"Since Papertey Ink celebrated its big 10th Anniversary, the 2017 SAF theme falls in line with traditional anniversary gifts. Today I am demonstrating a project representing the traditional second anniversary gift, cotton. In keeping with this theme, I’ve created my lavender sachet project with crinoline, a crisp 100% cotton fabric, which takes color well and also cut easily with any/all of the fabulous Papertrey Ink dies.
I have die cut Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge as my base for my sachet and a variety of floral/leafy designs as well. The flowers and leaves were ‘dyed’ by pressing the fabric into the ink pad surface.
Once all of the floral die cuts are dry, the layering and arranging can begin! There are SO many uses the these pretty dyed embellishments – cards, tags, banners, favor box decorations, etc. The sky’s the limit!"
- Create sachet base by die cutting crinoline fabric using Mix&Mat: Pinkied Edge die (use inner dotted frame too as it can be your stitching guide!)
- Die cut various floral/leaf shapes from crinoline
- To ‘dye’ the floral/leaf shapes, press into PTI ink pads using your finger tips. If you have re-inkers, this would also work but might result in a deeper hue
- Allow dyed flowers/leaves to dry overnight if possible.
- Stitch about ¾ of the way around your Mix & Mat: Pinked sachet base (by hand or machine), leaving enough room to add lavender
- Add lavender, filling about ¾ full (a funnel helps!), and stitch to close sachet
- Layer flowers to your liking, mixing and matching if desired, and stitch together
- Stitch ¼” buttons to flower centers
- Tack on leafy die, position flowers and hand stitch onto sachet
- Add organza ribbon hanger, if desired
- Enjoy lovely Lavender scent!
- INK: Hibiscus Burst, Blueberry Sky, Amethyst Allure, Green Parakeet, Harvest Gold
- DIES: Flowers Manadalas I, Flower Mandalas II, Latin Motif, Bloom Builders #3, Turning A New Leaf, Mix&Mat: Pinked Edge
- OTHER: Crinoline fabric, ¼” buttons, needle/thread, organza ribbon, dried lavender
- Now it's your turn! Create a project featuring some kind of die-cut fabric flowers. You can choose to re-create the exact project from Michelle above or design your own using the same concepts. Your project must also incorporate at least one Papertrey product.
- Post your project on your blog, in your gallery, Instagram or on any other photo-hosting site (such as photobucket or flickr).
- Add your project to the InLinkz list below.
- You will have until 7am ET, Thursday, August 31st, to add your link to the list to be eligible to win. One project per person please.
- As a reminder, you will have until 7am ET, Thursday, August 31st, to add your link to the list to be eligible to win.

Have you ever used crinoline on your paper crafting projects? I'm super impressed with how easily Michelle was able to "dye" it with her ink pads. Totally the kind of thing you can do on an individual project basis when you are in need of just the right finishing touch! Do you think you'll be stocking up on crinoline now? Looking forward to seeing your projects!

I knew you were an upstate gal! Please go to Buffalo Stamps, LaNova’s, Harry’s on the River, all in Buffalo; and then go to Nick Tahoe’s and have the most wicked garbage plate you can handle and some REAL chicken wings! You’d be aghast over what the rest of the nation thinks are “real” chicken wings. If your eyes water and your mouth burns for 2 hours, then you have real upstate chicken wings. Oh, go to Wegmans for me too and have fun.
I loved your project. You’re an amazing designer and so out of the box breathing new life into older stamp sets that is fantastic.
Thank you for all of your inspiration
