When it comes to holiday cards, We’re all about combining simplicity and style. With so many cards to send to friends and family, finding a design that’s easy to make but still sophisticated is key. This week’s card ticks all the boxes!
Amazing designer Bobbi Lemanski (@bobbihartdesign) used classic blue tones, but you can adapt this design to any two-color combination for a truly personalized look.
Follow along with these step-by-step instructions to craft this beautiful holiday card that’s sure to impress!
Step 1: Prep Your Card Base
Start with Stamper’s Select White cardstock and cut it into a 10” x 7” piece. Fold it in half to create a 5” x 7” A7-sized card base.
Cut four 1” x 5” strips from Soft Stone cardstock to create the background. Attach one strip at the very top of your card base. Using an extra strip as a spacer, adhere the second strip below the spacer. Repeat until all four strips are attached, leaving three exposed spaces of white cardstock in between.
Step 2: Stamp and Die-Cut Your Ornament Elements
Using Blueberry Sky ink, stamp the top portion of the “Peace on Earth” ornament. Then, use Royal Velvet ink to stamp the bottom portion. Die cut the ornament.
Next, stamp the holly with scrolls using Blueberry Sky ink. Add Royal Velvet to the lower edges of the holly leaves for depth and die cut the image. Stamp and die cut the ornament chain using Weathervane ink.
Step 3: Create Die-Cut Greenery
Die cut three evergreen branches from Royal Velvet cardstock using the Into the Blooms: Christmas Sprigs Die Set. Then, cut two leafy branches from Blueberry Sky cardstock to complement the design.
Step 4: Assemble Your Card
Attach the chain in the center of the card, aligning it with the top edge. Use foam tabs to secure the ornament so that its top slightly overlaps the chain’s bottom. Arrange and adhere the greenery at the top of the ornament, layering the holly/scrolls image to cover the branch edges for a polished look.
Add gem stickers or rhinestones in place of berries, scattering a few additional gems around the ornament for sparkle. Finally, use a watercolor fan brush to splatter white paint over the card for a frosty, wintery effect.
A Card for Every Color Palette
This design is perfect for any two-color combination. While I used blues for this card, I’ve also made a stunning teal version. Imagine it in reds and greens, golds and silvers, or even bold modern hues—let your creativity shine!
