Hi everybody, welcome to our new feature What do I do with this?  For this challenge our designers will get to try out some of these new tools and share the projects they created using them.  We’ve got some fun, new things coming to the Papertrey Ink store and our designers will show you how to use them so you’ll be comfortable incorporating them into your card-making and gift-giving.  Stay tuned for exciting and creative things coming your way!  We want to share what our designers love with you, and this gives you a first-hand look into their crafty-faves!

This month we are working with WOW embossing powders which are now available  in the store.  Click HERE to see the selection of WOW embossing powders we are now carrying!

Let’s get started!

I’ve always thought heat embossing was such an amazing technique.  I can still remember watching the embossing powder melt for the first time!  Step things up to modern day, my card was totally inspired by this fun color of embossing powder from WOW! called Sunburst.  It has little bit of yellow, pink, and orange in it.

The cake was stamped, die cut, and the detail layer was embossed with the Sunburst embossing powder.  This gave a fun spin on the layers!  The cake was embellished with florals, leaves, swag, and sparkler images (that the centers were also embossed with Sunburst WOW! Embossing Powder) from the Cake Please stamp set.

Nothing screams birthday like a bright colorful cake!  So the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment was heat embossed with the Metallic Silver Ultra High WOW! Embossing Powder.  This powder is chunkier and give a full embossed look.  TIP:  With this type of embossing powder, make sure to emboss from the underside of your paper.  The cake was assembled and added to an impressed background done using the Border Bling: Dainty Deliveries Frame Die.
