Hello, all! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend thus far! We pre-purchased tickets a few weeks ago to take the kids down to the Nashville IMAX theater for the opening of Where the Wild Things are yesterday. I loved the book as a child myself so I was very much looking forward to it! The movie ended up being not quite we expected and actually pretty disappointing. Have any of you seen it yet? What id you think of it?
There have been quite a few requests/questions about the notepad cover I did for THIS POST from last week, using our new exclusive notepads. I put together a free download for all of you to utilize in making your own versions of the notepad covers…
Download Notepad Pocket Cover Template (double)
Download Notepad Pocket Cover Template (single)
You'll notice that it has a built-in curved pocket flap. You just fold it over to the inside of the the cover and adhere it along the bottom edge. Super easy. These templates are actual size, so you can just print and go if you wish.
There are two versions of the download, one for a double notepad, like I showed in my original post, and one for a single notepad. I would love see what you create with this template is you put it to use!
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!!!
P.S. For those of you that have inquired as to when our popular Take Note stamp set will be back in stock, it should only be about a two week wait! Thanks for your excitement about this new product!
A big thank you from Italy!
THANK YOU! This is just what I was hoping for! Now to stalk the mailman and wait for the Take Note set to arrive!
Thanks for the download. Are you going to start to carry a mixture of buttons like the ones in this past release? I am anxiously awaiting my order and can’t wait to get started.
Awwww, that was sweet Nichole! Saved some headache trying to figure out those measurements!!! You are awesome.
Thanks so much, Nichole!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
You are awesome!! Thanks
Has anyone told you what an kind and thoughtful woman you are! Thank you!
Nichole, you are such a sweetie to share this. I bought the stamp set and both colors of notepads to make Christmas gifts. I’m very excited to get my order. You are a gem!
Came over by way of Mrs. Phillips blog… cute, cute stuff! My mum is taking me today to see the movie… really? disappointing? I made her read that book to me every night… twice!!
๐ can’t get the download to work ๐ *sniff, sniff*
Hugs,

Shoot, I was planning to get mine today! Thanks for the update. I definitely want to be one of the “next wave” of Take Note. A super duper hit!
Thanks Nichole, you’re the best!!
Oh, THANK YOU for that template! That is so helpful in making the note pads. I can’t wait to get my stuff from PTI! It’s always a GOOD day when my new things arrive! ๐
Have a wonderful weekend. Sorry the movie was disappointing. It seems they can mess up just about everything, doesn’t it??!! It IS a great book; hope I’ll get to see the movie some time…
Thats brilliant Nichole – Thanks. I can’t wait to receive my order, probably a few weeks away as I’m over in the UK but I can dream and sketch while I wait :O)
Thanks, Nichole for sharing your templates! A very generous gesture and is well appreciated! Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks so much Nichole! I’m not surprised that the Take Note set sold out….definitely my favorite!
Thank you Nichole! Can’t wait for my set to arrive.
Did you think the movie was appropriate for an almost 5 year old? We can’t decide whether or not to take our son based on the reviews.
Nichole,
Thank you for “unselfishly” sharing your template and your ideas. I love your creations and also those of designers.
I got on papertrey ink to place my order and OMG the stamp set take note was out. I was very disappointed. Thank goodness it will be here in a couple of weeks.
I was just signing into your blog to see if I could figure out dimensions for this cover and lo and behold there was a template! Thanks so much!
You are simply the best! Now I can get started on making covers until my PTI box arrives. Thank you, Nichole!
I saw the movie last night and must say I didn’t know what to expect since the book had so few words and basically was up to the imagination. Nothing I’d really recommend to see but very glad i saw it. For Melissa on taking a 5 year old – the “wild things” do play rough, throw each other around, throw things at each other etc. I think you’re better off creating your own story from the book. And oh yeah, thank you so much for the download Nicole.
Thanks so much for the template! Yay! I still love the book Where the Wild Things Are. I wasn’t going to see it because I love the magic created in my head & I didn’t want to ruin it. Know what I mean? But I heard a movie reviewer say that the movie WAS NOT for children- it is about the experience of childhood, something adults would be able to relate to & make the movie enjoyable but young children might be bored. The movie was INSPIRED by the book. I think a lot of parents thought the movie was the book remade & were quite disappointed. Sorry to hear that. Oh shucks! I knew I shouldn’t have waited on take note ๐ I usually order right at the release, but I couldn’t this time.) I’ll wait for it to come in. wahhhh. Thanks Nichole!!!
thank you thank you for the download. I’m not very good at figuring this type of stuff out on my own! We greatly appreciate it!
thanks for this template!
Thank you so much for generously sharing these templates. Can’t wait to get started on these babies.
Another Thank You here! These are going to make great gifts this holiday season for family and friends. I find I’m really inspired by this stamping company by the beautiful paper creations shown to us each month.
Thank you so much for the template! I’m sorry to hear about the movie. I have been really looking forward to it but then again, I never like the movie as well as the book!
Thanks so much. You make our lives so much easier. I can’t wait to get my order; so glad I managed to get the Take Note set before it sold out! I haven’t seen Where the Wild Things Are, but our local reviewer gave it a pretty poor review.
WTWTA is my 18 year old son’s FAVORITE MOVIE now…he told me today it was the best movie he’s ever seen!!!
Thanks Nichole you are so thoughtful. I kept reviewing eveeryones post thinking I had overlooked the measurements and then Niki posted some on the messageboard. Thanks so much again for the template. Now to only stalk to the mail man with my stamps…lol
THANKS SO MUCH! Like everyone else, I can hardly wait for my order to arrive so I can get busy making those cute notebooks!! You are all amazing and much appreciated for all you do to help us!
FAB… answer to my prayers!! This will save me time in figuring out… thankfully I ordered straight away… knew this one would be a winner!
Thank you Nichole! You’re the best! Now, I just have to wait for my order to get here so I can play!
Thanks for the download. Now I will be ready to go as soon as I get my order. I ordered the set and can’t wait to get my order…….
Thanks for the templates! They are so very helpful. Can’t wait till my box arrives this week!
Thanks so much for the download. I really appreciate it. Very thoughtful of you. I can’t wait to order the set and pads. Thanks again. Sandy C.
I am so excited that I actually ordered/and am getting this set! Can’t wait to have it and use it!!! Love Mish’s little pads!!!
oh lovely note holder, now I need to get me some of those wonderful notebooks.
we went to see the wild things movie yesterday and same thing, we were all kinda disappointed. The movie was just a tad bit too emotional for my kids. My almost 13 yr old said, mom it was sad and wierd, and took away from the book! so anyway…my family thinks it had its good and bad parts but def. not what we thought it would be either.
Thanks so much for the downloads!!
Love the template for the notepads! I feel some Christmas gifts coming on!
Plugged in ONline reviews movies for Focus on the Family. They did not give it a favorable review. For consideration: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. It got a much better review. I’ll take a little cheeziness over brooding for a kids movie any day!
you’re so sweet to share your template for the notepads, Nichole…thanks very much!
Thank you so much for the download! I should get my PTI stuff in the next day or two! I am so excited to play with that new stamp set and those notepads!!! You’re the best!
Should have listened to you. Huge disappointment…HUGE!!! That was the worst movie ever, and believe me when I say I have seen some real stinkers. Did the story even make sense? Excuse me, I have to go watch Lord of the Rings to renew my faith in movies. After Transformers (ick), Ponyo (boo!), and now Wild Things (yuck) I may just give them up all together.
Thanks Nicole for the template, I was just about ready to go to the October release to check it out again, so I can be ready when my notepads arrive. I received the notification yesterday that the order has been shipped but usually it takes several more days before the package is moving across country. Anyway thanks so much.
I think the notepads are such a great idea and I am so ready to use them for gifts for the granddaughters teacher and friends and family. Thank you Mish and Nicole
My daughter-in-law, son and the children went to the see the movie yesterday and they too were disappointed.
One more reason to love PTI! Thanks, Nichole!
TYSVM for this d/l! I came to your blog today to have another look at the notepads to see if I could re-create a cover and you’ve been generous enough to share templates! Now all I need to do is patiently wait for the mail carrier to deliver my goodies! I haven’t been this excited over a new idea for a long time!
Thaks Nicole. I can’t wait for my delivery. This is going to make some great Christmas gifts!
Thanks so much for the template, that’s why I love PTI and your blog you have and give the best ideas
Gina
Nichole…many thanks for this download! You are wonderful for all you added help!!!!! ๐
Thank you so much Nichole for the download. I am new to your blog and Papertrey Ink and have spent most of my weekend getting wonderful inspiration!!!! You are so talented. I recreated your Cupcake Take Along with a Halloween theme and received rave reviews. That idea is just tooooo cute. I think I’m gonna love this place. ๐ Thanks again for brightening up my weekend.
Thank you so much for the downloads…now all I need is my stamp set! Can’t wait for it to arrive!
Thanks so much. I was wondering about this, too!
Thanks for your generosity and for sharing. I am hoping to make some pre-holiday gifts with this.
Leora
Thanks Nichole! We took our 7 year old to the movie yesterday and I was disappointed as well. I thought the costuming and creation of the monsters was amazing, but was not thrilled with the interpretation of the story. I thought it was a bit dark for a kid’s movie.
Thanks for sharing all of your creativity with all of us!
Amy
I love this! Thank you ever so much.
Thanks for sharing the template.
Hi!
I always check movies here before I go with my kids:
http://www.commonsensemedia.org
Hi, I emailed customer service but haven’t heard back from them. On your template, when I print it out the height is 7 7/8 inches, the blurb on the note pads says that they are 8 inches tall. Is this true? Is my printer messing up the dimensions? I don’t have the notepads yet, but am hoping that they are a teeny, weeny bit smaller than 8 inches, because I already cut out a bunch of cardstock, ack!!!!! Thanks if you can respond. If you want to email me, my email is elizabethanndawson@ymail.com . I am anxiously awaiting either my order or an answer :>((( Thanks alot!
Thanks for the download Nichole. I haven’t ordered my stuff yet, but plan on getting the notepads. As for the movie, I saw it Sunday with my almost 6 year old and 4 year old, and I would agree it was a bit disappointing. It was very dark for kids, not at all what we expected. The message is great, but way over their heads. A bit bleak for me, I like lots of color and a REALLY happy ending, the ending frustrated me. I loved the monster costumes though. OK, enough for my critics review ๐
Hi Nicole,
We saw the movie this weekend and thought it was awful and so violent! I was ashamed as a parent of a 4 year old that we even stayed to watch the whole movie. Our boy was board and my husband and I came out of there depressed! That poor birds wing! Just what I want my boy to see, another boy biting his mom! Awful, horrible, just don’t go to see this movie if you haven’t already! Wouldn’t you agree?
Should I print the notepad cover template at the size shown,or resize? The first one I printed looked small.
Thanks!
Would you like to be part of an art swap? You only send out one goodie…
fire me an email and let me know;

Thanks for the PS about Take Note stamp set…I wasn’t quick enough with my stamp order(LOL!)and am waiting for Take Note to be restocked…can’t wait.
Love the downloads too…my paper pads are on their way…can’t wait to get them and start playing.
So lovely of you to have the pattern ready for download! Thank you.
My husband took me to see the movie. I haven’t read the book before (didn’t grow up in the States), but I think the movie was powerful. Not for children though. My husband, who could identify with some things the boy went through, was very touched.
Thanks for the template.
I saw the movie and I was also disappointed. I didnt like it at all, not because it wasn’t “like the book” It was just dark, depressing, and really lacked a cohesive storyline. It moved SLOW and was boring. Cinematically it was a beautiful movie, but that alone could not save it for me. My twins are 4 and they were not scared of it, but they didn’t love it.
hi nichole,
i just received my pti order. i was so very excited to get all of my beautiful new stuff. i look forward to your release every month.
i printed out the template for the notepads that you created for us. the template is smaller than the notepads. i do not know what i am doing wrong.any ideas?
thanks again,
nancy
I don’t know if I did something wrong, but this template did not fit the new notepads. The notepade are 8 inches long and the template measures 7 5/8 (or there abouts).
However, the notepads are so darn cute and I can hardly wait to make the adjustment and get to get started!
To those of you whose templates are printing smaller than 8 inches tall: in the print dialog box, check on the left hand side where it says Page Scaling. If it says “shrink to printable area” your template will print too small. Change it to “none” and your template will print in the correct size. Hope this helps!
Thank you!
Is the download no longer available?? I can’t seem to get either one to work for me. ๐
Does anyone have the notepad cover with pocket template in svg format?
