Introducing Holiday Tree

October 10, 2009      Nichole Heady      694 Comments

Heather

Heather Nichols has done it again!  She's designed a wintry set that's user-friendly but unique at the same time.  The look is slightly rustic with just a smidge of whimsy, which is her signature style.  Perfectly perfect in every way!  Just wait until you see some of the projects created with this AMAZING set!

The details.

  • Holiday Tree will be available for purchase on October 15th.
  • It will retail for $24.
  • Holiday Tree contains a total of 31 images (13 images and 18 sentiments).

Let me show you what this set is all about!

Happy winter ensemble

This little ensemble just makes me so happy!  I paired up Ocean Tides, Fresh Snow & Classic Kraft for this project and I love the results.

Snowman card

(click on photo above for a larger view)

For the card, I started by stamping the trees across the Ocean Tides background using Fresh Snow ink.  I followed up by adding a few of the snowflake images from the set above the tree line using the same ink.  The "snowdrifts" at the bottom of the card front were cut from our Stamper's Select Vellum cardstock.  I chose vellum instead of solid cardstock because the "color" matched the way the white ink appears on the Ocean Tides cardstock.  To make it quick and easy for you to make your own snowdrifts, I have included a printable template below!

Download Vellum Snowdrifts Template

To use the snowdrift template, simply print it out then hold the vellum over the top of it and trace the pattern with pencil.  Cut out and add to your card!  Super easy!  And inexpensive!

Snowman card closeup

The snowman was stamped in Fresh Snow ink onto Classic Kraft cardstock, with the face & arms (all one stamp) using True Black.  As a little tip here, I found that if you let the white ink dry for a bit and then stamp the face & arms, you'll get a better impression.  The sentiment was added with black ink as well.  I traced around the edge of the tag with my 2-way glue pen and then sprinkled on some of our Prisma glitter.  So what do you think of this little snow guy?  Isn't he the cutest thing ever!  He's definitely neck and neck with the snowman from Holiday Button Bits!!!

Twinkle box

Here's a closeup of the box alone.  Recognize it?  It's our full-size Fold n' Go Timeless Template.  Love, love, love this size & shape.  It will be perfect for tucking in some home baked treats of some sort!

Stamping box

The box pretty much got the same treatment as the card, just remember to complete all the decor before you assemble the box and everything will go smoothly!  I used Scor-tape to adhere the vellum down and it is practically undetectable!

Peace Tree card

Here's another card I create with the same tree image.  This time it is stamped in Dark Chocolate ink onto Rustic Cream cardstock.

Colored tree

I colored the tree with our Ripe Avocado Copic Trio and added a bit of shading with a T1 Copic.  I love the way this turned out, so fun & festive.  Not to mention simple!

Button trio

A 1/4" strip of Pure Poppy cardstock is adhered on the card as an accent.  I added three small Pure Poppy buttons to the strip using glue dots.  I love how the buttons offset the sentiment so well.  Notice the background?  It's another peek at Background Basics: Text
Style II.  It is stamped directly onto the Ripe Avocado card base using
Versamark ink.

Glitter Tree card

(click on photo above for a larger view)

This is probably my personal favorite card of the bunch for this set, if you could pick a favorite!  The trees in this set come in different pieces so you are able to do layering if you like or not.  My last two projects used the tree pieces separately, now I thought I would show you a project with them together.  The tree tops are stamped in Spring Moss ink, while the trunk is stamped in Dark Chocolate.  I stamped the tree top on the third tree a second time using my glue pad.  I then was able to sprinkle on some of our Prisma glitter.

Glitter closeup

I used the same snowdrift template from the first project above to create a snowdrift along the bottom of my card to help ground the trees.  This time I only used one layer though, not two.  I ran my 2-way glue pen along the edge of the vellum and sprinkled on some Prisma glitter for some added sparkle & shine.

Happy happy joy joy card

(click on photo above for a larger view)

This last card is the result of a little challenge to myself to make a non-holiday card with this set.

Leaf pattern

I used the tree image with True Black ink to create this fun retro pattern on Raspberry Fizz cardstock.  I went back in with my white gel pen to add a few accent dots.  Definitely doesn't make you think of Christmas, does it?!?!

Rhinestone closeup

This sentiment stack was created with two words found in Holiday Tree.  I was inspired by the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" song from the Ren & Stimpy show I watched as a kid. The little birdie at the top of the sentiment stack is from Birds of a Feather.  To top it all off, I added some rhinestones in various sizes as a final accent.

So are you now in LOVE with this adorable little set as much as I am?  Aren't the bits and pieces just the cutest thing ever?  Share your thoughts with us in the comments section of
this post to be
eligible to win the following prize package:

  • Holiday Tree stamp set
  • Prisma Glitter
  • Stamper's Select Vellum Cardstock

It contains all the basics you need to make many of the projects shown today, including the vellum "snowdrifts"!  You have until 7am EST, Monday, October 12th to leave a comment
and be eligible to win.  Please play nice, only one comment per
person.  One winner will be randomly selected and announced the same
day no later than noon EST.  The winning announcement will be made on

I love the snowman trio. Now I’ll have to get my own account to order the templates. To be honest, I’ve been purchasing through a friend because it would be too tempting and too easy for me to purchase anything. Dang you! As a side note, I loved Ren & Stimpy. My son’s name is Logan and call him “Log” for short and then we sing him the Log song.
