I was fortunate to have many great teachers over the years and I was fortunate to discover PTI a few years back. I love learning from the design team.

I think favorite subject would be a draw between English and History. I love reading, and our English teacher had a vast resource of fantastic historical fiction to make up for the dry teaching of the history teachers (interestingly, my love of history was probably developed over the kitchen table in discussions after dinner … and yet, he was one of the dry history teachers! Or was it that it was not cool to seem interested in history at school?)

In 1965, when I was in 8th grade, I asked if I could take a couple of what were then called “shop” classes instead of having a “free period”. These were traditional boy’s classes, and no girl at my school had ever asked to take them before. ( And no boy had ever requested “home-ec” classes.) I wasn’t trying to be a trend setter; the classes just seemed to be interesting and I wanted to see what they were about. So my adviser said, well, I don’t see any reason that you can’t. So I took Graphic Arts and Drafting. My girlfriends thought I was crazy. No other girls requested the classes, and years later it was a big deal for girls to “break into” these classes and for the boys to take Home Ec. At first they had to get special permission and eventually all classes were made available to all students. I absolutely loved the classes. I didn’t go to college until 8 years after high school graduation. But guess what. When I was 32 years old, one of the Purdue University deans handed me my engineering diploma! I spent my second career as an engineer at a company that makes gas turbine engines for land, sea, and air, and sells them all over the world. 🙂

I use math in my job almost daily though so it’s fine. I work with some other folks who are not always good at math, so it’s nice to be able to catch mistakes etc. before things are finalized and save us all some embarrassment. I always liked Language Arts and have grown to LOVE them! There are nouns and verbs to create sentences and we embellish those with adverbs and adjectives. There’s fun for your tongue with onomatopoeia, palindromes and rhymes. There’s the feeling of accomplisment when you correctly spell a challenging word. Then there is the ART of penmanship as the letters flow from your pen. For me, language Arts has it all!

Favorite? oh I’m torn between, English – love to read, and write, but really didn’t like Shakespeare! – and Geography! because I’d love to have the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world, to discover the different climates, and customs! Well, that’s not going to happen… so I’m sticking with my first choice: English!
I’ll also tell you that Betsy’s gorgeous English rose has stolen my heart this release!

And physics- first because the teacher was amazing (seriously, other students that hated school would specially opt for physics because of this teacher), and secondly, it was kind of interesting learning about the forces of the universe

There are many things I really like in this release – the teacher items and the cool shape-shifter oval die, and the diagonal cover plate. The globes are fantastic, too, and of course Betsy’s floral stamp set is a must have, and I don’t truly need another flower set ever. The DT is so talented.

I was most fond of English until I had art classes in high school. Those two subjects remain my favorites even today. I love combining the two to make little artworks in paper crafting. The many beautiful frames we are seeing suit my card making taste to a tee! I love framing a heartfelt sentiment and embellishing it with flowers.

Then in high school I took drama and singing and joined the clubs. I still dabbled in drawing and painting. Got the crafting bug and took up knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and sewing. I grown to love cooking and think of it as another form of art at times.

Art has been my favorite thing do since I can remember. After getting my degree in Art School I became an abstract painter, also taught adult painting classes in the schools. Always active in some form of creativity, but I would never had dreamt that I would be using stamps, designed by talented others, to make my fun. But fun it is, and also a challenge to put some of myself into each final creation.

My favorite subject in school was anything science related. Math, biology, chemistry, physics. It was all so fascinating. Who am I kidding, it is still fascinating to me! I enjoy the challenge of learning new things, and I will never run out of things to master. I wanted to be a marine biologist, an archeologist, a paleontologist, and a veterinarian. ALL of them. Not just one. Instead, I am an ER nurse, lol. My #3 child was born when I was 20, and we discovered that he had a heart condition that caused him to nearly die when he was just 9 days old, without warning. Had we not been in the clinic when the event happened, and the doctor had not called for a helicopter with a pediatric cardiologist and NICU nurse on board, my son would not be the amazing 26 year old man he is today. When I saw the amazingly complex and life altering things a nurse could do, that changed my life course. Nursing is now who I am. It combines so many of the things that embody how we can help our fellow man, even when it is hard, and unappreciated, ugly and gross. Science is not a cold and hard topic to me. It is a tool to better all lives. Especially when we combine it with the compassion, skill, and ingenuity of the human spirit.

In elementary school my favorite subject was grammar/English, and in high school my favorite subjects were biology and chemistry, because biochemistry fascinates me. Math, particularly algebra, gets an honorable mention too; I love its logic and how it presents complexity simply. Always love the 15th! My favorite subject throughout most of school was always Social Studies. Then in college, I realized I loved math. Still do. Numbers are my favorite. I was the “girl” in all my college math classes that the “guys” hated because anything with numbers came so easily to me and I usually aced the tests. I thought it was fun!
