Hi everybody, welcome to our new feature What do I do with this? For this challenge our designers will get to try out some of these new tools and share the projects they created using them. We’ve got some fun, new things coming to the Papertrey Ink store and our designers will show you how to use them so you’ll be comfortable incorporating them into your card-making and gift-giving. Stay tuned for exciting and creative things coming your way! We want to share what our designers love with you, and this gives you a first-hand look into their crafty-faves!
Let’s get started!
Hi everyone! It’s Wanda here with my take on using Stickles to add some glitter and shine to your projects! I typically use orange or yellow Stickles to highlight candle flames and add crystal or diamond Stickles to icing on cupcakes and cakes, and also use them on images for holiday and birthday cards! Today, I’ve chosen to highlight stamped florals and leaves for a birthday card.
Step 1: Choose a colorful, patterned background for the base layer behind the balloons. I chose to create with alcohol inks on Yupo paper in deep pink and orange. Die cut the Big Balloon cover plate from white card stock then add some stenciled details with Raspberry Fizz and Orange Zest inks and the Big Balloon stencils.
Step 2: Now you are ready to prepare the embellishments. I stamped the Thank You Florals with True Black ink then with Versamark ink and added clear embossing powder. I colored the images with Zig clean color brush markers and blended with a water brush. After they dried, I highlighted the images with Crystal Stickles. I prefer not to cover the entire image but just accent edges and shadow areas. The thin nozzles on the Stickles bottles make it easy to get into small spaces. Remember…you can insert a pin to dislodge any glitter that might get stuck in the thin tip of the bottle.

It’s time for another What Do I Do With This? Challenge. Today Wanda and I are sharing ideas for using Stickles to add glitter and bling to a project. I die cut the flowers and greenery in the Into the Blooms II Die Set from Stamper’s Select White Cardstock and used a blending brush with PTI inks to add the color. I spritzed the flowers and leaves with water. When the flowers were dry I added Star Dust Stickles.
To create the card front I used the Border Bling: Lots of Dots Die and the Border Bling: Skinny Stitched Frame Die and a sentiment from the Just Sentiments: Happy Hello.
