Hi everybody, welcome to our new feature What do I do with this? For this challenge our designers will get to try out some of these new tools and share the projects they created using them. We’ve got some fun, new things coming to the Papertrey Ink store and our designers will show you how to use them so you’ll be comfortable incorporating them into your card-making and gift-giving. Stay tuned for exciting and creative things coming your way! We want to share what our designers love with you, and this gives you a first-hand look into their crafty-faves!
Let’s get started!
Happy Holidays! I’ve used a new product to the Papertrey Ink store……..Moonshine sequins!
My background was done using the Weathered Wood on kraft cardstock with Cocoa Bean ink. I added in lots of sprigs in shades of darker green inks. The sprigs were trimmed and formed into a wreath. Each sprig was adhered at the base allowing space to move them around and “fluff” the branches! For the sentiment, I used a previously released set called Perfect Pairs: Commodities. The word ‘happy’ was die cut three times, adhered together, and added over the wreath. As finishing touches, Moonshine sequins were added with some layered for dimension along with two stamped pinecones. These sequins are some of my favorite since they are flat backed and give the most perfect shine without added color!
INK: Cocoa Bean, Kraft, Pure Poppy, True Black, New Leaf, Pinefeather
PAPER: White, Kraft
DIES: Sprigs & Sprays: Holiday, Perfect Pairs: Commodities
OTHER: Moonshine Sequins, Foam Adhesive
I used the delightful Star Stencils and Moonshine Sequins to add a little “hocus pocus” to my bubbling jars full of witch’s potion and brew! I used the two-step layered Star Stencils for my background, but then could use little sections of the stencils to add stars just where I wanted to the jars. So much fun!
The new “Winter Swirls” set can be used on cards for any season! It was perfect for adding a bit of magical action to my jars. I heat embossed the swirl images with white powder, then layered Distress Oxide inks over the top with blending brushes. I masked the sentiments from the Storybook Halloween stamp set to make some great labels for my jars, too!
I experimented with nontraditional colors for a Halloween card, and even though the mood is spooky, it’s sparkly and cheerful. I think both the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch would approve!
