The Great Cover-Up

Hi everybody, welcome to our next episode of The Great Cover-Up!  This weekly feature is all about adding layers and dimension to cards and also how to combine older products with newer products. Today Melody and Kavya are your guides in The Great Cover-Up so enjoy!

Let’s get started!

My Great Cover-Up Project today is all about ways to add layers and dimension to a card for visual interest. I built the card around the “Sending Sunshine” sentiment from the Brighter Days Stamp Set.
First I created the bouquet of flowers with the Brighter Days Stamps and Dies.  I created the frame with the Border Bling: Skinny Diagonals Frame dies.  I added foam tape to the back of the frame to add dimension.
To create the background I masked off a circle and blended Bright Buttercup Ink to create the sun. I blended Lemon Tart and Simply Chartreuse Ink on the rest of background and splattered white paint. I thought one of my paint splatters was to big so I added a clear drop to cover it up!

STAMPS: Brighter Days
DIES: Brighter Days, Border Bling: Skinny Diagonals Frame Die
INK:  Bright Buttercup, Simply Chartreuse, Amethyst Allure, Lemon Tart, Blue Berry, Versamark
PAPER: Lilac Grace, Stampers Select White, True Black
OTHER: White Embossing Powder, Clear Drops, Foam Tape, White Paint

This started off as a quick video on how I (try to!) color life like birds using colored pencils and also how to combine newer products with older releases…. but true to the title, I ended up showing you all the ways in which I cover my mistakes like stray paint marks and a smudgy bird’s tail! Check out the video here to see how to recreate this card and some clever ways to hide your happy mistakes!
