My very favorite song is an old English Christmas carol called “The Friendly Beasts”. It is a very special story about the animals that were in the stable with Jesus when he was born and what special “gift” each of them shared. When I was little, we had this song on a record and it is as special to me now as it was then.

Thank you for an awesome release! I was really inspired by the GORGEOUS projects from the DT! My favorite Christmas song is “The Christmas Song” ….as a child, The Christmas Song was one of the many songs we listened to on our stereo as we opened gifts. It is a beautiful song however, I’m not sure why that song stuck with me through the years. Everytime I hear it now, it brings me back to my childhood Christmas’. 🙂

Our Christmas Eve service always begins with Once in Royal David’s City—the first verse sung by a small group of kids without accompaniment, then the adult choir for two verses, and the final verses with the whole congregation. It gave me goose bumps the first year I heard it, and continues to do so many, many years later. Definitely my fave!

Oh my gosh, how to decide? I adore the carols (especially those in a minor key, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Good King Wenceslas are favorites) and popular songs (White Christmas is my favorite holiday movie!) but I could listen to Carol of the Bells 85 times in a row and still be happy! I still wave my arms around as though I’m the conductor whenever I hear it, and have done since I was a little girl! I saw it performed in church on the handbells when I was young and have found it enchanting ever since!

That’s tough…I have lots, but one of them is What Child is This? My mom really likes it, so she found a very simplified version for me to learn when I was a beginning piano player. It was the first Christmas song I can remember learning. My husband plays the guitar and has a beautiful voice. This song is one of his favorites and he’s created a beautiful medley with it, so it continues to be a favorite of mine.

There’s “The River,” particularly Robert Downey Jr’s take from Ally McBeal. I never thought of it as a Christmas song but it’s definitely a winter one and he’s not someone I’d peg as a singer but he actually has a beautiful voice. The last of the big 3 is probably “Carol of the Bells,” especially the “Midnight in Sarajevo” version from Transiberian Orchestra. SO powerful.

My favorite Holiday song is a Medley by John Denver & the Muppets (from their Christmas special many years ago)- Alfie the Christmas Tree/Carol for a Christmas Tree/etc. It’s a collection of short pieces that tell a beautiful story / song about a Christmas tree & his wish for the world. It’s very nature oriented which I love & is just a really, really sweet song. Touches my heart every time I hear it. If you’ve never heard it before, check it out for sure – and make sure to hear the full version; it’s about 4 1/2 mins with all the parts 🙂

Hands down it’s “O Come All Ye Faithful.” My mother, sister, and I would sing it in three part harmony, with mom doing an incredibly beautiful high tenor. Mom died long ago (way too young), but those memories of us girls around the piano still linger in my heart and mind. Every Christmas season I think of that special time with mom and Sue. And I like the song’s message as well.

I love O Holy Night because of the lyrics and the way it builds up to a crescendo. I also love I’ll Be Home For Christmas, but it always makes me cry (especially Josh Groban’s version) because my son is in the military and we haven’t spent Christmas with him since 2004.

“White Christmas”, although there are many Christmas songs that I love hearing over & over. I love the more traditional songs. This particular song brings back fond memories of when I was a child. We really had very little money, & the small B & W TV was so temperamental- you had to hit it @ a certain spot to get rid of specific lines of static (& there was no remote). Anyway, we always watched that movie together, & my mind was filled with so many dreams… I love Christmas!

My most favorite holidaysong is not a mainstream song, but rather a song from the disneyland Paris themepark. It is called “Chante c’est Noël”; which means as much as: Come sing, it’s Christmas.
The themepark has special meaning to us, it was where my father, once through the turnstiles, could forget and be ‘young’ again. We would visit every summer and tried to sneek in another visit during the holiday season.
Sadly he died almost five years ago, but the memories remain.

There was a father/son duet that sang this song on Christmas Eve at church from different balconies and it was so beautiful. For a kids’ song, I like “I’m Gettin’ Nuttin’ for Christmas”. Silver Bells! I can still see myself standing in our dining room, while my Mom put the record onto the record player and then we would begin to decorate for the Christmas holiday. This song brings back the warmth and love of Christmas at home, and the nostalgia of that time.

“Mary, Did You Know?” sung by Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd – our first child was born on December 27 so the idea of a baby at Christmas became even more meaningful to me that year. The line “When you kiss you little baby, you’ve kissed the face of God” makes me cry even as I’m typing this. Such a perfect song to capture the sacred birth of Jesus!!

Those memories are planted in my mind and will forever live in my heart. It also touches me that it was sung simultaneously in English and German by troops during the Christmas truce of 1914 during World War I. Apparently it was the one carol that soldiers on both sides of the front line knew.

I love to sing Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, because I actually know all the lyrics and kids love it!

My favorite Christmas song is Silver Bells. I can remember singing it to my Nana (she lived in England) on the phone when I was a little girl. It always brings back memories.

My favorite is silent night, because I remember singing it by candlelight at church every year.

“Mary Did You Know” is my favorite with “Silent Night” a close second! Wonderful release and the cards have been gorgeous!

The 12 days of Christmas by the Muppets. Brings back memories of when I was a kid. I play the album and my kids look at me like I’m crazy. They just don’t understand what childhood was like before video games.

my favorite song is Mele Kalikimaka by Bing Crosby-growing up in Illinois, it sounded exotic to spend Christmas in a warm climate, and now I live in AZ, and it’s not. LOL But it’s just not Christmas until I hear it.

I love Merry Christmas Darling. It’s such a sweet song and Karen Carpenter’s voice is beautiful.

A favorite? WoW! All of them. If I had to single out one I would probably say, Silent Night or Oh Holy Night.

Oh wow, it is so hard to pick a Christmas song favorite. If I have to pick just one, I think it would be O Holy Night. Love Christmas…
