TIPS: 

  • String a row of stars together in a variety of colors and sizes.  Tie them down the side of your card.
  • Before removing your stencil, add tiny droplets of Distress Spritz.  This helps keep the splatters of specific areas on your stenciled design.

  • Here’s a chance to play with different shaped sequins,  like stars,  just as I’ve done here.

  • Stormy Sea ink provides a softer alternative for sentiments than True Black.  Give it a try!

  • Try turning your Love to Layer:  Whimsy die cut horizontally.  This gives you more surface area for your focal point.
  • Combine stripes and polka dots to create a variety of patterns and balance.

  • Try playing off sentiments, such as I’ve done here by adding hearts to highlight my sentiment.
  • Use small patterns when you’re dealing with small die cuts.  The Bitty Big line of paper comes in all Papertrey Ink colors with big and little patterns.

    I’m going to have to go with the very first card “America the Beautiful’ by Melissa Philips. Besides the beautiful design, it brings me back 50 yrs ago spending the Bicentennial at Disneyland in CA. After the fireworks, everyone in the park sang that song. It’s my favorite patriotic song.
