Simple to Spectacular: Painted Poinsettias

November 28, 2018      Papertrey Ink      Leave a Comment

Welcome to Simple to Spectacular!

Who doesn’t love a simple, classic sugar cookie? But then you add icing and it gets even sweeter and more decadent. And then you pop on some sprinkles and suddenly it’s a party! The idea of this feature will be to show how a single stamp set can be used to create a card from clean and simple to downright fabulous with a few extra layers and embellishments.

We have a few designers participating today and they each have three progressive card designs to share using the Painted Poinsettias stamp set. Enjoy!

“My holiday cards might be heading out in the post soon, but I am still in need of seasonal thank you cards for after the gift-giving season. Today’s Simple To Spectacular challenge seemed like the perfect opportunity to stock up on a handful of thank you notes. I gradually increased the layers of die cuts and texture to take a simple card and amp up the pattern and interest. This was a really fun challenge and I hope you’ll pop by my blog to get a closer look at all of the details!”

“Simple cards have always been a challenge for me, but after finishing one, it becomes one of my new favorites:)…such as is the case with my Simple to Spectacular attempt today.  In each card, I’ve used a different technique that takes your card from one level to the next.  I’ve used layers, stencils, heat embossing, and beautiful Papertrey Ink products to make each card special in its own way.”

“Painted Poinsettia is the perfect set to revisit today as poinsettias are arriving to doorsteps all over my neighborhood. I’m hoping my husband picks up a few from Costco soon! As always, I stayed true to my typical clean and graphic style on all three takes, each one a little more involved than the last. And I’ve paired old with new in the form of my very favorite Shape Shifter for a modern take on Christmas. The natural steps of these die collections make the progression from simple to stepped up to spectacular so easy. Stop by my blog to read more about how I used the same stamps, colors, and basic layout to create all three cards.”
