The Great Cover-Up

Hi everybody, welcome to our next episode of The Great Cover-Up!  This weekly feature is all about layered cards and tone-on-tone backgrounds. Today Kelly and Laurie are your guides in The Great Cover-Up so enjoy!

Let’s get started!

It’s no secret that I absolutely adore layered cards AND tone-on-tone backgrounds! Today’s card is actually a hybrid of two of my favorites from the latest release. One of my favorite ways to add layers is to combine two background dies using the same color of cardstock for a unique look. Another way to add visual interest to cards is to add glitter to foliage, flowers, and edges, like I did here!

STAMPS: Blooming Thoughts, Just Sentiments: Appreciation
INK: True Black, Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Limeade Ice, Simply Chartreuse, assorted Distress Oxide inks
PAPER: White, Berry Sorbet
DIES: Blooming Thoughts, Border Bling: Joy Frame, Border Bling: Postage Frame, Feathered Friends 10 dies
OTHER: glitter, finger sponges, sequins

Even though I keep my stamp room nice and tidy, I am a horribly messy stamper while creating.  We’re talking hurricane level mess!  It never fails that I have at least one smudge, glue drips, chair wheel tracks (don’t ask LOL) or other mishap per stamping session.  The background I created here was actually one that I was going to use for this past release.  I couldn’t make it work with the black ink smudge that I accidentally added so I added it to my stash to use later.  Honestly, I could never throw out anything rainbow colored so I was bound and determined to create something with it.  Since I am in need of end of school year cards I decided it would be perfect for that!  By adding a few strategically placed die cut leaves the black smudge is completely hidden!
