Designer’s Challenge

 

We’re excited to introduce you to our new challenge here on the Papertrey Ink blog.  This week’s challenge is all about birthday cakes, cupcakes, cake plates, candles, and sprinkles on top!  I’ve invited a few of our designers to participate in this challenge and help jumpstart your creativity.  Our designers have focused on the adorable Iconic Birthday stamp set and dies as well as the Love to Layer:  Decorative Brackets dies.

This first card was created by our designer Leanne West and uses these products in the sweetest way.  I love how she created a scene containing her cakes and sweets, spread across her card horizontally.  Her background created with images from our Iconic Birthday stamp set is adorable and certainly sets the happiest feel for her birthday card.  The Love to Layer:  Decorative Brackets create the perfect landing place in which to create your scene.  Her ink blending on the largest bracket is beautiful, isn’t it?  And her colorful scallops using the Birthday Celebration Bling die is amazing!  What a great idea!

This next card is so cheerful with the Decorative Bracket cut from Bitty Big Pure Poppy paper.  I love how our designer Melody Rupple created a hanging shelf using Pure Poppy Baker’s Twine and tiny bows from the Iconic Birthday stamp and die sets.

Her color scheme is one of my favorites!  The Aqua Mist strip of cardstock layered across her bracket is the perfect accent.  Our Love to Layer:  Decorative Brackets dies come with two of these strips and both have the most beautiful embossed details on them.  I love how she layered her birthday sweets on her hanging shelf across the upper portion of her Decorative Bracket and then added in sentiments from our delightful Birthday Your Way stamp set.  The tiny cake plate in the Iconic Birthday set sure is a fun way to layer your cake slices, cakes, and cupcakes….brilliant!

Lastly, my card uses the many images from Iconic Birthday stamp set in a grid formation across the center of my card.  These tiny images are perfect for creating grids and I love how they look lined up and squared away.

My center cake image is the largest, so to set it apart from the others, I added it to the top of a vellum bracket, cut using the smallest of the Love to Layer:  Decorative Brackets dies.  I added my sentiment just below it using the Birthday Your Way stamp set and dies.

RULES

Our challenge for you this week is to create a birthday card or tag using Papertrey Ink supplies containing a birthday sweet such as a birthday cake, cupcake, slice of cake, etc.  Post a photo of your project here by next Friday, February 17th and a winner will be selected and announced on Monday, February 20th.  One winner will receive a $25 Gift Certificate to the Papertrey Ink store.
