Kelly Lunceford celebrates the cozy feeling of autumn with this charming Sweater Weather Card. Rich shades of plum and pink create a beautiful backdrop for a layered knit-inspired sweater, while colorful foliage and berry accents bring warmth and texture to the design. The crochet-inspired patterns, delicate heart embellishment, and gold-embossed sentiment add thoughtful details that make this card perfect for the season.
Kelly shares, “Most often when I start a card design, I don’t always have a specific sentiment in mind. This card idea was completely the opposite; I have been wanting to use this cute sentiment and decided to create a card inspired by it. You could definitely switch up the colors and make it a winter card if you’ve already moved on from autumn!”
STEP 1: Prepare a 5“ x 7“ Vintage Cream card base. Adhere the frame cut from Scarlet Jewel card stock using foam squares.
STEP 2: Stencil the crochet pattern onto a die cut panel of Autumn Rose cardstock using Scarlet Jewel ink. Glue it to the card base using liquid glue.
STEP 3: Cut the hat and all of the accent pieces. Add ink blending as well as the crochet pattern to the top of the hat. Assemble the hat using foam squares and liquid glue. Adhere it to the card front using foam squares for dimension.
STEP 4: Heat emboss the sentiment and cut it out. Add it to the card front with foam squares.
STEP 5: Cut and color all of the leaves. Spritz them with distress spritz and allow them to dry. Arrange them around the hat using foam squares and liquid glue.
STEP 6: Add glitter to the foliage and sequins to the dot details on the hat.
This cozy design is a wonderful way to celebrate sweater weather and the changing seasons. ✨ The layered sweater, stitched details, colorful leaves, and sparkling accents come together to create a card full of warmth and personality. Try experimenting with different color combinations and seasonal foliage to make this design your own, or follow Kelly’s suggestion and give it a winter-inspired twist. It’s a fun way to bring your favorite cozy-season details into your handmade cardmaking!
