Welcome to Day 1 of the May Countdown. Here at Papertrey Ink it’s our passion to bring you designs that you will love creating with. If you like a more simple style, every product we release has elements that can take center stage to create a simple, yet designed, focal point. If you like a little more detail, we pack each set with as many images as possible so you have the freedom to create exactly what you want. Each of our newly released products can be used in many different ways to fit your particular style, and we can’t wait to show you how they come to life!
We’re so thrilled to share our new May products with you. We absolutely love bringing you the most amazing images made from the highest quality materials for you to add to your creative toolkit. I’m going to share with you what our amazing designers created the month, so let’s get started!
We’re beginning the countdown with Frozen Delights! I really love how this stamp set was created, with big, bold images so you can add one or more of them to your card front to make a “sweet” card. There are 3 different sentiments included, so you’re not limited to just birthday cards, which is always really nice. And then there’s the awning! Doesn’t it remind you of a neighborhood ice cream shop? I can’t get enough of it! If you love it too, make sure you get the die because it is made with a die cut. Of course there are so many fun details to this set, but the great thing is, you can make it really simple by creating a single cone with one scoop and your card will look perfect.
We are featuring Brenda’s beautiful project! I love that she started with the Cover Plate: Cross Stitched die as a base, it really adds to that vintage ice cream shop feel. Her next layer uses the Bitty Big: True Black patterned paper, and what could be better than those bitty polka dots, love it!
Adding the Reflections: May die cut as a mat is the perfect way to frame the 3 ice cream cones she created so they stand out along with the banner holding the birthday message.
Sweet Birthday Card

TIPS:
- Cut slits in the ice cream and/or fruit to make the fruit to appear to be tucked into the ice cream.
- A touch of black adds sophistication, even to a whimsical design.
- Adhere the awning to the back of the die-cut panel only, to allow it to pop forward for dimension.
- Add highlights and dots to die-cuts with a white gel pen to add texture.
Next up is a die that makes me smile every time I see it! Our Elegant Edges: Summer Sun die is amazing. I love how unique it is, and because it is such a wonderful design, it can be used with tons of other images in your collection, or it can stand alone for a more simple application (see Seeka’s project below).
This amazing card created by Melody, has to make you smile! It’s so warm and summery, the sentiment fits it perfectly. She started off with a 5 1/4” x 3 7/8” piece of cardstock and used our Beach Bag Stencil Collection to create the background. Then she used the Elegant Edges: Summer Sun die to cut her background piece and the sun image at the same time (so you have to make sure you place it where you want the break). Next up, she blended a piece of cardstock with Lemon Tart and Summer Sunrise to create the color of the sun and adhered it to the back of her background piece. And finally, adding the flip-flops (with those adorable gems!) from the Go-To Gift Card Holder: Beach Bag die and the sentiment to finish it off. I just love how happy this card is! It’s one of those projects that looks really involved but is actually just a few easy steps.

Melody’s next card is absolutely adorable! I love how she created a background with clouds, and then die-cut the Elegant Edges: Summer Sun die from another piece of cardstock that she first stenciled with our Playful Dots Stencil Collection. She then removed the pieces of the Elegant Edges: Summer Sun die-cut and added a teensy bit Summer Sunrise around the edges to give them definition and depth before placing them back in, I just think that is such a cool detail!
After creating two adorable ice cream cones using our new Frozen Delights Stamp Set, Melody added some gems and stickles for a little bling, and then stamped and adhered the banner to complete this fun project!
