Hi friends! This is Bobbi Lemanski sharing a sweet baby card featuring new items from the Papertrey Ink May 2025 release. This was such a fun card to make because it is all about frills, flowers and fun layers! All three make for a sweet and happy baby card.
I’m using the following new Papertrey Ink products:
(From the May Release)
This is Big Sentiments: Baby stamps and coordinating dies
(From prior releases)
Love to Layer: Stitched Circle dies (bow only)
Love to Layer: Scalloped Ovals dies
My card measures 5″ X 7″ and is made from Papertrey Ink’s Stamper’s Select white cardstock for the base and front panel layers. All black ink stamping is done using True Black ink. Here’s the details…
To create this 5″ X 7″ baby card, I started with a 10″ X 7″ piece of white cardstock and scored it down the middle to create a 5″ X 7″, A7 card base. I added small white flowers to the base layer by diecutting that cute flower from the In Stitches: Onesie Die set. The white on white look is so clean and sweet for the background. Next, I die cut another white layer using the Cover Plate: Geo Flowers die and attached that to the base. Yes, it’s all white-on-white, but isn’t it sweet?! Now comes the color… I added a scalloped oval to frame the onesie using the biggest oval from the set, Love to Layer: Scalloped Ovals. I cut this from Aqua Mist cardstock and attached it.
To create the onesie, I die cut the main shape, collar, tutu, and more flowers from more Stamper’s Select white cardstock. I wanted to add a print to the onesie so I used Copic Sketch Markers in shades of blue to make the rosebud pattern. This could be done with any markers, however. This is very simple to do and actually a lot of fun. Here’s the technique laid out.
Steps for creating the rosebuds:
(1) A simple dot of color is the first layer of the rosebud using the lightest shade of blue color. I used a Copic Sketch Marker, B00. (2) I added soft curved lines over the first layer using a B02. (3) Using B05, a darker color, I added more curved lines for petals. (4) I added white highlights to the rose. (5 & 6) Simple leaves/greenery around the buds in green completes the look.
Note: For my rosebuds, I used just one green color in YG13 instead of steps 5 and 6 above.
With the rosebuds completed, I added the frilly collar, and two levels of tutu. I embellished the top layer of the tutu with small blue dots to complement the rosebuds. I also stamped in Hibiscus Burst Ink, and die cut the “Baby” sentiment using the This is Big Sentiments: Baby stamps and coordinating dies. I attached the word using foam tabs to make it stand out from the onesie. The rest of the design was created by die cutting hearts, stars and flowers from the onesie set to complement the one-piece outfit. I added some rosebuds, polka dots and shading to the sweet blush flowers to blend with the onesie. I used my white gel pen to add highlights, too. Lastly, I added a white bow to the top of the scalloped oval using the pretty bow die from the Love to Layer: Stitched Circle dies.
