As I sat down to work with our new Father Knows Best Collection. I started taking note of ways I use patterned. I found that I like to use little pieces. That is one of the reasons I enjoy having our 6×6 card maker’s scale available in all our patterns. For today’s post I put together a collection of my top five sketches using paper pieces.
Download paper_pieces_sketches.pdf
Sitting down with these sketches, a pack of our cut & scored white cards and a 6×6 pad of patterned paper (and a few spools of ribbon for good measure!) will bring you a stack of cards in only a matter of minutes! I love keeping a huge stack of the pre-scored cards handy. I almost always use white card bases and it is so much quicker to just grab these rather than stopping to cut & score yourself.
All of these sketches are super easy to do. This first one uses a block that measures 2.75 x 2.25 inches. The easiest thing to do is cut a piece of cardstock according to your block dimensions and then just start covering it with random widths of patterned paper. I like to leave each strip a little long so I can go back and trim them all perfectly even at the end. This sketch uses a square card measuring 4.25 x 4.25, but you could also leave it as a standard size.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………
One thing that I love about these types of projects is that they can change their look and style by just using different colors and patterns mixed together. With all of my versions today I was looking for more of a masculine feel.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
This sketch is super fun too. The Paper Pieces Block measures 4.25 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall. (This is your standard card size of 4.25 x 5.5 inches.)You could make your strips of patterned paper cover the block going either horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
The contrast of the horizontal ribbons and vertical paper strips is visually balanced and appealing.
……………………………………………………………………………………………….
This sketch uses the same type of strip as sketch 2, just flipped around so it is running vertically rather than horizontally. This Paper Pieces Block measures 1.5 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………
All of the widths of ribbon that we carry accommodate the Word Window Punch from SU! beautifully when adding sentiments.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
One of the things I like so much about this sketch is that it uses such a large block. The block measures 4.5 x 3.25 inches. The strips become highlighted by a nice even frame of white.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………
Because the block is so substantial, it really gives you the opportunity to use nice wide strips and showcase the patterned paper a bit more.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………
This last sketch doesn’t utilize a block, but rather three small strips attached directly to the card. Each strip having a different width. (I have listed the widths beside each strip for you here.)
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………
I always like to add a bit of texture with simple cards like these, so I added the strip of ribbon at the top rather than using paper.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………..
………………………………………………………………………………………….
One thing that I just LOVE to do with our satin ribbons is use the back. It is really pretty, and the texture is more appropriate for masculine cards. I also like to layer our ribbons. In several of the above projects I layered the satin on top of the grosgrain.

Thanks for the Sketches Nichole!
These are always helpful when you lack mojo! I have so many scrap pieces of paper these sketches will be the PERFECT reason to use some up!
Thanks again,
~Monica~
I always put my sketches in a file on my computer or save as a picture on my computer and save them for a brain block day! You never know when you are going to need that little extra inspiration!
I love the idea of making simple cards and you can change the paper to make them girly or not. I also like this paper because I think it will be fun to paper piece of shapes with it.
Thanks, Jodi
Thanks for these great sketches. What a great way to use up all of your scraps! THese are especially nice if you need to make a quick card.
I think that a big batch of masculine cards is in order with Father’s Day and several male birthdays coming up around here! Love the paper!
I plan to finally build up my stash! It’s in dire need of masculine cards right now.
Love the paper and the new colors!
Oh, yeah…Father’s day is coming up and I always have use for a masculine birthday card. I love the paper, Nichole, it’s just beautiful. 🙂
I am always looking for simple layouts, and also ways to use all my patterned paper and ribbon! Thanks for the chance to win!
I’m going to use the sketches for simple, classy 8.5 x 11 scrapbook pages. You could easily use the piecing/block technique and the 6 x 6 pad to make stunning scrapbook pages.
I save all the sketches to my computer and use them when I’m not feeling my own creativity. Your sketches are great! I can’t wait to get my hands on the patterned paper and play!
Well…I usually save the sketches to my sketches/inspiration folder on my computer and when I am in need of one, I go through that folder to see if any fit the card theme I am trying to make.
I wonder what these cards would look like if the pieces were on the colored CS from the new collection instead of white and then use a white ribbon or layers like you used. Off to try on photoshop.
These cards are great. I love ideas to use up scraps! This paper is really beautiful. I cant wait to see in person and try out those sketches! Thanks Nicole.
I love sketches! I print them out and have them in a 3 ring binder! These simple ones will make great cards for my mom – I am working to make her 100 cards for mothers day. If I finish those I am going to make my mother in law 100 also!
I save sketches on my computer. A stamper can’t have too many sketches handy.
Oh fun! I have a bunch of scraps that I can’t bear to part with but they’re so small. I cant wait to get started on some of these sketches and try them out! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome sketches. I plan to use them with my scraps. And I plan to make more scraps by cutting up my larger sheets for these projects. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for the contest!
I’m embarassed to say that I have never arranged printed paper like this. What a wonderful and easy way to make a card. Now that you have done the hard work for me by providing wonderfully coodinated papers….all I needed was the page sketches and I’m off. Thank you!!!
I love the simplicity of these cards. I will definitely be making some of these for my own personal stash as well as make some gift sets for some friends. Thanks for the great, easy ideas!
These are perfect for masculine cards… which I have a hard time with. I love the colors and the patterned paper!
I would make up all the cards and leave the sentiments off so I could have cards readily available when I’m in a pinch and I don’t have time to make one. I could quick add a sentiment and done…Love that!
WoW these sketches are fab! I have (like many of us I guess :-/) lots and lots of scraps of beautiful paper which I cant bear to throw away – adding them to a card however would be a pleasure 🙂
I am off to make a set of notelets
Thank you for the inspiration
I have saved your sketches on my computer, printed out a copy for a file of sketches I keep handy, and I plan to use lots of my scraps of patterned paper. It would be fun to make a set of 4 cards with each sketch and give them as a gift.
I have difficulty deciding what to do with pattern paper other than just using it as a background. I bought several metal lunch boxes to alter and wanted to do simple cards and envelopes to put inside as gifts. These templates will give me the confidence to dig out the paper and get started. Thanks so much for sharing these with us. Ann
Since I have 4 kids and not a lot of time, I would love to be able to just sit for one night and make up a bunch of cards for those “I really need a card and I have to leave in 2 minuets” times. I have just discovered how much easier it is to make several cards at once instead of what I used to do and drag everything out for one card:)

I love that these are so versitile. You can make them for any occasion. I love how they showcase all of the different, wonderful pattern papers you offer. I can’t wait to see more …
Ooooo boy, what WON’T I do with those sketches!!?? 🙂 I’m definately going to utilize my Everyday Blessings and Pink Patterns scraps and whip up some Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards.
These would be perfect for making up a bunch of cards for my mom to share with the residents at the Assisted Living facility where she works. They love getting the free cards, and it gives me a good reason to make more cards and buy more supplies. 😉
Just lovely! These are great for masculine cards!
WOW Nichole!!! What beautiful paper!! I love the sketches you shared, I think they are a great use for scraps. I usually don’t know what to do with them and I toss them *gasp*!! Thanks so much for all of your wonderful inspiration!!!

If I was lucky enough to win this beautiful Summer Sunrise paper pack, I’d make cards galore! I am loving the orange!! It would also be cute in a girls scrapbook. Thanks for the awsome chance! I may have to visit the PTI site and make a purchase….

Thanks Nicole!! These are great ideas for Father’s Day. The Papertrey patterned paper is so perfect for cards because of the small designs on it. Love it!! Melissa
I always save all of my little scraps. These sketch cards will be great to make a stack of cards to have on hand for just when I need them. And to use up my little scraps which I just can’t throw away! Thanks!
Beautiful as always, Nichole! I can’t wait to try the sketches. I love clean and simple cards as well as detailed ones, but it can sometimes be more difficult to make beautiful simple cards. Love your sketches, though, and how your cards turned out! I am definitely printing out the pdf. Thanks for sharing it!
I am hoping to make up several masculie cards at once, and this the perfect way to do it! I love having the sketch ideas as well. Thanks for offering the prizes and for the fun countdown!!
These sketches are just perfect for those times when you are in a hurry or your creative juices are barely trickling along! I plan to save them and utilize them to the fullest. I really love this month’s paper colors.
I just made a stack of cards using the Pink Patterns and Everyday Blessings papers, and, of course, I have a lot of pieces left over. Now, I can make another stack using your sketches and my leftovers! I love it!
Um… I plan to make cards! LOTS of cards – sweet cards, simple cards, funny cards. CARDS, CARDS, CARDS! Okay, so I’m not a card maker, but this kit might convert me. Looking at the sketches, I thought “Yeah. I could do this!”. Love the simplicity! And who doesn’t use cards?
I love the new yummy colors. Keep them coming! The sketches will be so helpful to make sets of cards for friends for the holidays. Thanks for sharing them!
These will work for all sorts of things! I’m not sure where to begin! I love the simplicity of the designs. The new paper is fabulous! I can’t wait to order! Thanks for sharing! Another great release I’m sure! 😉
I have been loving your paper packs. I know it will match and they are just the right size for cards – you’ve given me a lot of great ideas for the scraps and I plan on making some simple spring cards now that we’ve finally got good weather!
I think I will make some cards from these sketches in different themes. Post them on my blog and link back to this post so even more people can share in this fun! 🙂 I really love this color combo and this set of patterned papers. Is that brown that I am seeing as a hilight color?
Love these sketches! I too always have bits of PP in my scrap pile. I am going to make some Mother’s Day cards right now! Thanks muchly, love all your stuff. Will definitely order the new Fathers Know Best set and some paper when it is released.
Thank you so much for the sketches! I printed them and put them into my folder with all of my PTI ideas so I can refer them often. Amazing!
Wow! These are beautiful! I usually hoard patterned paper so I was thrilled to see examples on how to use these! If I win, I would make up a bunch of these cards to have on hand plus use them to give away as card sets to my relatives! If I had leftovers afterward, I’d go back to hoarding paper :-)!
These sketches are great! I would probably use these for card sets that I would give away as gifts. I love how simple they were and how great they look.
Great sketches! I will use them when my “mojo” disappears or when I need a simple card I love using your pattern papers together! Keep up the good work!
I plan on making a card set as a gift for my ex-mother in law! the are simple but elegant at the same time! and it will help me use up some paperscraps that I have been saving!
I am excited to get these sketches so I can use up some of my scraps. I can’t bear to throw them out. Your examples from the new ‘goods’ are awesome.
I plan to use up the many many scraps of paper that I save to use “one day”. Thanks for the awesome ideas on how to do just that!
I love your samples & I love the new colors this month! I mass producce my cards & give them in packages as gifts. I think I will take you good ideas and make some easy but gorgeous cards!
OMG…I would make tons of card sets as gifts and things. Maybe with monograms. Those sketches will make tons of lovely card sets. Thanks, Nicole!
I totally agree with the poster right above me….with lots of kids and not too much time, its nice to have sketches on hand that you can mass produce with. These are lovely, as always, Nichole.
I love that these colors can be masculine. i would use them to make cards and various items for a basket i am doing as a charity raffle fundraiser.
I am going to save the sketches and then I am going to make some cards to take to a friend’s flower shop to sell!! She has graciously allowed me to sell my cards in her shop!!!! I am sOOOOOOO excited!
I love using DP squares, in all different patterns and colours, and create almost what appears to be a “quilt”. But no, I don’t sew on my cards ….. YET 🙂
I also print off all your sketches, patterns, ideas, and have them in a book that I refer to frequently ~ love the new papers =)
Great sketches Nichole..thanks for sharing!! I love cutting up the designs in the patterned paper..it just seems to add depth to cards..Can’t wait to try out this new set!!
Thank you SO much for these sketches. You have absolutely perfect timing! I need some quick cards for friends at Scrap Etc. to sign for those who couldn’t make it.
I love to use the papers rather than background stamps for great flavor in my cards.
It’s a good life!
Terri E.
Those colors look good enough to eat! I am going to sit down and whip up a few of each layout and put them in a pretty paper purse for a future b-day present. Thanks Nichole, you never disappoint.
Terrific ideas!
I can use up my little bits and create a card with visual punch!
Thanks!
These sketches would be great ways to use up patterned paper that I can’t throw away. The would also make a nice gift set to someone.
I adore simple, easy, quick cards that are stylish and these sketches will help me make them!
I am a clean and simple type card maker so I will save these sketches and can make sets of note cards as gifts. These are some new sketches for me to add to the ones I have been making. Thanks so much for the ideas and a chance to win.
I have a very difficult time staying “simple” so I plan to use these sketches as inspiration to remind myself that while blinged up cards are beautiful, there is a peaceful, calm and beautiful feeling found in the elegance of simplicity.
My boss is a man and I’m always looking for ideas for small gifts for him. I know he sends out cards to his employees and I thought a set of cards like your examples would be appropriate for me to give to him.
Most definately build up my stash!! I am a Piano Teacher and I recieve a lot of gifts. I am forever making Thank You’s at the last minute. I also belong to a Garden Club and I donate cards to area Nursing Homes…..Oh…….having cards ready to “piece” together REALLY works for me!!
Thank you for the Inspiration!!
Hugs,
Vicky~~

I would also like to make cards w/o the sentiments attached. Quick when I need a card NOW! Thanks…
I also love the simplicity of these sketches for quick cards. I think I will make a bunch of these to have ready on hand!
Elena Lin
I love to use all my pieces also. I like to finish up a sheet and even use the tiny pieces on 3X3 or I take a quarter sheet and fold it in half to make a mini card for a package or a little note to include with a gift or RAK. I really do use almost all of it. Thanks for a chance to win. Love the sketches and will have to try some with some pieces. I love the pattern on the Father Knows Best label. As I mentioned before this would be great in a paper pack of those patterns. So versatile. 🙂
How easy that is to make a fast card and the ribbons are so bright and cheerful. Thank you for sharing!!
I am starting a sketch file on my computer so I will add these Also, I keep some sketches around my scrap table for motivaton. I also bought some coasters and these maybe great supplies for a mini album.
I also keep sketches in a file on my PC, backed up by a printed copy in a ring binder. Now I off to try layering ribbon. 🙂
I love the simple look of these cards and the fact that they can be made quickly! What a great way to utilize scraps of paper as well! This page has already been added to my favorites. As always, you are amazing!
Fabulous sketches, thanks so much! I am going to print them out and put them on the top of the pile of sketches on my desk…then hopefully after we get home from the school carnival tonight my kids will be tuckered out, go to bed early, and let mama stamp! 🙂
Wonderful sketches, Nichole. I’m still new to stamping and papercrafting so the more sketches I have to work with the better. I would use these and the new paper, ink, stamps, and ribbon to make cards to send down to the soldiers in my husband’s unit in Iraq. They can’t get any good cards there, so any cards I can send them are always appreciated.
Oh my….I love your stuff! I definitely love to try these sketches and it is perfect for simple card. Thank you Nichole!!!
Great sketches! I have a birthday card that needs to be done by Tuesday evening.
So why aren’t I just doing it now? Well, I’m supposed to be working at a rummage sale today (headed there after this) and tomorrow. Work on Monday, catch up with everything I haven’t done this past week and an album I’m behind on and maybe save a couple of piles of paper sitting on my desk waiting to fall over and make the birthday card somewhere in between….
As always, you come up with the greatest inspirations. Thanks! I can’t wait to get a hold of the paper and use the sketches. I’m loving all of the sneak peeks.
First, let me say, I am a HUGE Papertrey Ink fan! I LOVE your products and will return time and time again to add to my collection. I can’t wait for this month’s release! As for the prize package, I would use it to make several cards for my grandma, who will be 97 on June 1st. She can’t get out much, so she loves to send cards to people every day. And I’m sure I’d make a set for myself, too! Thanks for the opportunity to win, and for all the BEAUTIFUL products you provide for our crafting pleasure.
This is my favorite way to stamp. A pile of paper, white cards and a stamp set however, my creativity always gets stuck so it still takes me FOREVER to come up with any ideas. This year I wanted to make card gift sets for all of my sisters and SIL’s (total of 12). I think these paper piece sketches will be perfect to give me great cards FAST, since i have a huge family and not a lot of time on my hands. My creativity always needs a good push, and these sketches are just that!
I love these new colors and the patterns! I will definitely be using these to make some awesome Spring cards for people! I love all the sketches and can’t wait to make some of these cards! Thank you Nichole for being awesome as usual!

Thank you so much for the sketches! They’re wonderful.
What am I going to do with them? Make cards to send as RAK’s to friends and family (and some I don’t know).
I also love that I can use up the scraps that I have that I just can’t seem to get rid of.
Thank you for everything!
Thank you for the great sketches! I plan on using them for card making inspiration, and also for scrapbook pages! Easy to do because they are so versatile.
I love to put tags on posts in my Google Reader, one of which is “card sketches” so I can go back later when I need the inspiration. (I use this tag frequently!)
Gosh I just love your projects! I would love to take your sketches and the supplies and sit down and just make a bunch of cards to have on hand. Your sketches make it so easy!
I usually try to have a stash of cards on hand, but these will be nice for when I need a card in a hurry or don’t quite have the appropriate one on hand. I, like many others, have a lot of scraps to use and this is the perfect way to use every little piece that I just can’t bear to throw away. Thanks for sharing the sketches!
I just LOVE this idea! Thanks for sharing it with us. I plan on making these cards with the new pink patterns that came out in March. I have not had a chance to use them yet and this will be a PERFECT way! -Kim
I enjoy making card sets for my children’s teachers as presents. These would be great!
We have an auction every year to raise money for our local Hospice house. We choose a color representing the type of cancer someone we loved has suffered with or died from. I would love to use these to make up a set of cards to donate to the auction. Win or lose this set, I’m definitely going to pick up a few colors ways to make some sets for the auction. Thanks for the ideas!
I just recently started looking at sketches for inspiration and what a better person to start with than you! I love the simplicity of the card but it really turns out beautifully. Thanks!
I love sketches – they get me going quickly. I need to build up my supply of thank you’s, birthdays, and all occasion cards. These sketches will get me off to a great start.

Your sketches will (hopefully) help me stop hoarding all my beautiful paper. Thanks for sharing so much with all of us, Nichole! Can’t wait for the release again…
These sketches are perfect for making those quick “Ooops, I forgot to make a card” cards. You know, when you need one 5 minutes before heading out the door – LOL!

Great sketches and love the cards you came up with using the new papers can’t wait to try these with some of the scraps of patterned papaer that I’m always saving. Can’t bare to throw it out.
I have a ton of guys friends so these paper will be perfect for them!!! hopefully they’ll appreciate it as much as I do!
I really like the paper piece sketches because I always have scrap pieces of paper that I save and then never use. These give me great ideas that I could quickly put together to send Father’s Day cards out to three of my cousins who became fathers for the first time this year!

Ohhhh!! I can’t wait to sit and play with the very simple layouts. I have lots of patterned paper that I never quite know what to do with, so this will be perfect. Thanks, Nichole!
Thank you for sharing these layouts. This is a great way to use up scraps. I am trying to get into the habit of making mutiple cards at one sitting, and it is more efficient.
Thanks so much Nicole for these prizes. I hope I win…though seems like I never do! I don’t make much masculine cards but I will now! lol
I’d like to make a set of note cards for gifts, maybe with a bunch of sentiments stamped and punched out, with a dimensional on the back. That way, the recipient could choose how she wanted to use the cards.
Thanks, Nichole!
I love to make sets of cards for my grandmother’s. They both send out so many cards and love to send out my handmade creations! Your sketches would be perfect for a Mother’s Day gift for them!
I love these sketches because I always have designer papers and need new ideas. I will try these sketches with my crate paper avenue papers. Thanks for sharing your great talent.
Wow, thanks so much for sharing these sketches. I’m going to use them to make some thank you cards to give as part of a wedding gift. They’re simple, can be elegant, and easy to make a few. Thanks so much!
Great sketches for quick and easy cards! I also Love the 6 X 6 papers! I will get going and stockpile a batch!
TFS!
I love the simple sketches. I will use them when I need to make some masculine cards.
Finally a fathers day masculine set, thank you, the sketches are very appropriate for manly cards. Thanks
What fantastic ideas you have given me. I have always had problems when it comes to using patterned paper. And I have so much of it. I think I will try each of these sketches and use them to give a box of cards to my sister so she can use them. Thanks for putting this together for us.
Cheryl Sims
I plan to finally put together a sketch notebook. All of the talented ladies that create cards using your stamp sets really have great ideas – and your sketches are awesome! I am very inspired!!!

Sara
I love sketches like these because I’m not very creative. The cards you showed in this post are wonderful because they are elegant, yet simple to make – and they can work for a man or a woman. I love making cards like that!
I would definately use them for a day when I need to make something quick and simple. I have all sorts of different papers and these would be great to make up in a card set to give as a gift. You could also add a simple flower or some bling and dress them up too! I can’t wait for the new sets to come out. I have a family of men so I am always looking for a great masculine set, with alot of versatility.
I also love to sew. This type of paper pack allows me to make a quilted card with paper pieces. Love the patterned paper. Thanks for sharing these elegant yet simple designs.
Dawn B
This would make it so easy to create some QUICK cards, when not a lot of us have a lot of time. All of the sketches are simple but creative. Another job well done.
Ooh I love sketches. I think some scrap DP is calling to be used up for some of these!
I always love sketches…I’ve got PLENTY of birthdays coming up this month, and this gives me a great springboard to start me off! I just LOOOVE the colors you are offering this month!!! Awesome, as alwyas Nichole!!!
So glad you explained why the ribbon looked different; I was wondering if the new colors were coming in a new style too 🙂 As for the paper pieces, these sketches would be great for making notecard sets in the same colors with different pattern variations. They would coordinate great, while each card would be just a litle bit different. Very nice idea!3
These are so pretty. I really love the colors and patterns. Very nice.
These sketches would be great to make a gift set of cards really easily. Even for a fellow stamper friend you could print these off and assemble in a little “all you need” set to make some cards. (Sketches, paper, ribbon, cards and envelopes in an altered cigar box would be uber cute!)
These cards inspire me to think about other combos that would create simple card layouts. Thanks for sharing them and for inspiring us
Oh my, I would finally get 20 cards done so I can just ‘grab and mail’ for a change.
Thanks for the sketches
These paper pieces are beautiful! Love, love, love the colors. I would use them to make cards up ahead for various occasions, since they lend themselves so easily to all types of occasions.
I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE ALL OF THE NEW STAMPS AND THE NEW COLORS. I am loving the sneek peek of the new pattern papers. Ouch….my budget just goes away when I see the new sets and paper and inks. Keep up the good works.
I love the simplicity of your cards and the sketches provide great inspiration and versatility! 🙂 Can’t wait to buy all the new products!
Thank you for the great sketches! They’re such an inspiration! I have lots of little pieces of patterned paper that i don’t know what to do with them. The ladies’ group at church recently asked me to make some cards for them to raise money for missions and these sketches would be perfect!
I don’t know yet but they are really cool!
LOVIN’ the simple sketches! i think that sometimes we all forget that SIMPLE IS BETTER! gotta go try some of my own… now that you’ve inspired me! 🙂

Thanks for the sketches! They are terrific for making several simple cards in a short timeframe.
I can’t wait to make some birthday cards using them. I never seem to have enough of those!
Thanks for the sketches!! I love using these as a jumping off point when I’m making cards.
These are great– I plan on using them for those quickie- in a pinch moments. I also think they will be great for masculine cards!!
Thanks for these
Oh, I love these simple, clean designs and will use the templates to make easy, masculine cards for the troops to use.
I love the clean simple lines of these cards, fantastic…
AS A PAPERCRAFTER, I AM FOCUSED ON MY SCRAPBOOKING RIGHT NOW. I JUST KNOW I CAN TURN THESE LAYOUTS INTO PAGES. THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION NICHOLE!
I will surely use these for all the wonderful males in my life. Another beautiful creation Nicole. I can’t wait til the 15th!!!
Thanks so much for the sketches, I am new to card making so they will be very helpful in my card making. I like the simple style. I’m going to make some cards for my Mom. I just recieved my first order from PaperTrey: stamp sets, patterned paper, ink, cardsock, and ribbon in the Aqua Mist and Spring Moss… it came so quick and packaged so nicely! I love it all. The new colors are so yummy, this is all very addictive so it would be nice to win the set!
I plan to use these sketches! My kids want to have a card making day and they would be great!
I love to have sketches when I need a quick idea to get something done. I will be saving these to refer to. I like being able to use so many scraps of paper, ones I never throw away, but never knew what to do with them. Thanks!
I forgot to add that I love these sketches…very clever! they seem like they don’t require that much time. I love quickies!!!
The sketches are great and can be used for just about any occasion. I’m keeping ’em on file for future reference!
I have started to save card sketches in a file on my computer to help inspire me and cause me to grow in my card making skills. Your blog has certainly inspired and changed the way I think in a wonderful way.
I love using card sketches and these will be added to my growing collection of them. Thanks for sharing them with us all!! I plan to use them to make a set of cards for a Mother’s Day gift. I’ll make a nice belly band for the clear card boxes I bought from PTI a couple of months ago. This will make a really nice gift idea!
these sketches are going to be great. I will be able to make classy simple cards and use up a lot of scrap paper.
I absolutely love to use patterned paper on chipboard accents, esp. alphabet letters for scrapbook pages. I’d like to try using your paperpiecing technique to use multiple patterns on one large chipboard piece. Amy
I love sketches and these are so simple, yet nice to alter and use in different ways.
I love these sketches! I have so many scraps of paper that this will be perfect for! How quick and easy to make up a bunch of cards to have on hand. I love this time of the month!
Carla D.

I am making a box of assorted cards for 2 different weddings this summer so I need some quick & easy cards to add to the boxes. It is always great to get some ideas that work for masculine cards as I need to put some of those in each box!
Love the new colors!! So pretty!!
wow – awesome…you never cease to amaze me!!!
the sketches are perfect for creating “card bundles” to give away as gifts to friends/family!!
Hi Nichole! I’m going to use these sketches for 4th of July cards this year. Red white and blue would be pretty, don’t you think? And, you can never start too early when you have to send out a bunch.
Thanks for the opporunity to win!
Lyndsay
FIrst I am going to print them into my sketch book to keep as inspiration for ever and ever. These are great for using up the scraps of paper that you just cant stand to throw away! Thanks -Molly B
These are all fab sketches! Well, my PLAN is to make a little book/notepad, decorate it and jot down all the awesome sketches I come across. Thanks for the chance!
Great sketches! I like the one using the largest amount of patterned paper best as I just love patterned paper. This month’s colors and designs are fantastic and I can see endless possibilities for using them. You always do such a great job selecting colors. I think my all time favorite is Spring Moss! I made a birthday card this past week for one of the doctors I work for and I showed it to several people before giving it to him. Everyone of them commented first on how much they loved the colors–of course, Spring Moss & Aqua Mist! Will love playing with this month’s selections–probably making a set of note cards first.
I think the idea of making up cards ahead of time is awesome. And someone else mentioned that they would leave off the sentiments until each card was needed and then add the appropriate sentiment. So pick me.
-*Linda*-
I think these would be great to make sets as gifts! They match but aren’t exactly the same and can use any sentiment! Thanks!
I am for sure a step away from downloading your sketches they are wonderful! I always save and organize my scraps so now it is time to put some to use!
Great sketches – these will perfect to do up a bunch of all occassion cards so I have a bunch on hand!!!
What a simple idea and makes it so easy to make a beautiful card!!! Thanks for sharing your method.
Well… just the inspiration I need to make a stash of cards. Perhaps I’ll make my MIL or mom a pile of cards for Mother’s Day. My mother never sends anything BUT my homemade cards(and is always requesting more) while my MIL saves all that I give her and puts them in her “idea file”. Here’s to productivity!
Many thanks,
Michelle
I love these new colors. So fun and fresh. I am part of a card swap group and I think these sketches will really help motivate me to produce some unique cards that will work for everyone. These sketches are so classy!
I love sketches. These are now the newest additions to my collection of sketches for both cards and scrapbook pages which I keep in a binder.
Great new colors! That will work nice with the wedding and graduation season here.
Love the sketches. The colors of this collection are gorgeous yet masculine. I love the simplicity and class of the designs. I plan on making oodles of simple and classy cards! 😉
What a great selection of sketches for when my mojo has gone West – and I just love the new patterned papers 🙂
Thanks soooo much for the sketches. I was asked to make a set of cards for our church to use. You just made my job very easy!
Your cards are so clean and beautiful.
They are perfect for those little pieces you have left over. Very very classy.
I love sketches just to help me get a jump start on creativity. Sometimes it’s nice to have a good basic card layout you can go back to time and again for a quick card.
Thanks for the inspiration Nichole! I am going to use the sketches to make some cards to add to my stash. These sketches are great because you can use up some paper scraps!
Nicole, I love ideas for the men in my life….two sons and two grandsons. Your sketches will enable me to use every inch of my patterned paper Thanks.
I amm loving the PP and the ribbon. Those colors are just so yummy!! And what fun sketches. I love to do simple cards with pp and ribbons!!
noelani
I think it is a great idea to have a bunch of cards on hand ready to go. I think your sketches will come in very handy to use up some patterned paper. I really am liking your new pp. Thanks for sharing.
This is gorgeous! These sketches are great for using any paper with, not to mention the wonderful paper that is new this month. These would make great sketches for card sets to give as gifts.
I plan on using the paper pieces templates to make a stack of cards for my single brother. He likes clean and simple lines so these would be great for him……and then we all stand a chance at getting a card in the mail from him!!!
I love the new papers and colors – I have several guy birthdays coming up in my family and these will be great!
i think i will try some zigzag stitching over your strips of patterned paper. cool.
WOW what an awesome give away! I love these colors, they will make FAB cards!
Wow thanks for the sketches, I’m always looking for great sketches! These will be nice to make quick cards for any occation.
Thanks for the sketches! I’m thinking that they would work great for some simple and easy thank you cards!
Thanks for the wonderful ideas. I am making my mom a basket of cards for all occasions for mom’s day. She will love it. Your ideas have given me some more quick, easy and cute ideas.
I love the simplicity of these sketches. Quick and simple cards are perfect for masculine cards. Thanks for the great ideas on how to use all my scraps of patterned paper too!
The sketches are great ways to use up all the pattern paper. Thanks for the ideas.
I LOVE the idea of using more than one patterned paper on a card (a bad habit of mine) and what a great way to use up scraps. I definitely will use these to whip up some quick cards!!
Beautiful paper. I love how the sketches give you the opportunity to use most if not all of the different papers and patterns. Can’t wait for this month’s release!!
I’d like to use these paper pieces sketches for Mother’s Day cards. My cards usually take a couple of hours to do and I’ve been looking for some simpler card sketches. Thanks for the sketches Nicole! The new patterned paper is beautiful!
Wow, I have tons of pieces of pattern paper. I would have never thought to try making a block out of them. This really adds dimension and versatility.
Great ideas on the ribbon as well!
I need to make a bunch of thank you notes for my daughter’s birthday party. What a quick and nice looking way to get that job accomplished. Thanks!
Such easy sketches (and great ideas for the scraps of patterned paper that we all hoard!) to truly create some quick cards to SEND! I think I may just crank out a few myself to have on hand for thank you-s and just because-s! 🙂 Looking forward to the next big release! Thanks!
I plan to make a stack of cards to have on hand. I love the simplicity of the designs, the color combinations are endless. Thanks for the great ideas!!
I am addicted to patterned paper and cannot make a project without it!!!! I save sketchs in a file on my computer and browse when I need a little push. Thanks for the chance to win!
Last year I joined in a Pink Card Drive – making cards for women in hospital with breast cancer. Your templates would be perfect to use for this year’s effort……I think I would get a lot more cards done using them!
Lyn
I always struggle with cards for guys, these sketches are great masculine cards! Simple=Classic in my book…I love them!
I will probably print out your sketches and let them sit on my craft table for a few months to let them get good and buried. Most likely I will forget about them until I must finish a huge project and I have to dig through my piles to locate an obscure craft item. I will then “find” the sketches, sit down and whip out a dozen cards and wonder why I didn’t do this months ago. Such is my life.
I think it would be a great chance to make a stash of cards for several occasions. I could use different sentiments and then use the everyday blessings and pink patterned paper to make 3 different color variations of the same stash!
Great sketches, thanks.
Victoria
I think that sometimes I get so carried away in trying to make the card so involved and pretty, that it’s nice to see some sketches in which simplicity is the key. I can’t wait to try these sketches for myself!! Thanks so much for sharing them!
I’d definitely like to use your patterned paper along with your sketches for some clean simple cards. In reality I’ll probably just buy the paper but never get the cards made. I love what you create and check your blog daily.
Great sketches, I plan on using them for last minute cards also as I don’t scrapbook as often as I have to make cards.
Thanks so much for these sketches! I’m in need of some birthday cards for both genders and this looks like a fabulous place to start. Thanks so much also for this generous giveaway!
I always tend to overcomplicate my cards, and these sketches remind me I don’t need to! I will save these layouts until I get my new cardstock, then reference them and make myself a sample for future use. I love these! You are so amazingly inspiring!
This paper is beautiful and I am seeing not only masculine cards but cards for the late summer and early fall. These papers are beautiful! And the ribbons? To die for!!!
First let me say, the new colours are so bright and cheery. You couldn’t have picked better colours to help chase away the weather we’ve all had this past winter and usher in a sunny spring. I work part-time at our local Senior Center and many of the members are people who come south to spend their winters in Florida. I’ve made new friends and have friends who have come for several years. Each year after they return home I send an “I miss you” card. If I am lucky enough win the packet I will use it for this purpose along with the always creative layouts. (if i don’t win.. well.. I’ll buy the items and do it anyway.. *smiles*)
Judith..
How awesome! I would love to use the new paper to make packs of cards for my friends and family!
How awesome! I would love to use the new paper to make packs of cards for my friends and family!
Thanks for the great ispirationi. I would love to make a set of coordinating cards to give to my daughter’s teachers as end-of-year gifts.
Great sketches…I plan to have them visible when I am designing and making cards to help with the mojo! Thanks for sharing all your great creativity with us!
Love these sketches and the patterned paper. I think they’ll make a nice set of cards for my MIL for Mother’s Day.
Love all the sketches, thanks for sharing. Great cards. Linda
I love having these sketches to use for when my mind is not wanting to have to think up an idea for a card! The new papers are great, and I can’t wait to see the stamps! Thanks so much, Nicole!!
these layouts are so cool, fun & fresh with the new colors! awesome
Thanks for the ideas. I’ll probably make some of the very same cards that you did. I’m always lacking for ideas when it comes to masculine cards.
I love all the sketches you have! I put a copy of all my card sketches in a folder on computer along with the artist’s name and save them for inspiration when I need to make some cards! Thanks for some creative sketches and beautiful examples!
Love these patterns! Perfect for men, woman and children. I would create a bunch of pieced cards using your examples but leave the sentiment off. Then when the need arises for a card I’d add the perfect sentiment to suit the occasion!
I’m probably going to CASE all the cards you’ve done with these templates, of course! You make it look so easy, I just hit myself in the head and said, “Now why didn’t I think of that?” Thanks, Nichole!
I really like these sketches and printed it out to keep handy.
I love the tip to keep pre-cut and scored white cardstock on hand. I also like to use white card bases.
So I plan to make some cards using these sketches to keep on hand!
Thank you for sharing them!
What a great way to use pattern paper. I will try to make some gift card sets for friends!
Thanks for the fun ideas for the cards, Nichole. It’s always great to have an idea or two that will come together fast. And I’m loving the new patterned paper. It has such a fun summery feel to it.
I love making multiple cards and using up all my scraps, I will use your idea and make up many, leave off the sentiment and then I will have cards to grab for any occasion..
Those sketches would certainly shorten my card-making time! Thanks for sharing those wonderful, easy to follow sketches, Nichole!
Your sketches will be a great resource… I find making a pile of cards is a great way to get my creativity flowing…
I love the new paper and colors……I will definately be “reproducing” your sketches!!!
Hope I win!!!
Carol

Sometimes you need a fast and quick card, and these sketches are the perfect answer. A good way to use small pieces of patterned paper. Thanks, Nichole, for sharing the sketches with us!
I love these simple yet elegant plain sketches I will put them to very good use for the two special men in my life (Husband & Father) that have birthdays only 3 days apart.
With these quick and easy sketches, I will make some cards to have on hand for thank yous and birthdays. I like how you can use different patterned paper to make one sketch look totally different as well!
Don’t we all have lots of little scraps of paper! This is a fun project for me to do with my granddaughter,7yrs, not much stamping involved and a nice gift for someone when finished and packaged prettily. Thanks you so much for the ideas you give me.
I work with a lot of guys, so these paper pieces card ideas are great! I can use them for my dad, too! I love all of your fun ideas–they inspire me!
Thank you so much for the sketches!! Heading off to dig out ribbon:). Thanks for the chance to win!!
Tammy
Great sketches – thank you for sharing them, I know that having a quick go to sketch sure helps in putting together quick cards, and quick is the way to go for me.
Today I cleaned out my paper drawers and have lots of scraps, now I have wonderful shetches to use to make beautiful cards.
I plan to do these wonderful cards this weekend. I made a box for Mothers Day and I want to include these. I see the use of your monograms to be perfect on the sentment as just a crips look
Love you sketches Nichole. I would like to make some Father’s Day cards with the paper pieces. Thanks for all the great ideas.
I’ve always used sketches for my scrapbooking. Never really thought about using them for cards too! I’m SO anxious to try some out, simple, yet beautiful! Thanks!
These cards are great! I have SO many scraps that I have been keeping forever! Now I need to actually get them out and try some of these sketches! Thanks Nichole!
Love your cards! I will use the sketches to make masculine cards as well. I have so many men in my life and I feel like I just don’t know how to make more manly cards. Love all your tips and plan on using them!
I’d like to make all of the sketches you have shown. I also like to use patterned paper with my square and circle punches.
These are awesome! I always have small little scraps of paper and never know what to do with them — now I have the perfect thing. I love the simplicity of these cards too. I think sometimes I tend to “over-embellish” a card when I should just leave it more simple!
I love these sketches, so simple, but elegant. I would make a set of these cards to give as “hostess” gifts or presents.
Love the cards and sketches. The colors are so fresh.
Love the cards and sketches. The colors are so fresh.
Nichole,
These sketches are great. What a great way to quickly put something great together or a start to something more. I have just recently started following sketches and they are a great launching point. I plan to use the sketches too simplify and quicken the card making process.
-katie
Love the cards and sketches. The colors are so fresh.
these sketches will keep me in check. cuz i tend to second guess my self and not stick to doing what makes me happy. i am a simple, get it done person. and i get bogged down with all the techniques and embellishments…thank you for the inspiration, once again. i so want your brain!!! >”<
What a neat idea…I love these for getting rid of the mounds of scraps that I can’t bear to throw away! TFS!
As many have noted, these sketches are a great way to use up your scraps! I love the simplicity of the cards too. Quick and easy to make, yet very elegant and trendy. Thanks for the inspiration!!
I definitely need that color for my collection. Very bright and cheery. I would love to try to make those pieced cards for my stash.
Love those sketches! I have so many scraps that I can’t bear to toss out. This way I can clear out my overflowing scrap box without feeling guilty about throwing away such lovely papers. Thanks,
Becky
UMMMM….What will I do with that grand “Paper Pieces” prize package…let me see…every single thing I can think of! I love love love it.
Love your sketches, Nichole! They will be perfect with all of the Papertrey patterned papers and I think it will be a great idea to have some on hand, or to create gift sets for family and friends!!!
What great paper! The patterns and colors are perfect.
Thanks for the ideas.
I think these patterns are nica and generic so a person can make cards for men or women. I keep a drawer with just templates, ideas, and sketches for future reference. Makes the planning part of creating a card easier.
Wow! Great sketches. I am going to take this idea to my retreat next month, and make a stack of cards, ready for sentiments. What a great way to have a card on hand!
Oh my goodness! I know this is probably corny…but when this time of the month creeps up I get giddy with anticipation! Thank you for brightening my day! I am so excited for these new sets. I can’t to try out these paper piecing ideas!
I will totally give these sketches a try. I like the simplicity of the design. Great way to use up your stash of PP. Thanks Cynthia
I often refer to your cards when stumped and need a fresh idea. I will add these to my stash that I keep in a file and in a sketch book that I carry with me in case I get “inspired” while out and about. Thanks for all your great ideas!
The sketches and sets are great. With the end of the school year comming, I am making teacher’s gifts. I like giving something that is different and consumable. So giving the teachers a set of handmade note cards is both unique and useful. The best part is that it is not one of the “world’s greatest teacher” items which they have tons of! Thanks for the wonderful ideas.
Great ideas! I don’t always think to use pieces of patterned paper together to change the look. Can’t wait to try this out.
I love the simple designs – I’ll be making a few cards to keep on hand.
These sketches are a great way to get some cards quickly and easily made. Thanks for sharing them with us!
I’ve been really wanting to make some spring cards and scrap pages. I think the colors are fabulous and remind me of spring daffodils!
Lovely cards, so simple but so elegant. I’m going to use your sketches with the patterned paper from February and March – and I’m going to substitute a paper band instead of the ribbon just to mix things up a bit.
Great way to use scraps and make quick cards. Thanks for sharing!
I would first use them for a bright Father’s day card and then play with other generic cards. The colors are beautiful.
These are definitely keepers and going into my “sketch book.” for future inspiration! thanks, Lisa K in TX
Thank you for sharing the Paper Piece Sketches! Very inspiring for making a gift package of lovely cards! The new April papers do have a handsome masculine flair, yet they seem VERY versatile for a bright SPRING FLING!!! So cheery!
Thanks Nichole, these sketches are a great inspiration. I need to make up some all occasion note cards, and this is the perfect start!
These are a great way to make up a bunch of simple yet beautiful cards — my card box is nearly empty!
I love the simplicity of these cards. I plan to make my sister-in-law a card organizer filled with cards for all occasions, and these simple cards would be great for that project!
Nicole
Sketches are wonderful when you feel you have lost your mojo or can’t think of anything to stamp. Just looking at a sketch can spark some creativity. I keep my sketches in a computer file, and then print them out every so often for my notebook! Thanks for sharing yours!
I plan to use up a bunch of scraps and increase the card stash!
These new papers and colors are beautiful. I would love to use them for fall cards as well as the masculine cards mentioned!
Thank you for the fantastic sketches. I have a hard time using patterned paper, so this is perfect for me. I love the colors this month! I think using the sketches would make a great gift set of cards. My mom doesn’t like to send the cards I make for her because they are so fancy. Simple cards like these are perfect for her. Maybe she’ll actually send these! Thank you for the inspiration!
I make cards for our troops overseas to send back to their friends and family. I am ALWAYS in need of supplies! Thanks for the chance.
I love these sketches. Like others I have a hard time throwing away the smallest of scraps. This will be a great way to put them to use. Thanks for the wonderful ideas!!
I love making gift sets for my sister for her birthday–she’d love these for sure! She always appreciates these homemade gifts11 I’d love to win, but will surely be using your wonderful ideas win or lose! Thanks–Jane
These cards are so simple and elegant! Your sketches are the perfect way to use up all my scraps.
Wow that would be awesome and so easy, Thanks Kathy Hering….
Fab sketches! They will be great for quick cards!
Thanks for the great simple sketches! I have both the previous 6×6 packs, so i’ll have fun playing with those! 🙂
Love your sketches, Nichole! I’m going to start by utilizing your ideas, with the paper pads I already have from Papertrey. Those colors will change the feel of the cards, but it will be a good jumping off point. Then, I’m hoping that your inspiration will get me to make some modifications, using some other papers I have 🙂
I love the simplicity of these sketches. I need a wedding card and these are perfect.
I like to make a sketch I think is worthwhile right away so that it’s fresh in my mind and I don’t forget to do it! I absolutely love this one, so I plan on making 2 birthday cards tomorrow and using this sketch on at least one of them. Since they are going to the same house (father and daughter) I may only make one using this sketch, but who knows!!
Great sketches! I love simple cards…and these layouts are perfectly simple! I have hoards of patterned paper and I usually am a bit affraid to use it on cards…..I plan to use your sketches/ideas to help me use up some of my hoarded paper!
Nichole- It has taken years for me to embrace a simplier style. Many thanks to your inspirational creations. I will most assuredly use these quick sketches for cards for family and friends. Life is busier these days so the new sketches are a “perfect” fit for me. Thanks so much for all you do!
I plan to try every one of the sketches. Looks easy yet so much fun! Thanks for the info.
I love patterned paper and even use my scraps for different techniques such as iris folding, paper weaving and paper pleating. I do love this new collection of papers so I would be very delighted to win it and make some pretty projects with it.
Hi Nichole
I love sketches and save them all to try in the future as soon as I find time for crafting!!
Love your blog!
Hugs
Marcia
Can’t wait to see more of the Father Knows Best set as well as the other new ones.
These card samples were great and have my
fingers itching to start some projets.
Honestly, I am afraid of patterned paper, even though I love it. I love the sketches, and they help me to not be so scared to use it. These patterns are great.
I would make up a bunch of cards, and give them to my MIL so that she quits asking me to make her a random card every week! I do things better when I can mass produce! Thanks for all the great ideas, and fun products.
I love these ideas with the pieces. I always have little pieces left. I keep them, but don’t always know why I am saving them. Thanks for the ideas and more importantly for the beautiful papers and ribbon. I love this site! debbie
I have a file that I keep on my computer for all my inspiration cards, whenever I’m stuck I pull them up. These have definitely already been added.
The timing of this paper is PERFECT!!! i have a dozen Father’s Day cards to make, my father’s Birthday, nephew’s birthday, my ex’s birthday, and several daughter’s friends birthdays!!! All in the next couple of months. I can’t wait to get my hands on this paper!!
I love to give my daughter’s teachers a set of handmade cards to use throughout the year. Your sketches will make the process so quick and easy!
I never have enough cards on hand for various occasions. I’d like to case these sketches and sit down to a quick card making session where I stock up my stash!
I’ll be making up a stash of cards-these sketches are great! Great way to use all of the gorgeous PTI DP!! Thanks again!
I need to make a whole wack (is that a word?) of birthday cards…especially masculine ones. Can’t wait to get the new set!
I plan to head downstairs right now and whip out some cards. It feels like I haven’t stamped in months! I hope I still remember how to do it(wink)!
Thanks so much for sharing and for the wonderful contest!
-Mollie
I make birhtday cards to hand out to everyone in our department each month. I have a hard time figuring out what I should do for the guys. Theses sketches will be great (along with the new stamp sets)! Can’t wait until the 15th.
I love the simplicity of the sketches. I am going to scale them to 3″ cards and will put them in a origami box for Mother’s Day!! :0) (Mom’s favorite color is yellow!)
These sketches are wonderful to play with! That’s what I’m gonna do with them!
🙂
FABULOUS!
What great sketches! I am going to use them to make a coordinating gift set for my hubby’s grandmother. She loves sending out cards, but doesn’t like anything bulky. The Designer Paper definitely cuts down on the bulk, but still allows it to be fun and classy.
I love the colors and simplicity of these cards & sketches. The cards are perfect for ANY occassion & wonderful to keep on hand for when you need a card. I am paper piecing more than I used to, & the papers are perfect for many of those projects.
I’m making up card sets to sell at craft shows to raise money for my sister’s 3-Day Breast Cancer walk. These will be perfect — simple but gorgeous!
I proudly own some PTI stamps and other items – that I would definitely make some beautiful cards with my new Design Paper collection – they are so beautiful!!!
Thank you for the wonderful sketches which I’ll shamelessly case – LOL!!!
These cards are simple and elegant–just what I love. I can make several and just add the sentiments later, as I need them. I also love that they are a good way to use up little bitty scraps, so nothing is wasted. Thanks, Nichole!
I would love to make a giftset for my mother in law. She would absolutely love it.
I just LOVE that these sketches can whip up some cards in a snap! There have been more than 1 occasion where I needed a set of cards to give as a gift the next day or even in a few hours! These sketches would be *perfect* for just such an occasion! Thank you for sharing this!
I love the sketches. I have a binder that I keep them in, so when I need help I just have to check in one place. I also like how you can use up alot of your scraps.
Nicole, you’ve done it again. How can one woman be so creative all the time?!? Do you ever have a “no mojo” moment? I plan to use these sketches to knock out some much neglected card projects that have been on my back burner for a bit. Thanks for the creative boost! Angi
I love sketches! They always give me a jumpstart. I will get a lot of use out of your sketches with the paper pieces. It’s a great way to use some of my scraps, plus I like the look of mixing patterned paper.
I love these pattern papers. They will make great masculine birthday cards. They will also be great for fall cards.
I make cards to send to the military–and this would be wonderful to make quick but beautiful cards to send! I live in Northern Kentucky and certainly wish that you had a store where I could shop in Cincinnati!
I am going to have to give this a try! I have never tried using paper pieces, but the sketches certainly will help get me started. Thanks!
I would use them for Birthday cards, mothers day and even a few holidays…
Thank you for the simple but lovely ideas. I have a scrapbox that is just waiting to be used.
I love simple layouts! So clean and classy. I hope to re-stock my “emergency card stash” with some of these. Thanks for sharing!
There are a lot of men in my family whose birthdays are fast approaching… these colors and printed papers will be perfect for greeting for them.. That’s what I plan to do with my purchases.. Plus Summer Sunrise is very close to my aluma mater colors… gotta include that too.
Thank you for all the sketches and template downloads. It so wonderful and generous to have such a great resource.
I plan to bulk up on birthday cards. I always need them last minute.
~ jess k
What a great idea! I am unable to throw away scraps of patterned paper, so I have plenty of little strips just perfect for these sketches. Thanks to you, I have some terrific things to do with them!
As I have two toddlers, using your paper pieces technique will help me create fast and beautiful cards. I love the new colors. Alexa
Great sketches and ways to use up some scraps…I’m afraid I won’t have scraps of this paper…can I really cut it up!?! lol
LOVE the new colors!
Thanks for the opportunity to win a prize! I would use these items to start on mother’s day and father’s day cards. Having all the coordinated supplies would make it so much easier to get projects completed!
I love the colors! I will buy the CS, and do lots of layering. I think they will make a card with lots of depth!
I am in the process of putting all of my card sketches into a binder so that I have a reference when I need a little push to get going. I really like the simplicity of using paper pieces to make cards and all the possibilities that leads to. Thanks for all your hard work and time you selflessly put into teaching others what you are so gifted at.
I can definitely use up some scraps I have laying around my table and with such simple sketches, I can make some quick cards. Thanks Nichole!
~Crystal M.
I love that everything matches and making a whole bunch of cards in one sitting would be the best!
I’m going to be using these for a couple of masculine cards I’ll be needing real soon! Thanks for the inspiration!
I am a scrapbooker at heart and started dreaming of ways to include these sketches in my most recent book!
I love the great DP PTY has brought out these past two months, and I love yellow! I will keep these templates and use them as quick card ideas. My daughter is always needing birthday cards and raids my card stash often. I’m glad she likes to use them.
Fabulous sketches! I hate throwing away scraps of patterned paper so these sketches will be so great to have to use up my little scraps. I can’t wait till the 15th!
What beautiful masculine cards! I love using patterned paper on my cards and I’m so happy that you have come up with some gorgeous patterns for the men in our lives! Thanks, Nichole!!
I love the way you think! I am “itching” to get into my craft room and put to work the many scraps I have laying around.
I also can’t wait to get this paper!!!
I love the way you think! I am “itching” to get into my craft room and put to work the many scraps I have laying around.
I also can’t wait to get this paper!!!
I’m going to use these sketches to use up some of my stash of patterned paper and make some gift sets. I’m going to zig zag stitch over the seam between each place where two papers meet for some extra visual interest 🙂
I plan to use these as the bases – you’re so full of good ideas!
I’m thinking some of those patterns remind me of ties, so I’m going to make some cards shaped like ties or shirts with ties with the new paper. Of course, I’ll be making some of these awesome simple cards too! I can’t wait to get it!
These sketches are so fun. I would use them by coming back to your blog anytime I needed a simple card with a nice wow factor!
I like the one with the three different strips at the end (not blocked) at the end. I’m going to try that.
What wonderful sketches! I just created a whole bunch of scraps, and this would be a start on using them. I am always looking for simple layout ideas, these are perfect. Love these new colors, too- so cheerful!
I will keep the sketches in my stamp notebook – I carry this notebook with me almost everywhere I go! I’ll be using these new sketches with all of my new patterned paper!!! Thanks for continuing to inspire us. Heather
First, let me just say that I LOVE the sketches. It’s nice just to see clean designs. I’ll be using the sketches for a class–I think my customers would enjoy them! Although, I’ve introduced them all to PTI so they may already be seeing them here on your blog!!
I’ve been on a kick making stationary sets and these are more great layout ideas for super fast sets.
These sketches will be great to use to make a matching set of cards. Thanks!
Using up scraps is so hard for me – I have a whole pile of them. And now with a new baby I don’t have as much time to stamp so these sketches are perfect – quick and easy!
Wow, awesome layouts! I have already printed them off, and they will go into a page protector, and into my notebook. I just love what you do, and look forward to more of these in the future! (Please!) 😀
I would love to make some baby announcements with them!
What a great way to use those smaller 6 x 6 prints! I’ll save this for future reference. The sketches are so good for a male card. Thanks, Nicole!
These will be perfect for male birthday cards and Father’s day cards. I always have trouble when making male cards and these seem so easy and quick to make.
*JUST* printed these sketches – wow! They will go in my sketchbook!
Thanks Nichole!

unfortunately in this economy of hard work and no money at the end of the week (LOL) i watch my pennies carefully! so the ability to see ideas using the “scraps” or leftovers are great! the sketches are perfect when i am pressed for time. thanks!
(love the new colors yummy!)
janice
I’d love to be able to use these sketches, but I’m suck on the couch recovering from foot surgery. I hope I’ll be back on my feet (literally) and stamping really soon!
I would use the cards to thank all of my kids’ teachers for the amazing job that they have done this year. I can’t wait to get my hands on this month’s releases. Thank you for all of the inspiration that you give me.
Oh these are definitely sketches to keep especially for all the quick cards that we always need at the last minute, lol, thanks for these Nicole great inspiration pieces xx
Like many of your blog readers, I have a file of scrap paper and a bag of end cuts of ribbon that I can’t bare to toss out. I use them to accent tags and layer chipboard flowers or letters. Great templates to use with these extra bits and pieces.
Love the colors in this month’s collection. Can’t wait to see the entire reveal and since I have 5 sons and 1 son-in-law, I always need “guy” cards. Thanks so much.
Love the simple sketches! Thank you! They will be perfect for all the Mothers Day and Fathers Day cards I will be making!!
Thanks for the sketches. I have them printed out ready to go in my sketch binder. I’d love to use the paper and your sketches to have a stack of cards made and ready to go – then I wouldn’t always be scrambling to get one done when I needed it – I could just pull it out of my stash. Thanks for the chance to win!
I posted my response in the wrong article so am copying here as well so I have a chance to win.
Nicole, Chances are slim that I would win your gift pack but I wanted to write and let you know how much I love your paper and ribbon product line. I will make a point to purchase each one as they come out. I used Berry Sorbet yesterday for the first time and I love it. The twill is such fine quality, as are all of the ribbons. I am thrilled that your colored paper is equally as beautiful in texture and weight as your white. I have given several pieces of your white paper to my stamping friends to try as I think it is the most wonderful paper I have ever used. I rarely use a plain white for a card base as the papers I have had in the past have been flimsey but now I regularly use your white. I have yet to purchase your matching inks as I have ink coming out of my ears but may have to break down and get all of those as well. Congratulations on such a wonderful product line.
I’m adding the sketches to my stamping notebook and using them to catch up on the spring cardmaking that I need to do! Thanks for the insiration!
I love these ideas…so simple but yet so elegant! Thanks for sharing!
Love everything about the Father Knows Best set! PaperTrey keeps outdoing themselves each month! Keep up the GREAT work!!
I give each person in the coffee group I meet with every Saturday morning a handmade gift at Christmas. This year I plan to make them each a set of cards using these sketches. Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us.
I am soo masculine card challenged- So I would work on a masculine card stash- so I don’t have to go and buy one ;( anymore. I lowered my head in shame!! LOL
Thanks for all of the inspiring samples! I am always looking for ideas for sets of cards that I can put together quickly. I provide my grandmother with cards that she can give for birthdays, etc., and I donate sets of cards to my daughter’s school annual auction. I like to give coordinating card sets to friends for their birthdays, too. I love all the beautiful new patterned papers!
I love sketches when I need to do a quick fabulous card! And it looks like I can use some of my smaller pieces – you know 🙂 the ones you can’t bear to throw away!
Thanks!
As usual your skills in making this craft easier for the average, time restricted “Jane” amazes me. I will definitely save your sketches to help me use all of my great PTI Pattern paper! By the way, I won a guessing contest about your colors…of course I love them more since I was right:)
Wow, I’m not sure at this time what I would do with this, but I’m sure I’d think of something! So pick me pick me! and I’m just in time I see…

I love simple card sketches. They are elegant and work with a wide variety of card themes. I plan on making a bunch of different cards for my brother in law using these sketches. He is in Iraq and has limited access to English cards.
What a fabulous prize package… thank you for the opportunity to win. I know I would immediately make each card to send out greetings to my family for a Sunshiny Spring… what perfect paper for that!!
I love the simple sketches! I will keep these in my sketch folder on my computer. then when I get a chance I print them off and add them to a folder in my scrapbook room. This way I have a hard copy to keep me inspired!
Hi Nichole,
I’m a big fan of sketches…they really help when I’m stuck getting started with a project. I’m in a stamp group with 5 other girls, and we have started using sketches as one of our monthly project ideas. The idea of “paper pieces” is fab, since I hate to throw away my scraps! Thank you!!
I am so addicted to your company. Gotta have it, gotta have. It’s like candy, you want the whole box. These sketches are perfect for making up sets of cards. I alway like to have a box or two made up so I have that emergency gift. Also they make perfect hostess gifts or that special thank you. Keep them comming.
Love it, Love it, Love it.
I love the simplicity of these sketches, I know I will use these a lot, I have 4 father’s day cards to make so these will come in handy.
These sketches would be great if you need to make multiples of one card. I plan to use them to make a set of thank you cards for a friend who is getting married in May. Thank you for the inspiration!
I haven’t seen my dad for years since I’m in the US and he’s in Vietnam. This would be a nice little surprise for him since most of our conversations are via snail mails. yeah, he’s not really fond of the internet yet. But he’ll probably won’t believe that I made these…probably think that they’re store bought! lol
I love the simple sketches and the many ideas that grow from them. I am new to the website and have already started cataloging these sketches so that can go through my box of scraps and begin creating. Thanks for the inspiration.
Nicole, you’re a genius! I keep getting amaze everytime again and again…I can see myself using these patterned papers for everyone not just my guys. 🙂
I would love to use these pieces to make some great summer cards! Thanks for the chance that ribbon is so yummy!!! Deidre M
I would use the package to jump start my creativity (and add to my stash of craft supplies:)!)
Love the sketches – almost too easy! I will add them to my file box of ideas. Thanks!
I LOVE these sketches! They are simple yet great looking cards! And a great way to use some of the patterned paper I keep collecting…LOL! I plan to make a few of each sketch to have on hand when I need a last minute card. Thanks for sharing your ideas!!
I think I have just been “gibbs-ed” (NCIS) by you or should I just say DUH… What a set of simple cards to make or the could be very elegant depending on the ds paper used and some of yours are quite beautiful.. thanks so much for sharing.. MaryAnn
I have a book where I collect sketches… these are great for simple clean looking cards… LOVE them! Plus great lay-outs for using up scrap… TFS!
I’m a paper horder…love the colors and patterns and really just love looking at them but I am learning to let go and use them. Your sketches make that a whole lot easier. Thanks Nichole and PTI!
Sharon King
I have so many scraps of paper that I did not know what to do with!! your suggestions are wonderful.I love patternpaper, but sometimes i don’t have a clue on how to use it.Thank you
I love having papers that match! It really pulls your projects together and makes for a professional looking card. I also love how fast I can put a card together with JUST a quarter sheet of patterned paper.
Nichole, all I need is a quarter sheet of each!!!
I often have a hard time using patterned paper in my projects but now I know exactly how to use it in a simple, creative, and fun way! Sometimes you just have a day when you have a birthday party to leave for in 20 minutes and you have complete creators block (this happens often to me). This set would be perfect for that!
Thanks for the sketches, Nichole! These sketches will help me use up some of those many small pieces of paper that I save. I’ve got to try some of those pre-folded cards too!
Oh I love the sketches. First I plan to make some masculine cards – I am one who struggles with making cards for guys. Then I plan to make a few for some older relatives who don’t get the attention they deserve (or live far away), I just know a handwritten note on a pretty card will make their day! (I’ll toss in some photos of the kids too). Thanks for truly inspiring me today!!
I love the simplicity of the sketches! Sometimes I get overwhelmed with patterned paper, and this makes it seem much easier to work with. I plan to print them out and add them to a binder I keep on my desk for inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing them with us!
Very cool! If I were to win these, I would definitely make up a bunch of quick and simple cards to have on hand for those emergencies that always seem to pop up.
I am always looking for elegant/classy new ideas for boxed card sets. I plan on trying out a few of these ideas or maybe all of them to add a bit of variety with coordinating papers. TFS
these sketches are great!! i have lots, of scraps to use, and i love the papers that are coming out, they ar great for guys and girls. not too girlie, they are great!! i look forward to getting them.
great cards!! I aways get so much inspiration from your blog. Thanks for sharing.
It is always great to have sketches for simple cards on hand. If you need something at the last moment because the 200 cards you already have in your stash don’t fit the person you’re giving it to, presto, you’ve got something! Thanks, Nicole!
Great ideas for using those small pieces of leftover patterned paper. I always need to send thank you notes at the end of the school year, and these ideas will make my cards quick and easy this time!
I love the way you have created a patchwork of all these beautiful papers and ribbon. I would love to try that.
I love to scrapbook and the 6×6 paper is a great size to mat pictures! Plus my youngest daughter’s favorite color is yellow! With the leftover from the mats I could do cards. Good thing I’ve been saving all my scraps since you give great ideas for using those scraps (from the skinny to the thick). Thanks for the chance to win some goodies. Sandra
I just like the idea of putting my scraps to good use!
I just like the idea of putting my scraps to good use!
I will definitely use these sketches to get “ahead” of myself before our fourth daughter arrives this summer!!! Thanks for the inspiration.
I’d make up a bunch of the ever-so-hard-to-come-up-with-an-idea masculine cards to have in my stash. These sketches, papers, and colors are perfect for just that! Thanks for the inspiration.
I love to make a batch of various themed cards and give the set as a hostess gift when we go to dinner or a party at someone else’s house.
you did it again! If I win, I’d likely copy all your ideas 🙂
Honest! Not just sucking up! LOL
Hi Nichole! Your cards are awesome as usual :o) I am going to put these sketches into a notebook for inspiration and I think they will make a nice gift set for someone! Can’t wait for the 15th. TFS.
Ruth.
great sketches, I plan on using some of them to make a bunch of Father’s Day cards to donate to the TROOPS! Thanks for sharing!
Easy-peasy — I’d whip up a huge batch of sunny birthday cards or thinking-of-you cards for the birthday list of chemo buddies on chemoangels.com
These are perfect for individuals such as myself who rely on you really creative ones to give us the ideas. i love to do things with my hands so giving me not only the sketches but these wonderful papers…. well what more can I ask for.
Ohhh, I will have NO problem finding uses for the paper pieces, sketches, etc….thanks Nicole for the contest!!
oh la la!! i’m loving this months previews. Can’t waith to the final reveal. This would be a sweet treat.
What a great way to use up scraps. I like the idea of using different size strips to fill the front of the card.
I see a lot of potential for masculine cards with these sketches though w/o a doubt they can absolutely be used for girly girl cards. Lots of guys in our family so these sketches are great! Thanks Nichole! Susie.
WOW!!! The paper is to die for. I would love to use your paper for cards and 6X6 scrapbook pages. Thanks for all you do.
I am so excited about these layouts! I have a ton of scraps of patterned paper and these cards are PERFECT for them! Thanks!!!
Sometimes the most elegant cards are the most simplistic.
I will save these sketches and possible replace the decorative paper with ribbon. Or just use them as they are for the quick, yet elegant card.
Susan C
I keep a 3-ring binder of card sketches that I take out when I want a quick and easy idea. Your sketches have been added to my book!
I am a huge fan of sketches; you might even say I’m addicted to them. These are amazing because they are such a perfect way to showcase fun DPs or use up all those scraps. I would definitely use these sketches to make gift sets, to give away AND keep for myself!
I love those simple sketches and would love to try what you did for some male birthday cards (always the hardest for me) Thank you for sharing the sketches as I am sure I can come up with other ways to use them.
I would use the paper piecing sketches to make a variety of cards for different occassions. Thanks for the chance to win the “candy”.
Thanks for the sketches. These will be perfect to use with all my scrap papers lying around. Maybe it’ll help me keep my work area more organized!
I’d love to do some Fun Springy Mothers Day Cards or these would be just right and lemony for some summer cards, for Fathers Day!
You make card-making look so simple! Love the simple look, and the fact they can be uni-sex cards is very appealing! Thanks for making such fab products and projects. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a great package!
I would use them for fathers day cards and I also think I would use some for my grandmothers 92 birthday. The colors are fantastic!
Thanks for the sketches…sometimes I get blocked coming up with ideas…I need to make some Thank you and thinking of you cards and these sketches are wonderful ideas! Thanks again
I make most of my cards when I am limited for time (when I should be getting ready for work) so I will use the paper pieces sketches to create some quick cards.
Thank you for continuing to share your talents with us!
I love the simple elegance that these simple card sketches provide. I think I will try and make a stationary gift set. Thanks for the inspiration and the chance to win.
I’d love to make ‘just because’ type of cards to keep on hand when I need something in a hurry. I can take one evening and make them assembly style and they’ll be all done and ready. I can even ‘gift’ a few cards out.
HUGS!

Such wonderful colors – more of a “Happy” color for me than masculine. Both of my parents are deceased so I am a little blue and have several people who are having problems so I think these colors and ideas are perfect “Just Because” cards. Also, thank you cards for little things people have done for us lately – like a ride home from work when I really needed one but hated to ask, etc. Of course I will have to order these new colors so my “planned leftover” pieces will have to wait but oh what ideas you gave me! Thanks for all the new stuff and all the inspiration!!!!
Well, I know this set is really focused on Father’s day, but I think I might be using these new papers and this technique for a Mother’s day card. I love mixing the various patterns together for a very simple card. The colors are awesome, and the technique is right up my alley – simple.
Love the sketches and the pretty pattern piecing! My weakness is pattern paper — can’t have too much of it (tee-hee). Your ideas will be the inspiration of so many cards and projects!

I would love to “have it all” so I could make Father’s Day cards out of all that luscious paper!! Great ideas, wonderful tutorials and I love your blog!! Thanks for the chance to win these awesome products!!!
I’d use the templates as a guide to make all kinds of cards with your beautiful colours, ribbons, and stamps. I’d challenge myself to find as many combinations and permutations as I could. I could challenge my friends. I could ………

Fun sketches Nicole! They look awesome for those times when a quick card is needed but you still want something beautiful . .. beautiful paper, beautiful stamps, beautiful sketch = gorgeous card! Thanks for the sketches! 🙂
Wowser! I love the new paper and your sketches are great inspiration for simple, but elegant cards. Thanks Nicole for always sharing your beautiful ideas!!
Debbie
very nice sketches hopefully I can use them when I am in a need of some quick cards
I have tons of pattern paper scraps that I just can seem to throw away. Most of the scraps are long and about 1″ wide so these sketches are a great way to use them up! I plan to make a bunch of birthday and thank you cards. Thanks!
i plan to use them to create coordinating gift sets for gifts for a benefit dinner we are having for my uncle.
Love this as I try to reuse, recycle, repurpose as much as possible. Sharing ideas is the ultimate “going green” that we can do even if we use every color of the rainbow!

I would refer to these sketches when I need a card or two and don’t have much time on my hands. I would also refer to them to use small pieces of pattern paper that might otherwise go unused.

Love these sketches and the patterned paper! What a great way to use all those scraps that I can’t throw away. I’m always on the look out for new sketches.
What could I NOT do with these. It would be nice to have on hand to do something last minute with!
These sketches are perfect for masculine cards and great for using up that huge pile of scraps.
I’ll be casing some of those creative ways to use paper pieces!! WOW! As always, great stuff!
I plan to drag out all my patterned paper that I have stashed and make as amny different cards that I can.

These colors are great for all the summer cards we nneed to make. Not just Father’s Day, but all of the summer birthdays and anniversaries.
Thanks Nichole!
I am really excited for a really nice masculine set! It is so hard trying to find ways of doing “guy” cards
I love your ideas and cards with the patterned pieces. Sometimes, I find it hard to create a really simple card and I usually make it more complicated…so this idea really clicked with me. Make the patterned paper be the focus and build upon it. Love the simplicity and classic design.
I really like that happy birthday card sketch and think I may use that for an upcoming shoebox swap. I love the Father paper! It is PERFECT for those cool origami-folded shirts that you see on father’s day cards. Exciting!!
Great sketches and I’m always impressed how you arrange things differently, it really starts the creative mojo flowing! You do the hard work for us, so we can create a card to show we care. Thank You! Kim
Looks like these sketches would make a great set of thank you notes for the friend in the US who received my order in the post and brought them to Cda so I didn’t have to pay shipping…. yay!!
Tracy
I am going to be using your sketches to compile a set of 150 cards to send to Afghanistan. A friends DH has recently deployed there and I am planning on sending these cards for him to distribute through his unit for soldier’s to send home to their families. The sketches with make it easy to crank out these cards quickly and still have them be beautiful. Thanks Nicole.
OMG! I love these simple sketches. I am so busy that I don’t have time to make elaborate cards that often. These will make life so much easier. I was even thinking that I may try to use my Nestabilities with these sketches. If I attach the paper pieces to chipboard or just leftover cardstock and THEN cut the shape out it would be awesome. It would then be a little more 3D without too much bulk for the mail. Maybe even diecut several pieces of different sizes and put on a card. WOW, thanks for all the new ideas! I would love to win this prize now!!!!
Thanks for the great sketches. I love using sketches to inspire me with the supplies on hand. It’s like a little booster for my creativity!
I’m so glad that a masculine set is featured, and these papers look perfect for it. Plus shades of yellow to remind us that finally the sun is here to bless our days (instead of snow). I love mixing pattern paper and plan to use them for Father’s Day and my husband and son’s birthday cards. Thanks for the chance to win.
Your sketches are great for using small pieces of paper and the cards will go together fast. I save them in a file for future use and will no doubt use one for my cards for my Bunco card exchange group! Thanks so much for your ideas. Phyllis
I would also love to be able to whip up cards quickly. These are great sketches for simple, but classy as well. Its hard w/ 4 kids, one being a toddler to get anything done!Kris
I really like the simplicity and versatility of these templates…and who knew white could be so stunning? Only with your white cardstock, and the prescored cards would ensure no more crooked cards! The paper…well, it’s springy, somewhat masculine, and just beautiful…I am pretty sure I would use it to make cards like you showed in your tutorial, and then maybe make up some 3 x 3’s in a little gift bag!
Oh, I do love this set of paper. I would like to try your idea of using the patterned paper in strips- I love the way it looks on the card. The ribbon is perfect too.
What a great way to use up some of my scraps! Thanks for sharing these layouts!
What a great way to use up some of my scraps! Thanks for sharing these layouts!
I like to use sketches when I am at a loss for ideas. I use them as a spring board to being creative.
Thanks for the creative card sketches. I have printed them out and they are in my card sketch binder. These sketches will be great in using up my small pieces of designer papers and the small pieces of ribbons that are too small to wrap around a card but are too nice to just throw away! Can’t wait to try one of the sketches out.
Wow! These are great for making a bunch of cards with the leftover scraps of a latest project!
Soon as I seen the skethes I thought what a perfect way to use them with the embossing cuttlebug folders. Makes for a simple elegant card. Oh yeah………..we must not forget the ribbon and of course Glitter.
I plan to duplicate the sketches. I like the simplicity. I could whip something together real fast. TFS!
I have tons of scraps of DSP – now I have some ideas on some cute cards I can make with them! Thanks for the layouts and inspiration. And – I love the new paper coming out – would love to win it!!
I love your sketches, Nichole. I prefer a simple, clean line to my cards and these sketches are very helpful. Love the new colors for this release!
I would definitely use the papers to send “I told you so” cards to four of my friends who think stamping is another passing fancy for me!
The sketches have inspired me to dig into my stash of paper remnants and see what I can do with them. What a great way to make a simple, quick card. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ooh! these will be perfect for my brothers!!! thanks so much Nicole for being so generous!
Ooh! these will be perfect for my brothers!!! thanks so much Nicole for being so generous!
Thanks for the chance to win….I will use these ideas to make up a bunch of cards to keep on hand.
Great idea! I would probably do something similar to have a bunch of cards on hand to use in a pinch.
Savin’ them babies to blatantly CASE them when I need a good manly card! I am horribly challenged when it comes to making cards for the guys in my life so these are wonderful to have as backup! Thanks so much for the great ideas.
i just love the new orange color can’t wait for the 15
I love these. I would be interested in using them for a gift set that I am making for a friend. She recently lost her mom. Her mom was a card maker and a group of us are getting together to make up some cards for her to use in memory of her mom.
Barb M.
I love the versatility of all of these cards! They would be great to make up a bunch of them only leaving off the sentiment to add as needed! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration and opportunity!
i like the simplicity and clean look of the sketches and am inspired to do some cards based on them. I may even see how they work as part of a layout. 🙂

These are great cards! I’ll be making some to send to a MEDEVAC unit deployed to Afghanistan. I send a batch of cards every couple of months for them to use to send home. I can use these sketches and vary the paper and use them for kid cards, which I seem to have trouble with.
Orange is my son’s favorite color. These would be great for a birthday card for him!
Hi Nichole!
WOW! I really like your idea to use paper pieces…what a fabulous look!
I am working on a project making note card sets. Your first sketch would be perfect.
Thank you for a chance to win that neat kit!
What perfect timing…I have three guy birthday cards to make for this coming week and these templates are great for some quick, easy cards. Thanks for the patterns and the idea for using up tiny scraps of paper.
i love the sketches! i am excited to try the pieces blocks…i think i will make a set of cards doing this in the different colors of my perfect match papers for my mother-in-law…she was visiting today and ‘drooling’ over my cards and was ‘wishing’ for a stash of cards to go to when she needs them…i plan on making that stash for her by the time she goes back to maine at the end of the month…these are perfect for that!
thank you!!! chelle
These sketches are great Nichole! I’d love to make a set as a mother’s day gift for my husband’s grandmother.
These are wonderful Nichole! I had a surprise birthday party for my husband’s 50th yesterday; I needed to find an easily re-producable Thank You card and these would be perfect! Thanks for the chance to win!
woohoo!! love the new Father Knows best!!
Your sketches are GREAT! I’m going to add them to my sketch folder and keep them handy. So many possibilities and a great way to use up my scraps! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the sketches! I’m going to be on medical leave later this week and I plan to spend my recovery time crafting gifties for friends and family – those sketches will be used for a few card sets!
I’m always searching for fresh ideas. My style is clean and simple. I love your sketches! I plan to use them to make some cards for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
I love all the sketches and hope to actually get some cards made and not just look at the sketch. Love the use of the small patterned pieces on the cards, great way to use scraps.
Wow! yellows are some of my favorites! I see sunflowers and yellow daisies!! What a great way to cheer up a friend who is under the weather. Yep, a get well card is what I’d do with these goodies!

These sketches are going to be used to use up my huge scrap pile! I am needing some cards quick this week and this is going to be perfect! Thank you for sharing these sketches and helping me dwindle my scrap paper pile down too.
Ooh, I hope I’ll be lucky! I really enjoy making card sets to give as gifts (but sometimes I sneak out one or two to send out!)
I love scraps, too, and can barely stand to throw them away! I think I’ll try to make up some of these easy cards with those little ones before I clean off the area around the trimmer. That way I feel like I’m making good use of every piece of that paper!!
These sketches are cool! The simplicity of them are perfect for masculine cards. I really like the designs of the paper.
I find that using a sketch to help me get started really saves me a lot of time in the long run. Otherwise I will sit there forever just trying to come up with a layout idea. When time is short, which is always around here, 🙂 sketches are a great thing. Thanks for sharing these ideas that I can add to my collection.
Thanks so much for the sketches! I love patterned paper and buy alot of it, but find myself not knowing what to do with it! These sketches are a great way for me to use up scraps from my scrap pages.
Just love the colours this month. Really beautiful.
These are great ideas and supplies to have on hand for quick cards! Thank you,
Debby G
Oh my goodness what great sketches, I love sketches especially on days when I have no mojo… what a great way to use up scraps.
These sketches will help build my masculine card stash which is sorely lacking these days. I loooove these colors since yellow is my favorite color. Thanks for the great sketches.
I can’t wait to share these sketches with my stamping club and challenge them to use their scraps of patterned paper… I KNEW I was saving all those little pieces for a reason! Thank you for such a wonderful, inspirational blog!
Nichole,
Thanks for these Paper Pieces sketches – they’re awesome! I’m going to try to sit down this week and make a few cards using your ideas!
Kerry Morgan
I plan to use the sketches to make a bunch of cards to keep on hand, then add sentiments as needed.
I can not wait to use these sketches with different color combos for a card gift set 🙂 These are wonderful!!!
These are some great sketches. Thanks for the inspiration! What great ways to use up some scraps!!
I always save a copy of pictures of cards I like on my computer…it makes them easier to case later. I’d love to have some sunny papers that coordinate to make cards.. I have 2 little boys and don’t always have the time to “match” up papers.
ooooo, I am gonna have to try this with my pinks that you released last month 🙂 These are great!!! TFS!!
I love these card sketches and the new paper patterns. What great masculine cards I will be able to make. I also use a lot of simple cuts with my patterned paper, and this will be fabulous.
Melissa
Great sketches–I’d love to use them to make a bunch of quick cards to have on hand ‘in a pinch.’ Thanks for sharing them!
Your sketches are awesome!!!! They are easy, simple and elegant at the same time.
I think the sketches are adaptable to many ocassions!!! Birthday is a great idea!!!
Thanks for the chance to win!!
God bless
Giovana
I have saved up a box of scraps – now I know how I can use it all up on some great cards. Terri
Great sketches and ideas for masculine cards. We have a card ministry at our church that meets monthly and I think these sketches will be great at one of our meetings.
What with a father, a step-father, a father-in-law and my own husband, Father’s Day demands a whole lot of cards! These papers and ribbons (and sketches!!) would be PERFECT for all of them!
I plan to make a bunch of them, and of course a co-ordinating box to put them in and then give them to my mother for mother’s day.
These sketches are great!
I save sketches for those times when I just don’t know what to do next with a card project. Oftentimes, just a new orientation makes all the difference!
And I always use a sketch when my mojo has taken flight!
Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Thank you for the generous providing your template! I intend to get back into some of the patterned paper I’ve been hoarding so long, that I needed new inspiration.
I love these sketches! I want to make some cards for guys, and this looks like the perfect idea.
Wow thanks for the ideaas Nichole! I plan on trying to make a dent in my ever growing pile of scraps on my desk- there are probably quite a few PTI scraps in there too!
Diane

Hey Nichole, I can’t wait to try these sketches and use up all my scraps! Can’t throw anything away!
Sue
I will use the new patterned paper to make masculine cards. The colors are bright but the small patterns in the paper still create a subdued look which will work well for a masculine card.
Donna
I love patterned paper but I need collections like these that already coordinate. No time to go through the stacks I have collected AND make the cards! You do all the work and we get to have all the fun. Thanks.
I’m going to make cards with the sketches! wonderful creative designs and so simple – they make gorgeous cards – love the new colors you have this month!
Your sketches are perfect for the little bits of beautiful paper I can’t bear to toss!
-Alta
Your card designs are so simple and elegant. I usually can labor for hours over a design, but your site and stamps make it sooo much easier to keep it simple! And the paper is adorable.
Wow wat fab sketches..I wuld love to bring them out on my cards..!!Its pleasure using them as I’am unable to get them in India..I’m sure whom so ever I’ll gift they’ll be happy to receive them..!!
I adore this paper! I would use it to make coordinated sets of cards and stationery for friends and family! : )
They are great easy sketches for last minute cards…so I will use them when I have zero inspiration and need something fast!
Charmaine
Thanks for the sketches Nichole!! I love the simplicity of them. I printed them out and plan on making a bunch of different ones using different patterned paper. I have definetely changed my style of stamping lately to a more simple style. I just don’t have the time to spend an hour on one card these days. Papertrey products make it so easy to stamp as simply as you wish and still make cute or beautiful cards:) Can’t wait for the release!!!!
I printed out your sketches and plan to make some birthday cards with them and your set of birthday basics. LOVE your sets can’t wait til I can order more. I may even use the sketches to make some scrapbook pages.
Sketches are so nice to have on hand when you’re having “stamper’s block”. Plus for more novice stampers I think it’s a great way to learn about design and see quickly things that work as well as what types of things appeal to you. I have been collecting skethes for journal my mother can use as a reference tool. These will definitely be included.
Great ideas, now I know what I can do with some of my scraps, thanks!
I’ve never been a real sketch person… until now! I loved your paper squares with the everyday blessings paper and I’ve gone nuts with paper pieces since. (It helps to have such beautiful coordinating paper.) I’ve saved the sketches in my Papertrey folder. I have to keep a folder on my computer with everything that inspires me it. I used to remember things… then I had kids.
I love these sketches! Can’t wait for the release of the ribbons. I will use these ideas for masculine cards. Thanks!
I’m adding these sketches to my ‘Mish-inspired’ sketch book. I just started it the other day so the timing is wonderful!
What great sketches! The simplicity of design is just what I need for making cards in bulk for troops overseas — and that is exactly what I would do with the “Paper Pieces” prize package. Father’s Day cards that troops overseas can send home. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I was just looking over these sketches again. I love your clean, crisp and classical designs. Love the sketches!
Great sketches…these would be perfect to make cards using scraps! Thanks for this chance to win sweet candy!
~Brenda H.
I love the new paper, it is so beautiful, I mean masculine! No, really they are gorgeous. I can’t wait to try out the sketches & paper for Father’s day! Thanks for all your amazing inspiration!
Great sketches! I would definitely use them anything I need to whip up a nice card with minimal supplies. Thanks so much!
love these sketches!! Great cards!
Beth
I plan to use the sketches to make a cute set of cards for my mom for Mother’s Day- She loves to send handmade cards… as long as she’s not the one making them!! So I try to keep her stocked up.
I will probably use the sketches to make sets of coordinating notecards to give as gifts. Also, it’s a great way to use up scraps!
Thanks for sharing all of these great ideas. Each of these sketches are great to keep on file for quick cards. They are also a great way to use up scraps! I almost always try to make my cards from scraps on hand first.
I’m going to pre-score a bunch of cards and have them ready with the sketches for this inspiration! I love the idea of making a bunch at one time – and your sketches are so simple yet classy!
I have a binder with ideas, sketches, color schemes that I browse through when I am feeling a lack of inspiration. These great sketches will go in there. Also, I am going to make a set of cards….varying greetings/messages. GREAT inspiration!
Love the new papers, they would be great for all masculine cards. Can’t wait to see what is in store for us tomorrow.
I would love to make a bunch of thank you cards to have ready for when I need them. Beautiful paper and ribbon!
I can’t wait to go through my scraps and try these sketches. I think this would be a cute set of notecards for a gift to do a couple of each sketch and then package them with a matching pen. Too fun!!
I’m printing off these sketches and will be using them to plan my Mother’s Day cards! I have a ton of scraps that are begging to be used. Plus, after using my scrap stash, I can buy more DP without the guilt 🙂
I love your inspirations and often look back to your blog for ideas! I love the simplicity of these cards and think I will make a bulk of them in different colors and stamp a bunch of sayings so I can adhear them as I need the cards!
Thank you for sharing ideas for using pattern papers on cards! I very rarely use my pattern papers, but I realize how much easier it would be than to stamp a background. I love the new colors this month!
Play, play, play! I just love those new, bright, summery colors! I can hardly wait to get my hands on them.
These sketches are very verstaile. Either to create some cards quickly or to just use them in scrapbook layouts. Thanks for Sharing.
