I like to keep a file of fun small containers to make that just require a little paper & glue. Here is one that I just recently came up with that recycles toilet paper rolls! You can get three baskets per roll! These little baskets can hold candy or another special treat. They make great centerpieces, favors or gifts. Customize them to suit your theme or the recipients color scheme!
Supplies:
Toilet paper roll tube
Super Jumbo Scalloped Circle Punch
Scalloped scissors
Brads
Instructions:
- Cut toilet paper tube into thirds. Feel free to flatten it to do so.
- Cut strips of cardstock to wrap around outside & inside. Adhere.
- Punch scalloped circle from cardstock. Apply bead of clear drying glue around bottom of paper-covered tube. Press firmly onto scalloped circle. (You may want to weight it down with something, such as a book, while it is drying.)
- Cut a strip of cardstock for the handle. Mat and trim with scalloped scissors. Attach to basket bottom with brads.
- As a finishing touch, add a tag tied with ribbon.

LOL! I just had to laugh when I saw you were using toilet paper rolls. That’s what my mom used to give me to craft with. I ended up making all sorts of things, but mostly I remember my “famous” napkin ring holders!

Hello Nicole,
I love your creativity and your tutorial on Nestabilities for the CB was very helpful. I just received my first set and tried out several of the circle shapes. When I try to emboss the circles they seem to not completely emboss and it looks like on two opposing sides the embossing is not crisp. Do I have defective nestabilites or is it the “fault” of the cuttlebug? Has anybody ever mentioned this? Thank you

What a fun project! Is there any way to get a printable version of your projects? I copy and paste to a MS Word document, but sometimes it takes a good bit of fiddling. Thanks!
Nancy,
I’m sorry, that just won’t be possible. I already invest a lot of my time into preparing blog posts and do not have enough additional time to also prepare it in a second format. I apologize if this is an inconvenience for you.

The little girl and the mother of the home that I rent a room in are taking me up on my offer to teach them about papercrafting. It had to be something for a novice adult and a 7 yr old very artistic child. So, I had saved this for ME to make Christmas candy baskets for her school but then I forgot! So tomorrow I will use this technique to introduce them to OUR world. It is a delightful project. Your site is one of my very favorites. I plan to make a spot of it on my blog. Thanks for all you do and for sharing. I know that papercrafting people are some of the best and kindest people in the world. That is why I feel we are A Stroke Above! http://astrokeabove.blogspot.com/ It started out to be a card blog but evolved into one where I hope to eventually help someone in need of a friend with a “like” problem. It is all about being told you are going to die, but you didn’t. It creates a whole other set of problems….Pass it on if you know someone in need of someone to talk to and pray with. God bless you!

This is awesome. What size roll did you use. I just made one and mine looks so much smaller. Did you use the jumbo roll. I only used the single roll.
