Can you believe we are half way through our February Release?  Hasn’t it been the absolute cutest?  I have been in awe not only of the new products, but the magic our designers have worked with them.  Let’s begin Day 3, shall we?  Introducing the new Feathered Friends Mini 20 stamp set and dies.

I have to admit to having an extra special fondness to these darling chicks.  Springtime on our farm here in Southern Nevada, means baby chicks…and I love them all!  Our Feathered Friends 20 stamps and dies are just in time for fun springtime crafting!

I love the way these chicks looked snuggled up together, but they are equally as adorable used as singles.  You’ll notice some of our designers have their chicks hatching from our new Egg-stravagance dies…so sweet!  I nestled my baby chicks in Bitty Big Spring Moss paper cut using the new Grassy Edge die.

I wanted to bring in some spring blossoms, so I used our new Thank You Florals stamp set and dies, heat embossing them in white embossing powder and adding color using watercolor pencils and markers once the powder was set in place.  My sentiment comes from the new Spring Greetings stamp set and is hands-down my favorite.  I stamped it in watermark ink and heat embossed using gold embossing powder.  This was such a delightful card to create.  How can one possibly create with these chicks and not smile?

Supplies Used:

STAMPS:  Feathered Friends Mini 20, Spring Greetings, Thank You Florals

INK:  Bright Buttercup, Green Parakeet, Summer Sunrise, Pale Peony, Honey Nut, Saffron Spice, Fine Linen, Aqua Mist, Melon Berry

PAPER:  Stamper’s Select White, Sheer Basics Vellum, Bitty Big Spring Moss, Bitty Big Sweet Blush

DIES:  Feathered Friends Mini 20, Thank You Florals, Grassy Edge, Border Bling:  Tin Stitch, Mix & Mat:  Pinked Edge, Noted:  Simply Stitched A2 Vertical

OTHER:  Stickles glitter, adhesive gems, white embossing powder, gold embossing powder, colored pencils, Copic markers

TIPS:
  • Create you card panel with a cloud stencil and the Grassy Edge die.
  • Use the Weave A Basket die to create an Easter basket.
  • Use the Elegant Egg dies to create your Easter eggs for the basket. Use a blending brush and add color to the top layer of the eggs before assembling them.
  • Tuck your eggs into the basket for an adorable Easter scene.
  • Attach your Feathered Friends images to the bottom of your basket. The little chicks are the perfect springtime accent!

TIPS:

  • I blended a color background for the card base to pull out the primary pink and orange colors from the alcohol ink eggs.
  • Adhering the butterfly and popping up the wings gives a great element of dimension.
  • I chose to omit a sentiment on the front due to the “busy” design of all the egg dies.

TIPS:

  • Layer the butterfly die to add dimension.
  • Add texture with dry embossing patterns onto the white layers.
  • Nuvo Embellishment Mousse works well with water and can be thinned down to add splatters.

TIPS:

  • Create a mini slimline card so you have enough room for all of your chicks.
  • Ink blend your card panel with Blueberry Sky and Spring Rain ink.
  • Add New Leaf ink to your Grassy Edge die cut. Add splatters with the reinker for added interest.
  • Stamp your chicks in a rainbow of colors for a fun springtime card.
  • Tuck your chicks into the grass to complete your scene.

TIPS:

  • I stamped the chicks in Harvest Gold then added more dimension by flicking Copic markers (Y11 and YR12) along the edges and at shadowed areas and also on the legs.
  • Nuvo embellishment mousse works well when you add water to a small portion of it on an acrylic block. You can pick it up with a small brush and splatter it onto the background. It gives a hint of sheen without being too glittery.
  • Prismacolor pencils are great to add some details to the flowers.

Next up today, we’re sharing the new Elegant Eggs dies and Just Sentiments Spring Blessings stamp set.  These eggs are instantly beautiful….just you wait and see!

I adore the Elegant Eggs dies.  They are classic, intricate, and so versatile.  These lovely dies can transition from playful and festive, to more traditional and elegant.  I die cut my eggs from patterned paper, adding a bit of ink blending to make sure the details on my top layers really stood out.  Isn’t the separate butterfly die you can use to add dimension and enhance your egg design, just the perfect additional touch?

Behind my eggs, I used the new Delicate Circles die, cutting it from vellum.  I love the soft, subtle, but very dainty feel it adds.  I added a bit of grass, cut using the Weave a Basket die collection.  And, to further my very feminine feel, I used die cut and stamped flowers from the new Easter Egg-stravagance stamp set and die collection.

I added a sentiment from the new Just Sentiments:  Spring Blessings stamp set above my eggs, stamping it on a die cut Banner Builder:  Basics.  I used Saffron Spice ink for my sentiment…it’s my new favorite color for sentiments.  Isn’t it beautiful?  I love how well it blends but stands out at the same time.
