Introducing Make a Wish & Additions

December 9, 2010      Nichole Heady      946 Comments

It's hard to believe that the December release has arrived, our very last release for 2010!  I couldn't possibly be more excited about what we have coming this month!  So much so, that it will definitely take a full five days to introduce all of it to you!

  Melissa's headshot

To kick off this release I thought we would start with two new birthday building sets by Melissa Bickford!  Make a Wish and Make a Wish Additions contain images AND sentiments that you can customize to suit your recipients style & taste!  You will be amazed by all the versatility the two offer!

Make a Wish features rounded polka-dotted squares in three different sizes that can be used to build tiered cakes, stacks of gifts, backgrounds and more.  The small companion images such as candles and bows help to add color and detail to the squares and assist in morphing them into your desired images!  With amazing companion sentiments included, you will never be at a loss for birthday inspiration again!

The details.

  • Make a Wish will be available for purchase on December 15th.
  • It will retail for $24.
  • Make a Wish contains a total of 22 stamps (3 graduated squares, 2 candle images, 3 bow images, 1 cake stand and 13 sentiments)

As a companion set, Make a Wish Additions contains a rectangular gift box with a blank strip through the middle that coordinates with two different patterned ribbon & bow images.  This set also contains customizable sentiments that have blank spaces, allowing you to add the recipients age.  You will love how many options this will give you and how special the recipient will feel when they receive something so personalized!

The details.

  • Make a Wish Additions will be available for purchase on December 15th.
  • It will retail for $15.
  • Make a Wish Additions contains a total of 22 stamps (1 rectangular gift box, 2 ribbon & bow images, numbers 0-9, 4 number suffix (st, th, nd & rd) and 5 sentiments)

Make-a-Wish-dies

To expand the possibilities even further, Melissa has designed a set of dies to coordinate with some of the basic shapes contained in these sets.  The Make a Wish Die Collection contains rounded squares to match those found in Make a Wish as well as a shape to match the rounded bow image from the set.  The collection also contains the shapes for the rectangular gift box, the ribbon & bow from Make a Wish Additions.  All in one easy collection!

The details.

  • The Make a Wish Die Collection will be available for purchase on December 15th.
  • It will retail for $10.
  • The Make a Wish Die Collection contains a total of 4 dies (3 rounded squares and a single die with the rectangular gift box, ribbon & bow combo and single bow)

Now, let's get onto the fun projects!

Bright & Bold group

I thought it would be fun to start off with this colorful grouping.  As soon as I saw the gift building images contained in Make a Wish Additions, I knew I wanted to create an ensemble like this that was bright and cheerful!

Make a Wish Card

This was the first portion of the collection that inspired the rest of the projects!

Dies
I started by die-cutting all of the gifts and ribbon from white cardstock then stamping them with the coordinating images in a variety of colors!

Gifts closeup

One the pieces were layered and assembled, I was left with this.  Aren't they so bright & cheerful?  Just makes you want to smile, doesn't it!

Down
The white background is impressed with our Book Print impression plate.  The sentiment is stamped onto white cardstock that has been cut out with our Double-Ended Banners die.

Tag Trio
After I fell in love with the gift images on the aforementioned card, I thought it would be wonderful to create some coordinating tags.

Red Tag
I used the large Basic Banners dies to create my tag base.  I also added a border from the Banner Borders die, stitched in place with my sewing machine.

Blue Tag
The frame and image are from the new Fillable Frames #11.  I just LOVE this frame!  It has such a unique shape to it!  The sentiment is from Make a Wish Additions.  Notice how I was able to customize it with the recipients age!

  Pink Tag

The gift images for each tag were created the same way as the ones used in my first card today.  Super easy and really unique!

Happy Birthday card
I wanted to use all these luscious colors together again, so I went ahead and stamped an all-over background pattern.

Patterned background
It was so fun to mix and match the colors and figure out how to randomly place them around the sheet.

Sentiment closeup
The frame image is from Fillable Frames #5 (one of my all-time favorites!) with the sentiment being from Make A Wish.

Down
I think this is one birthday card that would bring sunshine into anyone's day, no matter their age!

  Birthday Wishes Card

My next project goes in a completely different direction, embracing more vintage stylings.  Also, it focuses on some of the image building that can be done with Make a Wish.

Stamping cake
I was able to place all the different pieces of this cake image onto the block at once and stamp it in Haystack ink onto Vintage Cream cardstock.  The beauty of this building set is that you can make the cake as many tiers as you like to suit your project.

Sentiment closeup
I used 2-way glue at the top of each cake tier to add some sparkle with Prisma Glitter.  And I can't forget to tell you about the silk ribbon wrapped around the project as well!

Candles closeup
I also added some to the candle flames…

Star closeup
and the stars.  I love the small Fine Linen buttons added on top of the glittered stars.  Such a simple detail that helps to add so much dimension!  I think this card could work so well for a wedding as well, just by swapping out the sentiment, don't you?

I hope you have enjoyed all of today's creative inspirations! I had an absolute blast playing around with these sets and I know you will too when they arrive at your door!  What are your initial thoughts?  Do you make a lot of birthday cards?  Is there a particular project or image from the set that speaks to you?  We would love to hear from you!  Leave a comment on today's post for your chance to win BIG!
