The four "flaps" that get cut out at once with this die are designed to be adhered around the back of a 4" x 4" square of cardstock and folded over to meet in the center. You can use the flaps on all four sides or on just two sides for different looks. You can even add string or ribbon closures too! Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!
First up is a quick and easy project made with the new Phrase Play #10. I die-cut the main Phrase Play #10 frame twice, popping out the word and vine on both versions. I then adhered the two layers of the frame together.
One of the vines was then colored with Copic markers, giving it a soft effect.
I used a white gel pen to add a bit of detail to each of the blooms and also added a few "berries" using tiny adhesive pearls.
The companion sentiment from the coordinating stamp set was heat embossed winthin the opening of the frame.
Everything was layered onto a Spring Rain card front. This collectin is just so fun to use! What do you think you'll do with that gorgeous little vine first?
One of my favorite images ever is the peony image from Botanical Blocks II, so I was excited to have the opportunity to turn that stamp into a gorgeous cover plate die. I decided to use a technique similar to the one I used in the Trick or Treat card HERE with the Candy Corn Collage die. I impressed the cover plate die into white cardstock using the same sandwich I would use for embossing. I then was able to use all of those lines as a guide to color in the flower and leaves.
When I completed the coloring I adhered a die-cut version of the cover plate over the colored layer, giving the flowers and leaves that gorgeous definition.
After I completed coloring each petal with Copic markers, I followed up with a colorless blender to add stripes for a bit of visual interest.
This beautiful sentiment from A Cheerful Heart was stamped onto a square of vellum and stitched onto the edge of the card using one of the Stitching Line dies and white crochet thread.
By keeping everything clean and white, the detail of the peony is really able to pop.
Another way you can use the Cover Plate: Peony die is snip the flower from the frame and apply color directly to it.
Here I sponged Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores onto the floral portion and Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado onto the leaves.
I sprayed the back of the pieces with spray adhesive to easily adhere it to my card. The detail and texture on this is just incredible.
I die-cut the Wet Paint III sentiment from Tropical Teal cardstock and adhered it to the corner of the card.
A simple design with a lot of impact!
I'm excited to show you these new Floral Flaps dies as well! They are such an easy way to add a statement to your projects! They were designed to fit around the sides of a 4" x 4" square card, but here I opted to just add them to two sides of a 4" x 5-1/4" card.
The flaps were die-cut from Melon Berry cardstock, with the edge adhered to the back of the card with Scor-tape. The flap can then easily fold over the front of the card. You can finish the flaps anyway you wish. I ended up using silver eyelets and some Soft Stone Bitty Dot ribbon.
When the flaps are untied, it reveals the interior.
At the corners of the interior I added flowers and leaves using Embellished Elegance.
This scripture from A Cheerful Heart adorns the center of the card, stamped in Classic Kraft.
These flaps really open up a whole new world of possibilities!
For my last card I have a quick and easy project created with the new Mat Stack 7 Basics set.
I die-cut and stamped the smallest Mat Stack 7 die with Autumn Rose. The pattern blocks were stamped separately onto Summer Sunrise cardstock using Canyon Clay ink, then trimmed out.
By adhering them with foam tape it adds a bit of dimension to the project.
The white scrollwork, also included in this set, was added on either side of the frame using Fresh Snow ink. I also did some faux sitiching around the perimeter of the card with a white gel pen.

I absolutely love the floral flaps! I make wedding invitations and have been looking for an easy way to create an invitation like this! There are other products that make the die cut portion, but I haven’t found one that incorporates the easy flap to adhere! Brilliant! Any chance this could be a regular series with different designs!
