Project Inspiration: Magic of the Season Card by Melissa Phillips

November 2, 2025      Winnie Cate Ignacio      3 Comments

Melissa Phillips brings a fresh twist to traditional Christmas crafting with her Magic of the Season card. With bright aqua tones, soft pink layers, and glimmering accents, this design captures the playful side of the holidays while still feeling elegant and festive. Every detail, from the foiled stars to the layered poinsettia, adds a touch of shimmer and warmth to her merry creation.

Melissa shares, “Aqua trees for Christmas? Why yes, please! Christmas has no limits when it comes to color combinations, so for my card today, I’ve chosen colors merry and bright to bring in the holiday festivities. I’ve also used two different hot foil plates to add extra shimmer, shine, and pattern. Follow along as I walk you through my process.”

SUPPLIES:

STAMPS: Nutcracker Magic
INK: Olive Twist, Hibiscus Burst, Simply Chartreuse, Pinefeather, Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise
PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Sweet Blush, Sheer Basics Vellum, Hawaiian Shores
DIES: Serene Evergreens, Nutcracker Magic, In Frames:  Ovals, Rounded Rectangles:  Stitched, Into the Blooms:  Poinsettias, Into the Blooms:  Swag
HOT FOIL PLATES: Silent Night, Cascading Stars
OTHER: Aqua foil, sequins, Fossilized Amber and Lumberjack Plaid Distress Spritz, Crystal Stickles glitter

STEP 1: Create card base from white cardstock using the Cascading Stars Hot Foil Plate and aqua foil.

STEP 2: Cut a Sweet Blush oval and adhere to the center of card.

STEP 3: Cut a vellum stitched rectangle and adhere to the center of card.

STEP 4: Cut a solid Serene Evergreen from white cardstock and a second from Hawaiian Shores cardstock, hot foiled using the Silent Night Hot Foil Plate.  Assemble and adhere to the right of center.

STEP 5: Ink blend die cut poinsettia and holly leaves, add water droplets and spritz with Distress Sprits. Assemble and adhere to evergreen.

STEP 6: Add die cut berries, stamped sentiment and star, and adhesive pearls to center of poinsettia.

Melissa’s card is a wonderful reminder that creativity shines brightest when you make the season your own. 🌟
