Hi everybody, welcome to our new feature What do I do with this? For this challenge our designers will get to try out some of these new tools and share the projects they created using them. We’ve got some fun, new things coming to the Papertrey Ink store and our designers will show you how to use them so you’ll be comfortable incorporating them into your card-making and gift-giving. Stay tuned for exciting and creative things coming your way! We want to share what our designers love with you, and this gives you a first-hand look into their crafty-faves!
Let’s get started!
Have you heard of the Tim Holtz Distress Crayon sets? We’ve got them in the Papertrey Ink store now and I couldn’t wait to use them. They are so much fun and completely full of creative possibilities. My card today uses these lovely crayons and I am quite happy with the results. They have a beautiful, shimmer and glow to them.
I started by cutting the Cover Plate: Trellis from Stamper’s Select White cardstock. I didn’t cut it entirely through though, because I wanted to enhance the details of this die using the distress crayons.
I lightly added swirls of yellow and gold crayons across my Trellis base. I then used a soft paper towel to smudge and smear the crayon over the entire surface and into the grooves of the die cut. To create a bit of an aged look, I added silver and a bit of bronze colored crayons and once again used a paper towel to smudge and bring out the details of the lovely Trellis cover plate.
You’ll notice that it’s a very subtle finish, but it’s got a fun, shabby, mixed media feel to it. I added die cut and stamped Effortless Beauties flowers to make my card feminine and soft. I used the frame from the Scene Everywhere: Winter stamp and die set, cutting it from Soft Stone cardstock and heat embossing it use Gold Filagree embossing powder, which can also be found in our store.
I can’t wait to see how else I can use these fun new products with my favorite Papertrey Ink supplies. Enjoy!
