Hi everybody, welcome to our next episode of The Great Cover-Up! This weekly feature is all about using pigment type inks. Amy will be your guide today!
Let’s get started!
By the first of August I find myself transitioning my crafting to Fall. I’m always ready to work with the beautiful rich colors of fall and start thinking about the fall holidays. Using touches of gold is one of favorite ways to add warmth to a project.
My card is created with the Leaves in Fall Stamp Set and Dies. I stamped the leaves in Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado Inks. Then I splattered the leaves with gold paint. I die cut a gold frame with the Border Bling: Skinny Diagonals Frame Die and wrapped gold twine around the branches. I finished off with a few gold jewels.
DIES: Leaves in Fall, Border Bling: Skinny Diagonals Frame, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circle Die
INK: Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Aqua Mist, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink
PAPER: Classic Kraft, Bitty Big: Aqua Mist Color Collection, Vintage Cream, Gold Cardstock, Stamper’s Select White
OTHER: Gold Jewels, Gold Twine, Foam Tape, Glue
I’m so over this heat and summer in general and so ready for fall. Making fall cards in the middle of hot summer helps me to survive this season and prepare my mood for the next exciting one.
To make the card background I selected a couple of most autumn-y looking leaves from the Sweet Celebration and Into the Blooms II Die Sets, made several die cuts out of a watercolor paper and adhered it onto a watercolor panel. I also framed the panel using the Border Bling: Skinny Embossed Frame Die.
Next I watercolored the background using yellow, red, orange and green colors. I did quite basic watercoloring, which most of the time doesn’t look quite pretty in my case. To elevate it and make to look more interesting I added a lot of splatters of the same watercolor paints I used for coloring as well as white and black sprays.
The sentiment I made using the Perfect Pairs: Commodities Stamp and Die Set. I popped it onto the card placing a gold thread underneath.
As finishing touches I added several enamel dots matching the background areas the were placed onto.
PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Perfect Match: True Black
DIES: Perfect Pairs: Commodities, Sweet Celebration, Into the Blooms II, Border Bling: Skinny Embossed Frame
OTHER: Watercolor Paper, Watercolor Pants, Dye Inks, Gold Thread, Enamel Dots
