Hi everybody, welcome to our new feature What do I do with this? For this challenge our designers will get to try out some of these new tools and share the projects they created using them. We’ve got some fun, new things coming to the Papertrey Ink store and our designers will show you how to use them so you’ll be comfortable incorporating them into your card-making and gift-giving. Stay tuned for exciting and creative things coming your way! We want to share what our designers love with you, and this gives you a first-hand look into their crafty-faves!
Let’s get started!
I enjoy giving my otherwise clean and simple designs something a bit “extra”. The Border Bling: Joy Frame Die is stunning by itself but with a touch of Stickles (glitter glue), it gives it a beautifully sparkling effect. The antlers on the deer were also embellished with Stickles for the look of sparkling snow. There is also another bit of “extra” to this card in the background of the deer. The Seeing Stars Stencils were used with some shimmer spritz for a very subtle look!

OTHER: Seeing Stars Stencil Collection, Stickles
To begin, I stenciled some vintage jadeite ink onto a panel of white card stock. Once the ink had been added, I added the grit paste over the top and allowed it to dry. Since I chose such a small pattern to stencil, it keeps this particular design element very subtle.
While that was drying, I die cut the poinsettia pieces and added color using distress oxide inks. I assembled them using liquid glue and foam squares. I used an inexpensive paintbrush to add the crackle paste to the flowers. I set each of the three poinsettias aside so that they could dry and the crackle effect would begin to emerge.
Once again, I didn’t use a large amount of the crackle paste, so this is also another subtle detail that doesn’t overwhelm the design. If I were to use either one of these pastes in larger quantities on this particular card, I would need to choose which one I would rather showcase.
Once the background and the flowers were dry, I was able to assemble my card adding a few extra special touches to make these flowers come to life. I added some glitter to the leaves and flowers and a few Moonshine sequins to the center of each flower. I really like how this card turned out and I can’t wait to use both of these pastes again in the future!
