Today I get to share with you some exciting news! We have two new stencil collections we’re releasing this month. The new Barbed Wire and Brick Wall Stencil Collections. They are so much fun to get inky and creative with. Here’s how I used them on my cards.

I created a soft rainbow effect using the Barbed Wire stencils. This is so easy to do because the barbed wire naturally separates your cardstock base into definitive strips. This mix of colors creates a delightful background for my tag and pocket, which use more of our new April Release products.

This photo shows my cardstock base before I added my layer of vellum to further blend my colors and add the softness I always crave in my cards. Isn’t this fun to look at? Imagine all of the things you can use this stencil for…not just masculine cards, either.

I also used the new Delicately Woven die, layering it over my vellum to add a touch of texture behind my tag. Don’t you love this die? I used a pocket from the Go-To Gift Card Holder: Book Pockets die set. I cut it from Bitty Bit Harvest Gold paper and added it to the bottom of my card with a scroll from the Book Scrolls stamp and die sets. These darling scrolls were used throughout my card and tag, even on my tiny heart from the Bookmark die collection. I stamped my die cut tag using sentiments from the new Just Sentiments: Everyday stamp set and Book stamp set. This tag can be removed from the pocket for a fun, interactive feel.
Supplies used:

My next card uses our new Brick Wall Stencil collection. I just needed a small strip of my brick wall to go across the center of my card. I stenciled my brick in a mixture of Pale Peony, Summer Sunrise, and Honey Nut. These stencils make gorgeous patterned paper, custom made to coordinate with any handmade card.

In the corners of my card you’ll notice our new Cornered: Leaves dies. They are so beautiful and create such delicate, intricate designs in the corners of your cards. I added mine over a block of white cardstock that I had sponged with Summer Sunrise and Melon Berry ink.

My focal point consists of images from the Captivating Cattails stamps and dies. Don’t they look sweet on feminine cards as well as masculine? My sentiment is also from the Captivating Cattails and looks so beautiful and simple stamped and heat embossed on my vellum.
How about some projects from our designers? You’ll fall in love with what they’ve prepared for you.

It’s our last day of our April Release and we’ve saved something extra sweet for last! introducing Feathered Friends 22 dies and Just Sentiments: Everyday stamp set.

I sure love this new Feathered Friend. She is fancy and sassy and looks beautiful whether you dress her up in soft pastels or bold, rich, dark colors, as you’ll notice some of our designers have used.

I layered my Feathered Friend over two die cut Elegant Edges: Leaves dies. These make such beautiful additional layers, and their intricacy is unmatched! They add just the touch of elegance needed to dress up your Feathered Friends, florals, etc. I layered mine over a circle that I stenciled the new Brick Wall Stencil Collection on. I love the subtle detail the brick adds.

You’ll love the new Just Sentiments: Everyday stamp set. There are several very basic and fun sentiments to choose from that are each just casual and playful and say just what you’re feeling. I love this one in particular.
Wait until you see what beautiful birds our other designers have created using our newest Feathered Friend. You’ll fall head over heals in love with each of them.
Thanks so much for joining in our April Release celebration!
Melissa

TIPS:
- Small black splatters add a great texture detail to the background.
- Highlight the markings on the bird with colored pencils to make them stand out more.
- Ground the bird by perching him on a branch or other object.

TIPS:
- Add multiple texture details through dry embossing stitches and scallops.
- Pop up the florals, leaves and sentiment with foam tape to add dimension.
- Cut all the parts of the bird from white card stock then blend colors with brushes or sponge daubers to match the stenciled background colors.
