboard??? Amazing!

This such a great idea! And I just LOVE the In Bloom stamps done miniature…that makes me so happy that I have the large In Bloom set…I’m already dreaming of ways to use them together 🙂 To have a stamp set that works for cards AND gifts…wow, wow, wow!!!

I really like all the new products you showed today! Those button dies are fabulous and I am so happy you introduced the cork board- it will give the buttons a fabulous thickness on the card. WOW. What fabulous products you showed today! I can’t wait to see the full stamp sets but I know this is going to be a big month for me. This whole anniversary celebration has been a lot of fun and I look forward to the next couple of days! The possibilities with these “blank” buttons are just endless and I love that I can know create matching buttons or buttons using patterned papers. I know they will look fabulous on the cards.

I can already tell by the design team projects that there are so many uses for the buttons and I’m super excited about the coaster board. What could be more perfect to get that chipboard effect and be able to use your PTI dies?

These are all amazing!! It could be a whole new series! I have packages of vintage seam binding, ric rac, snaps, hooks & eyes and other sewing notions that cannot bring myself to use. Vintage sewing notions are so much fun! Great job with the patterns and buttons!
As always, PTI has rocked the house with this stamp set. I love the barrettes! I think it’s so cool how you all break out of the papercrafting mold to use the stamps and dies with all kinds of materials and all kinds of projects. I can’t wait to own these–thanks for the chance to win!

I love the button! I like to use buttons on scrapbook pages and cards, but then they are so lumpy -this is the perfect way to solve that problem and they’ll always match!

I am a “buttonholic”. I have buttons that date back over 100 years. And I use them. My friends love to get cards with these old buttons. No sense of keeping them in a drawer. This will add to my treasure of button loving.

This release is beginning to look like a whole lot of trouble, and it’s only the first day!! The stamps, the dies, oh my! I’m imagining about a million different ways to use these.
Besides this being an absolutely adorable set, I have to say, it’s just PERFECT for me! I am always running into the problem of not having the right type of buttons for my projects. Now, I can stamp and die cut any pattern I want and it will be just what I’m looking for. I seriously can’t wait for this set!!!!
In first grade I had a dress that said “button, button, who has the button?”…PTI does! Beautiful samples here and on the DT blogs. This will be a hit this year; so much vintage goodness, and I’m very excited for both the stamps and the dies. Thanks for all the inspiration and anticipation of this release.

Love,love, the new button set and matching dies! I would love to put these on a card, as this would cut back on the mailing cost, what a great concept!!!! I am always hesitant about buttons because of the bulk, but this just fixed that!!!

What a great concept. So different and unique. I love antique button cards, in fact I just inherited some from my Aunt’s Sewing supplies that I received after she passed away.A card made from this set for her daughter as a thank you would be perfect. Thanks

It’s so like Papertrey to come up with an entirely new concept and just blow our socks off! These button cards are the cutest things I’ve seen in a long time!! What a great concept! I have made “paper” buttons by gluing sheets of CS together to get the right thickness and then adding DP for the top and coating it all with Diamond Glaze. Your coasters, button stamp set and button dies will make this process so much easier! I can’t wait!!! Thanks!
