Hi everybody, welcome to our new feature What do I do with this? For this challenge our designers will get to try out some of these new tools and share the projects they created using them. We’ve got some fun, new things coming to the Papertrey Ink store and our designers will show you how to use them so you’ll be comfortable incorporating them into your card-making and gift-giving. Stay tuned for exciting and creative things coming your way! We want to share what our designers love with you, and this gives you a first-hand look into their crafty-faves!
Let’s get started!
Here in Western New York, it seems that our winter really started in February! So when I thought about Valentine’s Day cards for my two teenage daughters, the “Go-To Gift Card Holder: Mitten” die seemed like the perfect way to tuck in some little heart rings they saw online and loved!
Speaking of love…the “Border Bling: Blooming Hearts” die has completely stolen my heart! From the sweet patterns, down to the teeny perfect heart cut-outs, it can be used in so many ways. I cut it up and layered pieces over the cuffs and fingertip die cuts on the mitten. The hearts from “XO Skinny Mini” were repeat stamped for my mitten’s background, and the vertical sentiments were a wonderful fit for the long tag die from the “Go-To Gift Card Holder: Mitten” set. The teeny gingham circle image from “Pattern Play” perfectly coordinated with the button die in the mitten die set, too.
The girls got their cards and rings a bit early (they peeked when I was working on them), and they totally made them smile!
STAMPS: XO Skinny Mini, Pattern Play
PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Classic Kraft, Weathervane, Rustic White cardstocks
OTHER: Assorted inks, twine
For today’s What Do I Do With This? Challenge I am using a Distress Crayon with with embossing powder. For the background I stamped the Nifty Plaid Stamp with Versamark Ink on Stamper’s Select White Cardstock and them heat embossed with white embossing powder. Next I simply colored lines of the plaid with the Winterberry Distress Crayon. I used a blender brush to blend the color over the embossing. You can also use your finger. You can also use a baby wipe to remove color.
I used the same method to add the color to the doily at the top of the jar. I used the Spook-tacular Mason Jars Dies to created the jar. I die cut the jar once from white Cardstock. Then I glued a variety of sizes of hearts to the jar front that I die cut with the With Love Dies. Then I die cut the jar again from vellum, stamped the sentiment, and added the vellum jar over the hearts.
