Welcome to our final day of the May Countdown.  Here at Papertrey Ink it’s our passion to bring you designs that you will love creating with.  If you like a more simple style, every product we release has elements that can take center stage to create a simple, yet designed, focal point.  If you like a little more detail, we pack each set with as many images as possible so you have the freedom to create exactly what you want.  Each of our newly released products can be used in many different ways to fit your particular style, and we can’t wait to show you how they come to life!

I can’t believe it’s the last day of the countdown, I have loved seeing all of our new products come to life through each designer’s creative touch.  It’s literally my favorite time of the month when all of the designers begin submitting their projects.  Our new Suited for Summer Stamp Set, coupled with the Suited for Summer Stencil Collection will quickly become a favorite in your collection.  This combination of images will be so fun to create with, you won’t be able to put it down!  I haven’t had a second to create with it, but I already have tons of ideas of how I’m going to use it for all of my summer birthdays, thinking of yous and wedding card!  I definitely want to get out the So Cherry Sweet Stencils and add that design to the swim trunks!  I am going to create a rainbow bathing suit because that would be too cute, and I’m going to use our Show Your Stripes Stencil Collection to create a matching bathing suit and trunks card for a friend of mine that is getting married on the beach!  I can’t wait!

Kelly is our feature designer for the Suited for Summer Stamp Set and this is the design that gave me the idea for the wedding card I’ll be creating.  Isn’t this card amazing?!  It looks like the store front of Tommy Bahama!  It’s so classy and beautiful, and the colors are just perfect.  To create the frames, Kelly used the Wood Plank Background Stamp Set (did you think you could get so much use out of that background stamp?  It’s pretty fabulous!) and the Border Bling: Skinny Embossed Frame (a must-have).  The flowers she used our from our Into the Blooms: Geraniums die.  I absolutely adore this card and can’t wait to make my own rendition of it!

Kelly’s next card is just as stunning and includes the Suited for Summer Stencil Collection, as well as the Shoreline Finds Hot Foil Plate.  Again, I just love all of the little details that may not stick out when you first see a card but adds to the overall design in such a special way.

Kelly starts this card with a Raspberry Fizz card base which really enhances the design of the card.  She then added the stenciled layer using our new Suited for Summer Stencil Collection.  For the next layer, she hot foiled a piece of Pale Peony cardstock with our new Shoreline Finds Hot Foil Plate and die cut it with the Reflections: March die (so cute!).  The next layer is white and cut with the smaller Reflections: March die.  And finally, the adorable items from Suited for Summer and some small blooms from our new Into the Blooms: Violets to finish it off.  This card was thoughtfully designed by Kelly and shows just how talented she truly is!

Kelly’s final project reminds me of floating in a pool, all we need now is a floatie (hmmm)!

I love how she started off using the Pool Water Stencil Collection.  It’s one of my favorites because I love to swim.  It reminds me of when I was young, I swam at the neighbor’s pool daily and we had so much fun.  Marco Polo was my favorite pool-time game!  Okay, back to Kelly’s fantastic card!  Next, she used the Border Bling: Skinny Postage Frames to create a boundary for the pool she created and then added all of those wonderful images from the Suited for Summer Stamp Set.  It’s absolutely perfect!

TIPS:

  • Find inspiration anywhere; this card was inspired by some art pieces I saw on Etsy!
  • Frame the individual bathing suits for something unexpected!
  • Use pattern paper as a background for detail and interest

TIPS:

  • You don’t always have to use hot foil plates for backgrounds; try using them as a matt layer
  • I ended up covering up my favorite bathing suit on the stenciled panel, so I decided to re-create that same look for the focal point

TIPS:

  • Add shimmer spray to the stenciled panel to make the water look shimmery!
  • Add Nuvo Crystal Glaze over the top of the sunglasses for a realistic effect

Nina brings our final day of the countdown to a close with this beautiful project using Shoreline Finds.  This card is so beautiful, and I love everything about it!

To create the background, Nina hot foiled a piece of Stamper’s Select White Cardstock with our Shoreline Finds Hot Foil Plate.  She then ink blended those beautiful colors together, creating a gorgeous background for her birthday sentiment.  Her background reminds me of snorkeling in the British Virgin Islands.  We went on a catamaran trip and I promise you, the water looked just like this when we were snorkeling.  That was a once in a lifetime trip and this brings back those memories so vividly!  Sidetracked!  =)  Anyway, I love how she used the Cover Plate: Cross Stitched as a mat for her sentiment, that just adds the perfect amount of texture to complete the card along with the bow, twine, and button.  Just wonderful!

A Very Happy Birthday Card

  • Create the vibe of the ocean by spraying and spritzing with water Distress oxide sprays in beach colors for the background.
  • Highlight stamped sentiments on dark cardstock with a Gel white pen, like I did with the word “birthday” on my card.
