Banner-Journal-Card-die

A brand new year is a time to celebrate and make resolutions for the year to come! There is so much included in this set  by Heather Nichols.  Wish family and friends a Happy New Year, create invitations for New Year’s Eve celebrations, and document your celebrations in your scrapbook albums.

The Details:

  • Happy New Year will be available for purchase on November 15th.
  • It will retail for $15.
  • Happy New Year contains a total of 28 images.  The “happy new year” sentiment is 2 1/2” wide and just over 1/4” tall. The clock face image is just over 1 5/8” in diameter. The largest star image is 1/2” wide and just under 1/2” tall.
  • A coordinating Banner Journal Card die will be available for sale separately, retailing for $8.  It measures 2-7/8" x 3-7/8".

 

 

These playful pals are the perfect theme to embellish both winter and holiday projects.  They were designed with the intent of adhering actual pompoms in the appropriate places, something both adults and children would love!  The images are sized to coordinated with the Limitless Layers: 2-1/2" Circle dies, so you can add them to cards and tags!

Birthday Classics: December by Dawn McVey is the eleventh set in a monthly series that features a gorgeously unique birthday sentiment as well as birthday sentiment building options, with each set focusing on a specific month!  Finally, you can create birthday sentiments specific to each recipient’s birth month!  Custom birthday cards just got more fun than ever!  You’ll want to be sure to collect them all to create cards for anyone on your birthday calendar!

Small-Sketched-Stars-dies

These mini versions of Sketched Stars dies will be wonderful for any New Year's projects you create, or anything that is celebratory!

The Details:

  • Small Sketched Stars die collection contains a total of set of 7 wired dies.  1-1/8" x 1-1/4" (large), 7/8" x 1" (medium), 3/4" x 3/4" (small)

  

 

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!

Reindeer tag

The new Pom Pom Pals set is so much fun to work with!  Whether you opt to add a real pom pom or not, they realy are adorable little critters!

I die-cut a circle and stamped the reindeer image in Noir Black.  I used Copic markers to color him in, going back in with a colorless blender to add "snow" to the navy sky.  The pom pom was then adhered in place.  I used a 1/2" pom pom here because I liked the nose to look a bit more exagerated, but a 1/4" would work as well.

Letters

I stamped "to" at the bottom of the tag and then added the recipients name with Type Strips, a new product line you will see more of later in the week!

Down

The tag base was created with the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 5 die.  A bit of baker's twine was tied to the top and finished with a mini clothespin.

Hello There Card

Next up is this sweet little penguin waving hello!  I kept this card simple so the pom pom detail would take center stage.

The image was stamped in Noir Palette ink and then I used Copic Markers for the coloring.  A white pom pom finishes the hat.  Isn't he just the cutest!

Down

I stamped the sentiment just to the side of the finished penguin. To help break up the squareness of everything, I rounded the corners of the card front.

Snowman Card

Now for the last character in the Pom Pom Pals set!  This snowman has fuzzy ear muffs that you can leave as is, or adhere real pom poms to if you wish!

Background

I stamped the bottom portion of the kraft card front with the new Fair Isle Motifs set using Fresh Snow ink.

Snowman

I die-cut this circle and then added the snowman with Noir Palette ink.  I colored the scarf, earmuffs and frame with Copics then used a cotton swab to rub Fresh Snow ink over the areas of the snowman.  A white gel pen made quick work of adding a few stitched around the edge of the circle.

December Birthday Card

Here I have used another pattern from the Fair Isle Motifs set to complement a December birthday card!

Background

I stamped the main motif in Tropical Teal onto Hawaiian Shores cardstock.  A few additional details were added in Fresh Snow.  The detail in this set is just incredible!

Sentiment

This gorgeous sentiment from Birthday Classics: December was heat embossed with White Filigree Embossing Powder.   I then stamped it again in Enchanted Evening onto a scrap of cardstock and trimmed out a portion of the sentiment and adhered it to the appropriate place.

Down

A bit of white crochet thread was then tied around the spine.  Think of all the colors you could create these in!

Holiday Thank You Card

For my next project I decided to bring ombre and the Fair Isle Motifs together.

Fair isle

I stamped this design in rows, inking each row with two colors, allowing them to fade in the middle.  From the bottom to the top I used Raspberry Fizz, Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise and Orange Zest.

Sentiment

I die-cut this banner (from the Tag Sale #10 die collection) using Rasberry Fizz cardstock.  The thank you sentiment from Holiday Thanks was heat embossed with White Filigree Embossing Powder.  Underneath that I stamped the companion sentiment in True Black.

Down

I love the way this ombre turned out and I'm looking forward to experimenting with other color combos!

Dream Big This Year Card

Now to switch gears to a few cards made with Heather's Happy New Year set!

Banner

I die-cut the Banner Journal Card from white cardstock and then popped out the individual banners and stamped them with the coordinating stamp.  A countdown was created using the number stamps.  I also wrapped a bit of white crochet thread around the side, which was finished with a bow.

Sentiment

The other corner of the card is accented with a stamped clock face from the set as well as one of my favorite sentiments.  A Soft Stone card base was added, stamped with Polka Dot Basics III using Fresh Snow ink.

Happy New Year

For my last project I took advantage of the black and gold color scheme that is popular for New Year celebrations.

Sentiment

I heat embossed the main sentiment in Black Filigree Embossing Powder onto the Smokey Shadow cardstock.

A strip of gold label paper is heat embossed with one of the sentiments from the new Keep It Simple: New Year set.

Stars

I also cut a few gold stars from the gold label paper, making it easy to stick them in place.  A few small star images were stamped and scattered around the gold stars.

  222. Pom Pom Pals, I can see these, die cut and used as a lid topper, on my re-used jars from the big box stores, with snack mix in them. Most of the lids are dark blue, blues work for a snowman background, blue pom earmuffs, something that would be saved for another Christmas.

  468. Penguins and Snowmen are family favorites, so of course, you can imagine how much I love the two icon-related cards!
    The penguin card is simple, but oh so cute–it lends countless possibilities. 🙂
    The bottom border of the snowman reminds me of Scandinavian artwork/knit wear patterns, and so it definitely can be used alone as a winter greeting card background.
