Project Inspiration: Beautiful in Every Way Card by Melissa Phillips

Melissa Phillips pairs soft florals with beautiful texture in her Blooming Beauties birthday card, creating a design that feels both delicate and dimensional. 🌸✨ By stenciling over embossed cardstock, she adds subtle depth and personality to the background, allowing the Pale Peony and Scarlet Jewel blooms to truly shine. A strip of patterned paper, scrunched seam binding, and layered scalloped shapes bring extra charm, while the heartfelt sentiment takes center stage in the sweetest way.

Melissa shares, “Have you tried stenciling over embossed or pierced cardstock? It’s a fun way to add even more texture and personality. Follow along as I’ve used this technique on today’s card.”

SUPPLIES:

STAMPS:  Blooming Beauties
INK:  Pale Peony, Scarlet Jewel, Olive Twist, Simply Chartreuse, Pinefeather
PAPER:  Stamper’s Select White
DIES:  In the Pocket, Blooming Beauties, Cover Plate:  Quilted, Love to Layer:  Playful Scallops, Love to Layer:  Delightful Brackets
STENCILS:  Baby’s Breath
OTHER:  patterned paper, scrunched seam binding, sequins, Fired Brick Distress Spritz, Stickles Crystal Glitter

STEP 1: Die cut white background and emboss using Quilted die.  Stencil with Baby’s Breath stencil.

STEP 2: Cut a strip of patterned paper to fit across center of card and adhere in place.

STEP 3: Wrap seam binding around card and tie in bow on left.  Cut scalloped oval from patterned paper and adhere to center of card.

STEP 4: Stamp flowers and adhere to center of card.  Stamp sentiment on oval and adhere over stems of flowers. Embellish with sequins and Stickles glitter to finish.

This project is a lovely reminder that combining texture with soft color can transform a simple birthday greeting into something truly special. 💕 From the quilted, stenciled background to the layered florals and sparkling embellishments, every detail works together beautifully. Whether you’re celebrating a friend or family member, let this design inspire you to experiment with texture and thoughtful layering in your own handmade cards.
