Beautiful Berries progress

Autumn is the season when nature is aglow with warm, golden hues.  Bittersweet vines and berries capture the beauty and ruggedness of the season.  These multi-step berries are ready to bring a bit of autumn’s beauty to your creations. Use them on cards, or create tags and wraps for autumn gifts.  These berries would also be beautiful combined with sets such as Leaf Prints to create pretty fall bouquets and clusters.

The sentiments are done in an elegant style that can bring an entire project together.

This special addition to the Mix & Mat collection is wonderful for lots of autumn projects. Of course the two outer frames can be interchanged with other dies in the collection too!

KIS Blessed progress

Now that I've made all of the formal introductions, let's get onto the projects!

Sunshine & Smiles Card

This first card is super simple, but one of my favorites. I've always had a thing for sunflowers and the clean lines and "white space" of this one really brings all of the things I love together on one project.

I stamped all of the parts and pieces of the largest sunflower and then went back over each area with a watercolor brush and water, careful to stay inside the lines. This gives the flower the look that it was actually watercolored by hand, but of course I cheated using the stamped images as guidelines.

This sentiment is something I know I will be using a lot. The font selections are a nice complement to the simple design of the sunflower images.

  • STAMPS: Sunflower Harvest (available August 15th)
  • INK: Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Canyon Clay, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, True Black
  • PAPER: Vintage Cream
  • OTHER: Watercolor Brush, Black Pen

Blessed Card
I love the fullness of Betsy's latest Beautiful Berries set, and thought the bits and pieces would make a gorgeous frame.

I stamped the sprigs and branches in place with all of their gorgeous layers, then added the script "Blessed" sentiment from Keep It Simple: Blessed in the center.

I used a fine-tip gold pen to add a little dot accent to each of the berries.

  • STAMPS: Beautiful Berries: Autumn, Keep It Simple: Blessed (available August 15th)
  • INK: Classic Kraft, Prairie Grass, Ripe Avocado, Canyon Clay, Terra-cotta Tile, Cocoa Bean
  • PAPER: Vintage Cream, Prairie Grass
  • OTHER: Gold Pen

Thankful & Blessed Card

The beauty and detail incorporated into the latest Mix & Mat die set is truly stunning. It may potentially go down as one of my favorite autumn products ever!

I die-cut all three dies together for this project, adding a sentiment strip across the center after I had completed the coloring. It's simple, but really striking.

  • STAMPS: Keep It Simple: Blessed (available August 15th)
  • INK: Cocoa Bean
  • PAPER: Vintage Cream, Classic Kraft
  • DIES: Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge
  • OTHER: Copic Markers, 1/8" Brads

Thankful Card

The smallest sprigs included in Beautiful Berries: Autumn can be used to create a wreath, like I did here.

By adhering them in a circular formation and topping them off with a twine bow, I instantly have a completely different look.

I cut the dotted frame from Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge twice, leaving a space in between to heat emboss the sentiment.

  • STAMPS: Beautiful Berries: Autumn (available August 15th)
  • INK: Saffron Spice, Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, VersaMark
  • PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Canyon Clay
  • DIES: Beautiful Berries: Autumn dies, Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge die
  • OTHER: White Filigree Embossing Powder

Right Moment Card

The new Quoted set is something I have wanted for a long time. How many times has a friend or loved one seemed to have nothing but a streak of horrible luck, and it's hard to find the right thing to say to encourage them to hang in there?

I stamped Sunflower Harvest around the edge of the card front using some non-traditional colors.

I purposely "streaked" the ink onto some of the stamps, rather that tapped, to get a more hand-painted look.

  • STAMPS: Sunflower Harvest, Quoted: Right Moment (available August 15th)
  • INK: Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Pale Peony, Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, Dark Indigo
  • PAPER: Stamper's Select White
  • OTHER: Ink Blending Sponge, Baker's Twine

Dawn McVey is joining me today, featuring Beautiful Berries: Autumn + Quoted: Right Moment

Sigh…isn't this just a beauty? Dawn proves that the new Beautiful Berries: Autumn set doesn't have to be limited to autumn color schemes. It can be pretty in purple too!

  • STAMPS: Beautiful Berries: Autumn, Quoted: Right Moment, Keep It Simple: Blessed
  • INK: Cocoa Bean, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Lavender Moon, Amethyst Allure
  • PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Kraft, Lilac Grace
  • DIES: Beautiful Berries: Autumn, Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge

Orange and teal is always an unexpected and gorgeous color combo and Dawn executed that perfectly here. She orchestrated a beautiful balance with the sentiment in the lower portion of the center mat layer and the "heavy" berry branch at the top.

  • STAMPS: Beautiful Berries: Autumn, Year of Psalms: August
  • INK: Hawaiian Shores, Canyon Clay, Ripe Avocado
  • PAPER: Stamper’s Select White, Cocoa Bean, Halloween Hugs Kit plaid paper
  • DIES: Beautiful Berries: Autumn, Brushed Off: Rectangle

I love how the Quoted sentiment is still able to take center stage over these stenciled polka dots because of the generous spacing between the dots. The berry branch, again, adds a wonderful balance to the sentiment.

  • STAMPS: Beautiful Berries: Autumn, Quoted: Right Moment
  • INK: Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Pale Peony, Cocoa Bean, Ranger Jet Black
  • PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Berry Sorbet
  • DIES: Beautiful Berries: Autumn
  • OTHER: Stencil Basics: Dots, ink blending tools

Lizzie Jones is joining me today, featuring Sunflower Harvest + Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge Dies

Aqua gingham paired with a yellow sunflower is definitely a classic that never goes out of style. Lizzie showcases the largest sunflower in the set to perfection here. The simple addition of the green twine really helps to carry the eye around the project.

  • STAMPS: Sunflower Harvest, Background Basics: Super Gingham
  • INK: Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Terra Cotta Tile, Ripe Avocado, Olive Twist, Cocoa Bean, Dark Chocolate
  • PAPER: Rustic White, Classic Kraft
  • DIES: Sunflower Harvest Die, Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge Die
  • OTHER: Linen & Canvas Impression Plate, Scotch Foam Tape, American Crafts Olive Twine

One of the fun things about the sunflower set is the stems that come along with it. As an added bonus the leaves were designed in such a way that you can add those to the stems in a variety of ways to suit your design. I love how Lizzie was able to incorporate all three sizes of the blooms here using the stems.

  • STAMPS: Sunflower Harvest, Pen & Ink
  • INK: Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean, Harvest Gold, Saffron Spice, Terra Cotta Tile, Dark Chocolate, VersaMark
  • PAPER: Rustic White, Classic Kraft
  • DIES: Sunflower Harvest Die, Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge Die
  • OTHER: Scotch Foam Tape, Filigree White Embossing Powder

Just look at the inking treatment Lizzie used on the Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge die here! Those autumn colors just steal the show! I love how she used the intricate cut on top of a window opening, it really adds a nice touch.

  • STAMPS: Sunflower Harvest
  • INK: Canyon Clay, Spring Moss, Dark Chocolate
  • PAPER: Canyon Clay, Rustic White
  • DIES: Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge Die, Double Ended Banner Die, Noted: Scalloped A2 Die Collection
  • OTHER: Rustic Cream Button Twine, Gansai Tambi Watercolor Paints, Copper Brad, Scotch Foam Tape, Hot Glue
