Alli Miles has hit yet another home run with the set she has to offer up to you this month! And she also deserves a medal of honor for keeping this under wraps for so long! Alli’s new set entitled "Wise Owl" is an incredible versatile owl-building set that gives you the ability to create different expressions & personalities for your own owl creations. You will love all of the options she has built into this set, many of which she will describe during the coming week on her blog as she counts down to it’s release on the 15th!
………………………………………………………………………………………
I thought I would offer up a fun little project I created myself using her trendy new set. Owls are all the rage, but they’ve never been this customizable! This is a photo from Alli’s blog showing how all of the pieces of the owl are separate.
……………………………………………………………………………………..
There a few different beaks, wings, eyes and best of all BELLIES! In fact, I LOVED Alli’s interchangeable owl bellies SO much, there is an additional $5 mini set featuring TWELVE more bellies, this is in addition to the three already included in the Wise Owl stamp set! I used one of my favorite scalloped bellies for the owl I built here. Want to know one of my other FAVORITE characteristics about this set? ALL of the eyes coordinate perfectly with a 1/2-inch circle punch! I used one for the eyes on my owl here and loved the detail & dimension it added!
…………………………………………………………………………………………
But you know what else you can use those bellies for? To build patterned paper of course! And what better way to create patterned paper than to begin with a solid foundation, like Guide Lines! The dozen different patterned owl bellies are just as perfectly suited in creating backgrounds as they are an accessory to your owl building. I stamped both the Guide Lines & belly images with Versamark, followed by a small dot stamp from the set at each intersection of the grid. A dot of gold from my favorite paint pen served as the perfect finishing touch!
…………………………………………………………………………….
The extra special owl I created deserved a prominent place to perch, so I integrated a little something fun into my card design for today. This is the completed card. Notice how the upper portion of the cover has been trimmed away, exposing the upper interior of the card. The sentiment "a wise owl once told me…" is stamped in the upper interior, aligned with the top of the lowered front cover. The owl in appropriately perched at the top of the front cover, as if to keep an eye on everything!
……………………………………………………………………………………..
The owl easily pulls out, revealing a special keepsake bookmark and inspirational phrase, finishing the sentiment from the card interior "a wise owl once told me…" with "You’re writing the story of your life one moment at a time".
……………………………………………………………………………
The front cover was easily made into a pocket to hold this adorably useful bookmark. The patterned cardstock was just adhered to the cover of the vintage cream card at the three edges, leaving the top portion & center open. The depth of the pocket is perfect depth for the length of the bookmark and the quote.
……………………………………………………………………………..
I have found myself doing this new little ribbon detail a lot lately. I just wrap the ribbon around an extra time and adhere the end to the front, trimming it into a nice neat *V*. A small brad, or oin this case button, look right at home next to this accent. You should try it! It’s simple and fun!
…………………………………………………………………………………..
What kind of *Bookmark Pocket Card* can you make today with your existing stamps? Who would you give it to? I challenge you to play around today and see what you come up with! Feel free to post your links here so I can see how you reinterpret it!

Stop Already! Just Stop! I saw the quilt set and thought “Oh, I don’t quilt anymore, who wants a country set anyhow?” Then I saw what you created with it and I’ll have to get it.
Now the owls?! How did you know that my MIL collects owls? I’ll have to get this set, too.
I don’t know if I should tell you my kids adore penguins.
I had to break last months PTI order up so I could order twice. (And not pay for it all at once.) Guess I just have to work harder and make more money. I am like a junkie supporting an addiction here.

Wow. Just when I thought I had enough OWLS in my collecction. I love the idea of “building” my own. SheesH! The possibilities here. Halloween, Yes, Christmas owl. Wouldn’t he just be a cutie matched up with the branch from Out on a Limb. And chocolate ribbon, paper, anything seals the deal. Uh oh! Lisa 🙂
