STENCIL: Brushstrokes Stencil Collection
CARDSTOCK: Stampers’ Select White, True Black, Dark Chocolate, Classic Kraft, New Leaf, Orange Zest, Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores
INK: Dark Chocolate
OTHER: Foam Tabs Distress Oxide Ink: Broken China, Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Bee Creative Precision Glue, Metallic Gold cardstock, Epoxy self-adhesive dots

TIPS: 

  • Use a highlighter / light sticky tape to keep all the pieces of the “Dad” die together to keep them straight as you alternate the stripes’ colors. This helps keep pieces in the correct order. 
  • Use foam tabs behind the focal elements to make them stand out from the background.
  • Hand cut the stenciled background leaving a small white border around the stencil and layer over a white card base for a more interesting layered look on the front. 
  • Mimic the colors of the stripes in the stenciled background on the “Dad” die stripes for a unified look.

TIPS: 

  • Replace one of the words in your stamped sentiment with a die-cut.
  • Add shading to each side of the trees with a small blending brush to add dimension to the trees.
  • Add a vellum panel behind your sentiment to make it stand out from the background.

    Kelly’s Dad card speaks to me personally. It evokes a scientific vibe with the paperclip, paper and shading. It brings back wonderful memories of my father who was a microbiologist and professor. During his early career, he worked in the jungle of Colombia, South America so the shading and paper just fits. Thanks Kelly for bringing back such wonderful memories.

    I really love Kelly Lunceford’s use of the Birch stencil. Love the ombre colors, and her use of the sentiments with the floral die cuts. Birch trees are used a lot in winter themes, so it’s nice to see a summery take on it.
    Also love Melissa’s use of the Dad and Briefcase stamp/die; love the burgundy color and the vintage textures
