Melissa Phillips brings soft color and cheerful texture to her Brighter Days Card, a fresh floral design filled with layered blooms and delicate details. 🌸✨ Using a mix of Into the Blooms: Coneflowers and Anemone, she creates a vibrant arrangement that pops beautifully against the subtle stenciled Script background and cover plate texture. The addition of patterned paper layers, soft seam binding, and splattered accents adds depth and movement, while the heartfelt sentiment ties everything together with a warm, uplifting touch.
Melissa shares, “Mixing and matching flowers and leaves from Papertrey Ink’s Into the Blooms collections is a fun way to add some variety to your cards and stretch your supplies. Follow along as I share how I did just that on my card today.”
STEP 1: Cut cover plate from white cardstock. Stencil upper portion with Script stencil.
STEP 2: Cut bracket from patterned paper.
STEP 3: Cut smaller bracket from white paper. Layer over bottom bracket, wrap with seam binding and tie in a bow on right.
STEP 4: Adhere to card front panel and add ink blended Coneflowers and Anemone leaves.
STEP 5: Die cut and stamp sentiment and add to card.
STEP 6: Finish with adhesive pearls and Crystal Stickles Glitter.
This project is a lovely reminder that combining different floral elements can create a design that feels both unique and full of life. 💕 From the layered brackets and stenciled background to the ink blended blooms and subtle shimmer, every detail works together beautifully.
Whether you’re creating a card to brighten someone’s day or simply experimenting with your stash, this design offers plenty of inspiration to mix, match, and make it your own.

Hi Melissa (and PTI), Your cards are gorgeous! Thank you for the step-by-step process for this card design. I would also LOVE to see you in action with your ink blending. It looks like you use watercolor in most of her card designs. I also see a lot of sparkle from maybe shimmer spray or glitter glue. I would LOVE to see you in action on a video and explain how you achieve the perfect color combination and ink blending on your cards. That combined with your signature ribbon creates some of the prettiest cards that I have ever seen! You are So talented! Thank you for the gorgeous inspiration!

Melissa, again your creation is spectacular. I’m curious about the ribbon/bow. You called the product seam binding. Is this the same product used in sewing? I’d buy in the notions dept in a fabric store? Would you consider making a how-to video on how you make that beautiful bow?
