Just wait until you see what Debbie Olson has in store for you next!
"I am delighted to be able to help Papertrey Ink celebrate its tenth anniversary during Stamp-a-faire 2017! My anniversary material of choice was wool; I love how thick and smooth Papertrey’s wool felt is, as well as how cleanly it can be die-cut. While browsing Pinterest a few months ago, I ran across some darling felt cookies from Sweet Emma Jean’s Etsy shop. It occurred to me that I probably could die-cut cookie shapes by repurposing a few of the the abundance of dies that I already have. My Stamp-a-faire project is a collection of assorted wool felt cookies. As a bonus, I packaged them in a PTI large heart tin and created an accompanying gift card. Enjoy!"
- Die cut cookie parts and glue or hand stitch as desired. (I used primarily a blanket stich or locking hem stitch, demoed in my accompanying video. I used fabric glue mostly for the tiny parts such as adding sprinkles, chocolate chips, or fudge stripes.)
- If you want the cookies to be more substantial, either lightly stuff with polyester fiberfill, or cut an extra base layer to add thickness.
Specific Cookies (Helpful hint: Refer to accompanying video.)
SUGAR COOKIES
- Cut two of cookie base, one layer of frosting, and as many varied sprinkles as you want.
- Carefully glue sprinkles onto frosting with fabric glue. Stitch frosting to top of cookie base.
- Stitch frosted cookie top to bottom of cookie base, adding a small amount of polyester fiberfill between layers if you wish.
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
- Cut two layers of cookie base and as many chocolate chips as you want.
- Carefully glue chocolate chips onto cookie top with fabric glue.
- Stitch cookie top to cookie base, adding a small amount of polyester fiberfill between layers if you wish.
SANDWICH COOKIES
- Cut two layers of cookie base and three layers of cookie filling.
- Stitch or glue filling layers together.
- Stich or glue cookie top and cookie base to cookie filling. (I hem-stitched the three filling layers together, then hem-stitched the top and bottom cookie edges separately for decorative purposes only. Finally, I glued the cookie top and bottom to the filling.)
SUGAR WAFER COOKIES
- Cut two layers of cookie base and three layers of cookie filling.
- Stack all five layers together, and stitch or glue them. (I hem-stitched all five layers at once since the stitching holes were created by the die.)
FUDGE RIPPLE COOKIES
- Cut one or two layers of cookie base per cookie, and one layer of fudge per cookie.
- Next, cut small circle from center of cookie and fudge layers. Use scissors or a rotary trimmer to cut thin strips of fudge from Dark Chocolate Wool Felt.
- Carefully glue fudge stripes onto cookie top with fabric glue.
- Stitch cookie top to cookie base, adding a small amount of polyester fiberfill between layers if you wish.

There is no end to to the customization possibilities, especially if you start adding sequins, beads and other bits and pieces! We can't wait to see your take on this challenge!

Oh my goodness, these are adorable. I wish I had the materials to start making a “batch” right now! Thanks for sharing this idea, Debbie.
Thanks, Colleen! No calories or crumbs either. . . 😉
Thanks, Becca–I love Mason jars too! And coasters? Clever!
Lock stitch may not be a proper name, but it’s what my grandmother did to everything she hemmed so that if I managed to break a stitch, the whole hem wouldn’t come out. It reminds me a lot of a blanket stitch, with just an extra loop of thread to knot after each stitch. 🙂
These look cute enough to eat!
Thank you ALL for your kind comments! I really do love the thickness and smoothness of Papertrey’s wool felt–it’s awesome to work with!
What an awesome project! I love this idea. Thanks for sharing.

Your project is so cute; I don’t have any felt or the need for felt cookies so I think I will skip this challenge.
HAVEN’T PLAYED WITH YOUR IDEA YET. BUT THIS LOOKS LIKE A PERFECT CRAFT FOR COOL FALL EVENINGS IN FRONT OF THE TV. THINK I WILL MAKE A SET OF COOKIES FOR MY YOUNGEST GRANDDAUGHTER AS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT!
These are so sweet. Love the Oreos.
I LOVE these cookies. I have a Visions of Sugarplums Christmas tree theme and these cookies would be perfect for it. I want to try my hand at a Fig Newton…Dark Chocolate felt wrapped in Classic Kraft -seam on the bottom.

Felt that looks good enough to eat! Great tutorial!
These felt cookies are just to die for. They are adorable!!!!! My two girls would have loved them when they were little, but they have unfortunately grown up and…. (sob)… might not be as impressed as teens. Boo hoo for little girls growing up too soon!
I, on the other hand, do not let my age affect my judgement of cuteness!
Karen

I love to stitch, so I know I’ll be making some of these “no calorie cookies”! They really look great!
I’ve never seen the double twist to secure each blanket stitch and will certainly use it. Great idea. How do you start and end your stitching? Beads would look cute as sprinkles, also. I just hope my grandson doesn’t try to bite them. LOL
So cute! These will make cute Christmas tree ornaments for my baker friends. And as favors for a holiday cookie exchange. Or strung together to make a cookie garland. Oh yeah!
They not only look cute and yummy, they are super fun too!
So great to see you participating in the 10th anniversary Stamp a Faire challenges. I love these adorable wool felt cookies.

Very clever…looks good enough to eat!
These are ABSOLUTELY adorable!!! These would be perfect for a little girl who likes to play house or anything like that. So cute!!! You did an AMAZING job!! Thanks for sharing!
Sandy, I saw some macarons on Pinterest too, and they were darling–so colorful!
Hi, Mary,
Beads would look great! I was trying to avoid choking hazards, but if they were sewed well, it shouldn’t be a problem, I don’t think. I tie a knot, then hide my knot tail inside a layer, loop through the first hole a couple of times, and move on to the second stitch. If it doesn’t lay exactly right, I fix it when I come back around with my last stitch. I try to finish my knot between layers, then pull the thread tail through the cookie to keep loose ends from showing. Hope that helps!
Teddra, that would make a nice gift! And your garland idea? A TON of work, but it would be awesome!
These would be awesome for little ones too for girl’s tea parties. How fun.
What a fun and creative idea. Love it a lot.
Oh my! These look great. Thanks for the inspiration.
