Project Inspiration: Fall Harvest Topiary by Bobbi Lemanski

Hello again, friends! Bobbi here with a fresh, green topiary for fall. I always love a topiary and when I saw this release, I just knew I had to make one using the dies from a couple of the new sets. For this card, I’m using the following Papertrey Ink products from the August release:

This is Big Sentiments: Fall Harvest stamps and coordinating dies

Elegant Edges: Pumpkin Die

Perfectly Potted dies

Fall Blessings Dies

This card is 5″ X 7″ and uses a white card base made from Stamper’s Select White cardstock. True Black Ink was used for all the black ink stamping. Here are the step-by-step details for creating this card.

STEP 1: Die cut the Elegant Edges: Pumpkin die from a 5″ X 7″ piece of Soft Stone cardstock. Use the top border die to die cut the top off the cardstock piece. Hand snip the sides of the die cut to reach the 5″ width. Remove the cut pieces and the top border. Die cut a 5″ X 7″ front panel piece from Terracotta Tile cardstock. Adhere the two pieces together.

STEP 2: Die cut four wreaths using the die from the Fall Blessings Dies out of  Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado cardstock. Using the same colors, die cut one leafy insert for the pot, one from both green colors. Die cut the two pieces of the pot (base and collar) from Melon Berry cardstock. Attach them together.

Using a blender brush, blend on Rusty Hinge and Ripe Persimmon to the pot to make it look more like clay. Start from the sides, leaving the melon berry to show through in the center of the pot. Sprinkle on some water and pull ink up by blotting the water with a paper towel. Optional: Splatter on some yellow watercolor paint for more splotchiness.

STEP 3:  Stamp “Blessings” on the clay pot’s collar using Dark Chocolate ink. Highlight the inside of the letters using a white gel pen. Use a white gel pen to add some specks of white to the clay pot.

Attach the leaves to the pot. Using a paper cutter, cut a 1/8″  piece of Dark Chocolate for the topiary stem. Attach it to the back of the leafy greens in the pot at the center.

Layer the wreath die cuts, offsetting each one just a little to make the wreath fuller looking. Place the lightest green wreath at the top of the stack. Glue together. Attach it to the top of the chocolate stem.

STEP 4: Attach the topiary to the front panel, layering it so that the topiary wreath circles the pumpkin on the panel. Add peach and maroon pearl gem stickers to the topiary for berries. Add specks of black around the post using a fine-tip black marker, along with some shading to “ground” the pot on the soft stone cardstock. Use a warm gray or  W4 and W2 Copic Sketch Marker to do this.

STEP 5: Stamp the “fall harvest” using Dark Chocolate ink and Americana ink. Die cut the words using the coordinating dies. Attach the words to the base of the wreath. Attach the completed front panel to a 5″ X 7″ white card base made from Stamper’s Select White cardstock.
